The sound of the giant beast's ear piercing roar echoed of the dungeon walls, it filled Derek's ears as he ran toward the beast, resounding within the very depths of his soul. Derek knew this battle would be very difficult, but he was confident him and Gavin could end up killing the beast in the end. Derek dashed forward and launched himself at the beast, arm out-stretched. Then, it was gone. "BEHIND YOU!" Shouted Gavin. Red hot pain surged through Derek's body, filling his head. "Gyahhh...." A sound somewhere between a sigh, sob, and groan escaped from Derek's body as he slammed against the wall. Even as he fell to the floor, a crater was clearly visible where he had made impact " Karoth! ATTACK" The small Drake surged forward, mouth wide open. A cracking sound, loud as a gunshot, filled the air. A cloud of dust was thrown back into the air. And then, in an instant, Karoth was latched onto the creature's back. The little drake dug his back claws in tight, he wouldn't let go, claw-strike after claw-strike, each digging deeper into the giant feline creature's flesh. Derek couldn't help but smirk a little as he looked at Karoth, relentlessly tearing away at the beast's back. Derek let out a groan as he forced himself to his feet, he wouldn't let his friends fight alone for his sake.
Derek surged with adrenaline as he Dashed from his place at the wall, the beast had left a hole in nearly every wall in the room in his attempts to throw off Karoth. More importantly, it was distracted. Instead of lunging at the monster like last time, Derek pushed off the ground as as hard as he could, sending himself almost directly up but slightly angled towards the beast. Derek reared his arm above him, tensed the muscles in his shoulder, pulling the ligaments in the blade like arm attached to his right shoulder taught, and then swung down with all his might. "HYAAAAAAA!" His arm cut through the matted fur of the creature and lodged itself into the muscle of its shoulder-blade.
The creature let out an ear piercing roar that rattled Derek's skull. It was practically made completely out of muscle so when Derek tried to tear his arm from the wound, he couldn't. "Godd*mnit!" He had an idea. Derek firmly planted his feet in the matted fur covering the body of the beast, then he pushed with all of his power, away from the beast. Derek flew backwards and slammed into the floor, flat on his back. All air had escaped his lungs as he laid on the floor, gasping for air. The beast had been left with a deep gash in its shoulder. Karoth was still rooted firmly on the beast's back. "Karoth, return!" Shouted Gavin.
Before the Drake had jumped from the beast's back, a plume of smoke filled the air, and it started to smell of burnt flesh. In an instant, The creature was back at Gavin's side, it's throat glowing red hot. "Good job, little guy, that's new!" Said Gavin as he proudly grinned from ear to ear. Derek had pushed himself back to his feet and was now standing next to Gavin and Karoth, a resolute look had taken hold on his face. The monster turned towards them. Another blood-curdling roar filled the air although, this time it was distorted with pain. Blood was splattered on the floor where Derek had originally stabbed the creature. His lip tilted slightly upward, the pain in the creatures last scream meant one thing. They had managed to hurt it.
This raid was originally planned to be a quick expedition into the outer ring, this is why they didn't bring the whole party. But they were slowly getting closer to taking out this massive beast, they had made it feel pain. Derek swung his blade like arm towards the floor, flinging the droplets of blood from his blade, and planted his feet. They would kill this beast.
