When morning arrived, Elizabeth woke up and pushed the blanket aside which covered her. She wondered if she was the one who covered herself with blanket in sleep because she was sure that she didn't use it before sleeping. She then looked at the sun rays falling on the doors of her balcony. Her feet touched the floor, padding itself to feel the fresh air which blew through her hair after opening the doors. The birds on the trees were chirping which was no less than a melodious song. She caught the sight of a beautiful lake from where the bright sun appeared to be rising from the water. The sky was filled with radiant colours with the sun that was rising. If only time could halt at this moment, she thought tucking her hair behind her ear.
The girl was indulged in the beauty of nature and had not noticed that there was someone whose gaze was fixed upon her. Aaron was on a call before Elizabeth opened the doors of the balcony. Elizabeth shifted her gaze to the place where he was standing and time froze for the couple. The sun's rays fell on her which made her skin shine bright in the early hours of the morning. They both stared at each other which didn't even last for even a minute but it was enough of him to take his breath away by just looking at her. Though it was difficult for Aaron, left the place talking to the person on the phone while Elizabeth stood there motionless.
She looked around, to her left and then her right. The house which belonged to Aaron was in the vicinity of a beautiful lake. The house was simple, simple in a way she wanted to live her life. The colours of the wall and the bed covers were in her favorite color. The flowers in the vases which gave a classic fragrance to the room were also her favorite. She didn't understand what the man was up to by doing it, was he trying to impress her. That cannot be because there was no reason for him to do it when there was no love for her in his heart.
He says that he disgusts her and leaves but comebacks to her to make her his wife and brings her to his house, a house just like he promised her when they were in their teens. A man like him was hard to understand not only for her but to everyone.
After coming out of the bath, Grace came into the bedroom to inform Elizabeth about breakfast. Grace was in his fifties, there were only five servants in the house including the driver who was her husband.
"Does your young master like blue?" Elizabeth asked the old maid about the colours on walls, she noticed how he was being addressed the other day when they entered into the house.
"I do not know about it madam," the maid replied politely, she didn't kno why her mistress was asking about it.
"Why don't you ask your husband directly," came Aaron's voice from the door. Aaron signed with his hand at the maid to leave the room and she did with a bow. Elizabeth's body stiffened as he approached her
"Do you not know which colour I like Lizzy?" he whispered into her ear.
His whisper tickled her leading her heart beat faster than usual. This man always aims at her weakness. He knew that his whisper was her weakness. He was sure that she was out of words with his whisper but Elizabeth was not going to let him win.
"I know about the guy who loved me eight years ago, but not about a heartless man who doesn't care about people's feelings and takes advantage of people to fulfill his selfish deeds," She replied curtly looking into his eyes and noticed his devilish smirk grew brighter.
"Huh!! Are you provoking me, sweetheart ?" Aaron huffed, he was still close to her but there was a little space between them.
"Think what you may. I don't care," she answered, not breaking her eyes with his.
She didn't want to be a weak soul and be a puppet in his hands. It was being hard for her to look at him but she didn't want his ego and arrogance to win over her. Their gaze broke when Elizabeth's phone rang. Aaron was quick to turn his head and see the phone on the bed.
"Liam Winscet!" Aaron spelled the name which appeared on her phone screen. Elizabeth took her phone to put it in silent mode. She didn't want to talk to him, not now, when her mind was not settled because Aaron.
"What? aren't you gonna accept his call? You don't have to hide it from me. I know about you and him. Do you like him now, Lizzy?" she shot a glare at him.
"It isn't something you should be concerned with," she said, and took her bag with her to leave but he stopped her grasping her wrist with one hand and pushed her hair softly behind to see her neck. He checked, the redness was now disappeared.
"Where are you leaving early in the morning. Have breakfast with me," she heard Aaron's voice and looked at him quizzically.
"It's our first day as a married couple, I don't want others to think that we are not on good terms the very next day of our marriage," he said and saw Elizabeth nod in agreement after thinking for few seconds.
"You haven't answered me, where are you going, to meet him?" he asked, irked that she was meeting a man.
"Why do you want to know," she replied and walked out of their room.
"Isn't it obvious, I want to know where my wife is leaving when she resigned her job," he followed her as soon as she left.
"I didn't resign, you forced me to do it. I don't understand what is going on your mind, Aaron," she shook her head in dismay.
"I have many things in my mind," he mumbled to himself. There was a small smile on his face as he looked at his wife from behind. The servants who were waiting for them, noticed a subtle smile struck his lips when the tips of her hair touched his face. He was a person who would care about what people think, the man was always least bothered about people around him. He had his ways of dealing with things and people but when it was Elizabeth, his heart makes him do things instead of his mind.
The food was severed when the couple sat at the dining table to have their breakfast. The peaceful atmosphere was ruined when her phone vibrated for the second time but Elizabeth turned off the vibrate mode immediately. Her actions were not missed by the man who was seated opposite her. Elizabeth raised her head to see him already looking at her.
"Looks like someone is desperate to talk to my wife early in the morning," Aaron commented taking a spoonful of food into his mouth.
"You shouldn't speak when you know nothing," she glared at him and continued to eat.
"Then why don't you enlighten me about your relation with him," he gave her a smile but she knew there was a different meaning behind it.
"I might mistake that you are jealous of Liam if you continue to ask me about him, or are you?" she replied and smiled when she saw his smile fade away slowly.
"Tch! I don't care what you two do as long as your relation does not taint my name in the society," he scoffed.
"Did you forget that you hid my information from the media. People wouldn't know about us even if we walk together. You haven't even commented about the rumours, so it might stay that way as well. You're a bachelor in everyone's eyes," it was true that there were rumours about his marriage which was why the paparazzi followed him but the rumours will die soon with time as he hadn't given an answer to it.
"You're right. I don't have to worry even if you have an affair with him, is that you you meant?" His words pricked her heart, what happened to the person she loved, she thought but didn't raise her voice. It would be her stupidity to have a conversation with him at this moment when he strongly believed she had a relation with Liam, then again, why would he marry her if he had such an impression on her.
