-Corridors – Going to Charms' Classroom-

"Did you seriously choose Divination as one of your electives?" Terry asked Anthony, "I know you don't think wisely when you're going to do something, but you realize how useless this class is, right?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, Divination is one of the most important branches of magic" Anthony replied.

"Of course, and besides you, a total of four people believe that, and three of them are in an asylum," I said dryly.

"What is an asylum?" he asked me confused.

"Pureblood" I snorted.

Anthony then looked at me confused before shrugging.

"But back to the point, I know it would be worth a lot to learn Divination because my family has a history of having seer blood running through our veins," he said, and an image of Queenie Goldstein immediately came to my mind, who even though she wasn't a seer, she was still someone with a special ability.

'One of the greatest Legilimences in the world, and also Newt Scamander's sister-in-law' I thought, and then I lifted my hand to rub my chin, 'By the way, can I convince Nick to introduce me to Newt? I'd like to see what creatures he has in his suitcase'

"Do you have seer blood?" Terry asked with an odd look, bringing me back into the conversation, "So why haven't I ever seen you make any predictions?"

"Sigh... This is an ability that cannot be used at any time, only in moments of importance" Anthony said, looking off into space with a dignified and serene gaze, "And besides, we don't choose when we're going to predict the future, but fate and magic that choose to show us signs and scenes so that we can change the world with our predictions"

""Aham"" Terry and I said, obviously not convinced.

While Anthony kept trying to convince us that he might be a possible seer, we arrived in front of Charms' classroom door.

The door was open, and looking into the room we noticed that Professor Flitwick was at his desk and that a few students were already seated in their seats.

We then went inside and went to sit down, and choosing the middle seats that were in the right row, we sat down.

"Hi Professor," I said as I sat down, noticing Professor Flitwick looking at me.

"Hello Ethan, I heard from Professor Lupine about your little stunt on the train yesterday," the little professor said with an analytical look. Then a happy and somewhat proud smile appeared on his face, "I guess you'll never stop surprising me, am I right?"

"Hmm, let's just say I like surprising people," I said with a cheeky little smile.

"Or more how you like to show off," Terry muttered under his breath, and I nudged him with my elbow.

"Well Ethan, so I hope the next time you go to surprising someone, I'll be around to see it," Professor Flitwick said, and I nodded at him.

"So it's a deal," I said, and then we heard the start of class bell ring, ending our conversation.

-After Charms Class-

Walking through the corridors of the castle after the end of our first class, the boys and I were chatting over the short review Professor Flitwick had given us of the spells we'd learned over the previous two years.

I didn't have any problems with the review, as I'm usually used to practicing all the spells I've ever learned, even the most basic and common ones.

But the same could not be said of the boys.

"How was I supposed to know that a simple tea-warming spell would be in the review?" Stephen asked, being one of the students who didn't do well in the review.

"On the bright side, at least you managed to cast it on your seventh try, and that's a spell we learned in the first month of our first year, so it's not that surprising you forget about it" Terry said with a shrug.

He then turned to Anthony with a mocking smile on his face that would have made Michael and Malfoy proud.

"Unlike Anthony here, who took him fifteen tries to cast the Shrinking Charm, and that was the last spell we learned in our second year," he said, and Anthony turned to him with a scowl.

"For your information, I'm becoming very skilled and proficient at casting this spell," Anthony said.

"Dude, if mastery of this spell was split into multiple levels, and the proficient level was the third level... You'd still be in the tutorial" Terry said, and Anthony's left eye started to twitch.

"Says the guy who managed to transfigure a porcupine into a mug" Anthony snapped.

"And who said this is a bad thing?" Terry asked with a raised eyebrow.

"The spell had to turn the porcupine into a pincushion," Anthony said dryly.

"Oh" Terry said.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"But you can't deny that was a really nice mug," Terry said, and Anthony just snorted in contempt.

"Maybe if it was done by a 5 year old," he said.

"Yes, yes. Whatever you say, seer boy" Terry rolled his eyes, not the least bit offended, already accepting how terrible he is at the branch of magic called Transfiguration.

"Sigh... I'm surrounded by idiots" Michael said.

"Shut up Michael"" Terry and Anthony said in sync, and Michael just snorted mockingly.

'I should have chosen Hufflepuff' I thought, looking at nothing in reflection.

-Hagrid's Hut-

After our Charms class the boys and I split up as they had to go to their electives, with Anthony and surprisingly Michael going to Divination class and Terry and Stephen going to Arithmancy class.

As I hadn't chosen Arithmancy, Divination, or Muggle Studies as electives, I had the second morning class schedule free, so I decided to take advantage of that time by going to visit Hagrid, who would have his first Care of Magical Creatures class after lunch.

"So how are you Ethan?" my half-giant friend asked me, pouring me a cup of tea.

"I'm fine, but I'm the one who should be asking you this question," I said, feeling nervousness seeping out of Hagrid, "How are you feeling? Excited for your first class as a teacher?" I asked.

"I'm feeling great, I have an amazing resume prepared and I know everyone is going to love it. I couldn't be more excited," he said, trying to keep a confident smile on his face.

"Hagrid" I called.

"Yes?"

"Your hand is shaking... And you're putting salt in your tea instead of sugar," I said, and Hagrid quickly looked at the spoon and jar in his hands, realizing that it really was salt.

"By Merlin's beard," Hagrid said, and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Calm down Hagrid, I know you'll do well in your first class." I said, "Just don't forget to talk to the Headmaster about which creatures you'll show us and the students of the other years"

"What does that mean?" he asked me confused.

"That means sometimes you can go overboard and get really excited, plus some creatures you like might not be very safe to show to some students," I said.

"Oh, absurd. These creatures are inoffensive." Hagrid waved a hand dismissively.

"Hagrid, I'm serious. I like magical creatures, but even I recognize that not all of them are good or docile" I started to say, a serious look on my face as I looked into Hagrid's eyes, "If by chance an accident happens, and it can happen, the students can be injured, or worse, killed, and when that happens, you and the Headmaster will be in trouble."

As I said that, Hagrid was looking at me with a frown of concern, listening to my every word.

"I'm not saying you can't show us some cool creatures, but it would be nice if you could ask for advice and opinions from the other teachers. You're new to the teaching position, so you probably don't know what to do"I said, feeling sick as I looked into Hagrid's sad eyes, realizing that all his excitement and joy had faded.

"Sigh... I understand" he said, and then he turned to me with a sad smile, "I think I'll ask Dumbledore for help, I know he likes magical creatures almost as much as I do"

"Well, and if you ask him for help, you might even try to convince Fawkes to be one of the creatures you're going to teach us about. You'd probably be one of the first, or even the only professor at Hogwarts and the entire world to bring a phoenix for a lesson," I said, and that seemed to cheer Hagrid up again.

"Oh, you're right," he said, with a twinkle in his eye, "But how can I convince Dumbledore to let me bring Fawkes to a lesson?"

"You don't need the Headmaster's permission, Hagrid, you need the permission of Fawkes himself" I rolled my eyes, "And I'm sure Fawkes would be very happy to help you"

'And I can also talk to Fawkes. Maybe bribe him with some candy' I thought.

"Oh, but convincing Fawkes will probably be as difficult as convincing Headmaster Dumbledore," Hagrid said.

"Don't worry, you'll make it" I said, getting up and walking over to him, climbing up on a chair to pat his shoulder, "And I'm really excited for your lessons."

"Thanks Ethan, I just hope the students enjoy my classes too" Hagrid said, with a little nervousness and anticipation, and immediately Malfoy and his group came to my mind.

Looking at Hagrid and his enthusiasm for wanting to teach, I couldn't help but frown as I thought about the Buckbeak incident.

'Well, I might not be able to make Malfoy gain any good sense, but I can stop him from interfering with Hagrid's class' I thought, a plan forming in my mind and a sly smile breaking out on my face.

End.

(End AN: I'm sorry I haven't posted any chapters this week, but this past week has been very busy for me because of family matters, the election of my country's new president, and some other personal matters.

I will go back to publishing the chapters normally, that is, with four chapters a week... or at least that's what I hope. Thank you for the patience!)
