Jiang Changhai frowned and said, "It doesn't matter if it wasn't on purpose, it's still unacceptable!"
Just as Jiang Mianmian was trying to placate him, she saw her father speaking with moral righteousness, "Since it was Zhiwen and Zhiwu who pushed you into the water, then we must have your grandma stew an old hen for you to calm your nerves."
Chicken soup!!
Jiang Mianmian's eyes lit up and she instantly changed her tune, "Dad, you're right. I received a huge fright falling into the water today, cough cough—"
She covered her chest and began to cough weakly.
Watching her immediately change her expression, Jiang Changhai and Su Wanyu were quite proud inside: That's their daughter!
So, the three of them huddled together, whispering plans, then fell asleep with smiles on their faces.

"Today I am definitely going to give Eldest and his wife a good talking to; they're always shirking work and being lazy as if food just falls from the sky!" Zhang Guihua grumbled as she walked in, storming furiously into the house.
Sun Lixia followed behind with feigned concern, "Mom, calm down. Brother and sister-in-law aren't lazy for the first time, you mustn't upset yourself to the point of illness."
Deep down, however, she was eager for her mother-in-law to really give the Eldest and his wife a severe scolding, and to make her sister-in-law go cut rice in the fields, too.
Why should the sister-in-law get to do the easy jobs when they were both daughters-in-law of the Old Jiang Family?
Feeling indignant, she then saw Jiang Changhai with a thunderous look as he pulled open the door, "Mom, how are we going to settle this matter with Zhiwen and Zhiwu pushing Mianmian into the river?!"
"What?" Zhang Guihua's fury was immediately extinguished by the question.
Sun Lixia was quick to react, "It was clearly San Ya who fell into the water herself; it's got nothing to do with Zhiwen and Zhiwu!"
Her two sons, however, immediately hung their heads guiltily and swallowed nervously.
"Speak! Why did you push Mianmian into the river?!" Jiang Changhai glared fiercely, interrogating his two nephews like a wrathful deity.
The two boys shuddered in fear, with the older one stuttering in denial, "No, no, it wasn't me who pushed her!"
"Nor was it me," the younger one quickly shook his head in agreement.
Sun Lixia was even more vehement as she opened her arms to protect her sons, shouting discontentedly, "Eldest brother, how can you intimidate children like this as an adult?"
"If they weren't so stubborn, I would even spank them," Jiang Changhai, far from backing down, brandished his fist and threatened more fiercely than before.
The two boys instinctively covered their behinds, fearing Uncle would again beat them till their butts were blooming.
"You bastard, are you going to hit me and your father too?!" Seeing her son acting so brazenly, Zhang Guihua, enraged, attempted to smack him on the back.
Jiang Changhai dodged agilely backwards, not forgetting to shout loudly, "They almost drowned my girl by pushing her into the water; even if I killed them for it, it would be justified!"
Working on the farm every day gave his mother strength not much less than a man's, and a slap from her would certainly leave a bruise.
"Bullshit! San Ya is right here, all safe and sound!" Zhang Guihua pointed angrily at her granddaughter on the bed, with rosy cheeks.
"Cough cough~" Jiang Mianmian immediately put on a frail face and coughed twice.
If she couldn't swim, or if she really were a child of eight, being pushed into the water suddenly would have indeed caused some fright.
Jiang Changhai snorted, "That's only because my girl is blessed with a good fate that she wasn't drowned! Anyway, I don't care, Mianmian was frightened by Zhiwen and Zhiwu pushing her into the water; she must have a bowl of chicken soup to settle her nerves."
Hearing him actually taking aim at the family's old hen, Zhang Guihua's voice rose eight octaves, "I think you're out of your mind!"
