One rainy day the monkeys of the jungle took shelter from the rain. Jeffery, a young chimpanzee just born in the world was fascinated by the rain, as it was the first time he had ever seen the rain. He lived in a small monkey family in a village called Monketon in the jungles, they were safe from any threat as they were hidden. In the rest of the world a monkey civil war raged, it was a war between the chimpanzees of west and the chimpanzees of the east. It was brutal and many monkeys died and many more were injured. Jeffery was part of the east monkeys, the smaller, poorer side of the war, but they had iron wills and fought on till the end. Jeffery and his monkey friends usually travelled outside the village territory to explore what was beyond the jungle, they never got far enough until today...
"Wow I can almost see past the trees into the desert", said one of Jeffery's friends Bob. They had never got this far before. "Its finally time we see for our self what is beyond the trees!", exclaimed Jeffery excitedly. The trees became less and less frequent as they swung through the jungle. They were approaching the end finally until they heard blood petrified screams echo through the land "Oh god!" shouted Mickey, another one of Jeffery's friends. "It must be a battlefield! we need to leave!!!". They kept going, despite Mickeys worries they kept swinging and swinging passed the trees. "Guys! this is dangerous, we cant keep going!", Mickey screamed, his anxiety growing stronger. "We've never gotten this far before, it'll be alright if we just stay close enough to the trees", Jeffery said angrily. They reached the end and not too their surprise, a vast battlefield of monkey warriors were in front of their very eyes. It was a horrifying sight, though Jeffery was amazed. "See Mickey, there is no way we are in any danger from this range", said Jeffery smugly. Although Mickey and Bob were scared Jeffery was just excited to be outside the jungle they've been trapped in for years. "Come on lets get closer, we'll be fine!" Excitedly shouted Jeffery whilst dashing forward. "JEFFERY NO!!!!!", screamed Mickey whilst also dashing forward also. Whilst the two monkeys ran further into the battlefield Bob stayed, paralyzed by fear. "I... Must... Help...But I cant... WHY CANT I!?!?!". Jeffery was inches away from the battle field as Mickey caught up. "this is too dangerous, lets go home Jeffery..." Mickey stammered, out of breath. "Are you dumb?!" shouted Jeffery, agitated "you wanted to be outside the jungle the most, yet you cower in the face of a battle?". Mickey started crying in fear as monkey warriors screamed and raged in a gruesome war. "This is not what I meant, I wanted to see the cities and the monkey territories outside of Monkeria, in Asia and South America, this is dangerous, not freedom, DANGEROUS!". The monkeys both looked into the distance watching as many monkeys were slaughtered brutally. An eastern monkey soldier approached the children and screamed "What are you kids doing here!? go back home this isn't a place for-". The children looked in horror as the monkey soldier got shot in the head. "I'm sorry, you're right this is dangerous I was reckle-" Jeffery said as he got distracted by the many catapults being loaded by the Western Monkey forces in the distance. All of a sudden many boulders were launched their direction at fast speeds. "RUN!" screeched Mickey whilst pushing Jeffery out of the path of a large boulder heading their way. "MICKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!" Screamed Jeffery in a blood curdling screech of terror. Jeffery looked at Mickeys solemn face as he got crushed by the projectile. "Lets go!" Bob said as he picked up Jeffery, screeching over Mickeys death...
Jeffery was crying all the way home, in Bobs arms. As they got to the village Jeffery's parents were worried "THIS IS WHY I TELL YOU TOO STAY IN VILLAGE TERRITORY JEFFERY, WHY DO YOU NEVER LISTEN- wait, Jeffery, Bob, where is Mickey...?" said Jefferies Mum concerned "We were in the desert and... th-there were catapults and... and I-I...", said Jeffery, traumatised. Mickeys parents in the distance got a grim look in their face as they went back in their house. "Its ok we're safe now they could never reach the village". The monkeys looked up as they heard noises coming from above, they saw asteroid like things in the sky as they heard explosion noises from the north. "THEYRE BOMBING THE JUNGLE!" Cried Bob as Jefferies mum threw him into the well to protect him. The last thing Jeffery saw before his life was ruined was his mother being blasted away into the air. Jeffery passed out in shock. He woke up several hours later just to see that the well collapsed on him. He scaled the well just to see the entire jungle has been scorched to soot. Jeffery screamed in pain as the scorched ground burnt his feet. The sound of a stampede of rhinos grew closer to him, luckily they were eastern monkey soldiers approaching Jeffery to see if he was alright. "Silence child! are you the only survivor?". Jeffery was silent. "anyways you oughta come with is before the westerners come back, they always come back after retreating...". They put Jeffery in a basket, were he slept, and road towards the eastern monke capital, Eamonkira. Jeffery was about to have his life completely changed and he didn't even know it.
He woke up disoriented and confused surrounded by big building. "is this the... capital?" Jeffery asked. "Correct... unfortunately you are going to have to live here until you are 18, just the laws of the capital. My names Ash by the way, you cant stay at my army dorm until we can get you a proper home, there was other villages in your jungle, so the orphanages are full. So tell me your name kid?" The soldier said in a monotone voice "ummmm... I'm Jeffery" he said nervously. The soldiers looked at him strangely "thats going to have to change, sorry to break it to you kid but you're going to have to be a soldier, its just what we do with orphaned children, and to be a soldier you need a traditional east monkerian name, like... Orion! thats a good name isnt it?" Ash said happily. "uh-... I guess so..." Jeffery said solemnly as he realised his life has been ruined...
