"Xu Mi, do you know how many times I've been calling you?" as her mom opened the door and saw her standing right by the window.
"What are you trying to do? Gonna make a big fuss before going to college?" as her mom says and bring in a bowl of soup.
Xu Mi turns and gives her mom a glare. "What are you thinking, mom?" as she closed the curtains and sat in her chair.
"Drink the soup. I made it this morning."
Xu Mi takes the bowl and starts drinking it.
"I heard Xiao Han came back," as her mom says.
Xu Mi didn't say anything and just kept drinking her soup.
"Your auntie Zhang has invited us over for dinner today. So, please dress properly."
"Dress properly? This isn't dress appropriate?" as Xu Mi looks at herself. A white short sleeve, and black sweatpant.
"I don't know how come I give birth to such a daughter like this." She then went to her closet and looked through her closet. Besides sweats and sweats there's nothing else.
"Xu Mi, don't tell me you use the allowance we give you to buy only these clothes." Her mom looks at her unsatisfied.
"What's wrong with that? I like it and what's more important is that 'very dress appropriate'. Plus we're only going over to Auntie Zhang's house to eat dinner. It's not like we haven't done that before."
Xu Mi then gulps the last bit of the soup and hands the bowl over to her mom.
"It's really fine mom. Auntie Zhang watched me grow up, and plus she won't mind how I dress," as she quickly says to her mom whose face is very dark.
"Xu Mi, tomorrow you're going shopping with me. Anyway you are still a girl. You need some more besides…. these," as she can't even take another look at her closet.
"Mom, you're being mean to my clothes. There's nothing wrong with it," as Xu Mi saids.
"You'll regret it once you have a boyfriend." Her mom didn't say anything else and left the room.
Xu Mi went to open her laptop, and finish the game that she left off before.
She didn't know how long she had been playing and a knock came on her door.
"Xu Mi, get change. We're going in ten minutes," as her mom calls from the outside.
Xu Mi quickly said good bye to her friends and took off her headphones. As she was about to just walk out the room with the same outfit as before, she looked at herself through the mirror.
"Is it that bad?" as she looks at herself.
She opens her closet and changes herself into a new outfit.
"What?" as she noticed her mom looking at her.
"Nothing. I'm definitely bringing you shopping tomorrow." She then walks out the door, and her father gives a shrug, and follows his wife out.
"I did change though." Xu Mi looks down at herself. A new white t-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers. "I'm not even wearing sweats," as Xu Mi saids and walks out the house.
Xiao's house is only across the street.
The door opens and it is Xiao Han's older brother, Xiao Fan.
"Hey," as Xu Mi saids, and both of them did a fist bump that seemed like only they knew.
"Xu Mi, Xiao Fan is older than you. Don't be so impolite," as her mother saids.
"Am I impolite to you?" as she asks Xiao Fan.
Xiao Fan smiles, "Auntie Xu, it's fine. I treat Xu Mi as my younger sister."
Xu Mi gives a 'you see look' to her mother and walks in.
"When did you come?" as she sees Xiao Han standing there with his hands inside his pant pocket.
"This is my house. I like to come and stay whenever I want too. You have a problem?" as he saids coldly.
Xu Mi looks at him, "have you eaten a bomb or something?" Before in the afternoon when she saw him, he was fine but now he's like on fire or something.
Xiao Han walked past her and went to greet her parents.
"Xiao Han, how was training?" as Xu Mi's father asks.
"I just finished training, and will be staying home for the next two months," he saids with a more polite voice than before.
Xu Mi gives him a side look, and mouth 'fake.'
"Xu Mi, you guys came," as Zhang Li came out from the kitchen.
"Auntie Zhang," as Xu Mi smiles and walks up to help her set the table.
Shortly, Xiao Heng came back from work.
"Uncle Xiao," as Xu Mi greets him.
Her father and Xiao Heng are business partners, and both families have been very close for many years.
They greeted each other and went to the dining table to eat.
As Xu Mi is about to sit down next to Xiao Fan, Xiao Han pushes her over to the other seat and sits down.
"Xiao Han, what are you doing?" as Xu Mi lowers her voice and asks.
"He's my brother. He needs to sit next to me, so is there a problem?" as he asks while eyeing on her.
"You are so childish," she saids and sat down at the seat next to him.
"What did you say?" as he saids.
"Xiao Han, don't tease Xu Mi." Zhang Li gives a look to her second son.
As they were eating, Xu Mi sees the shrimp in front of her. But she finds it annoying to peel it.
She looks at her dad and smiles.
Of course her dad knows what she means. Her mom shakes her head and sees her husband peeling shrimps for their daughter.
" I don't even have this kind of service," as her mom says and gives a death stare to her husband.
"Fine, I'll be both of you girls' peeling shrimp slaves," as her father saids.
Zhang Li finds it funny and adorable, then looks at her husband. Xiao Heng, very helpless, gives a stare at his business partner, who started this.
Both sons gave a thumbs up to their father and they couldn't hold in, and laughed.
"What's so funny? I'm telling you, one day you boys will do that to your girlfriends too," as their mother saids.
Xiao Han gives a look to his brother. "I'll make sure to have a camera out that day," he saids.
"You want a fight?" as Xiao Fan saids and gives him a hard stare.
"Fight then fight. I'm all ready," as Xiao Han said.
Shortly, dinner is over and Zhang Li tells Xu Mi to just go out, and just leave the dishes to them.
In the living room, both men are talking about their business.
"What are you doing?" as Xiao Han walks down the stairs and looks at Xu Mi.
"Nothing." Xu Mi looks at him as water drips down from his hair.
"Are you okay?" as he asks her and waves his hand in front of her.
Xu Mi's eyes then shifted away, and moved back a little.
"I-I'm fine."
*Ding*
Xu Mi opens her phone and it's a message from Xiao Fan.
"Xu Mi, don't say I didn't help you."
She then opens the picture and her eyes are wide open.
"What are you looking at?" Xiao Han says as he sees the stun Xu Mi staring down at her phone.
Xu Mi didn't answer him, so he walked up to her.
Xiao Han is 6 feet, and Xu Mi is only 5 feet 3.
He then snatch the phone from her hand, and he as well is surprise.
"Where did you get this?" as he saids.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" as Xu Mi gives him a stare.
