Chapter 5 - 5 Karoth

Karoth then ran back to Gavin and climbed around his neck once again. Gavin had raised Karoth since the second he had broken his way out of his egg. Gavin's father was a raider, specifically a high rank, his name was known throughout the entire green lizard clan. "Leo Parker, the man with fists of steel" Gavin's father was a brawler class raider, a raider who specialized in hand to hand combat, in the literal sense. Brawlers were often seen using gauntlets as weapons so that they could get close and pummel there opponents. Although Gavin's father had been very powerful, there was one enemy that had finally bested him. Twelve years ago Leo Parker and his raiding party managed to get to the end of the Greater dungeon, and at the end there was a beast more powerful than any they had ever seen. A boss monster, this beast was later named the great drake. The battle with the boss had cost Leo Parker his life, but When killed, the creature was found to have been protecting one single egg. All of the dungeon heart's power had been transferred into this egg. Inside of this egg, was the small drake now known as Karoth. It was Leo's last request to give the egg to his son, Gavin Parker.

Gavin and Derek sat, drank and talked for about an hour and a half before they noticed how late it was getting and decided to go to their rooms so they wouldn't feel crappy in the morning, before the next raid when they woke up. They chatted for a bit longer on the street and eventually split off to head to their rooms. Derek wasn't fully drunk, he just had a light buzz, so he wasn't worried about a hangover. He was so excited to wake up in the morning and test out his abilities in action that he didn't get a good amount of sleep.

He woke up the next morning to Karoth licking his face. "Wake up sleepyhead" He heard Gavin say in a joking manner. He was obviously trying not to laugh "How the h*ll did you even get in my room again Gavin?" asked Derek, laughing. "I have my ways" he pointed to Derek's window. It was wide open. "oh come on Gavin it was just starting to get warm after last time!" They both started laughing. A couple minutes later they were both geared up and ready to go. "Now, Karoth, you ready to go kill some monsters?" The little beast was excited by the thought of combat, and purred in delight, " Now that's the spirit, lets go Derek" After saying this, Gavin walked up to the window, grabbed the windowsill, and launched himself over it into the street below. "Why can't he ever just use the door?" sighed Derek. Although in the end, he did the same, catching himslef just before he tripped to keep himself upright. It was time to go kill some monsters.
