Chapter 33 - [Butcherers Cleaver]

Soon enough, they group arrived at the Estate and headed towards the storage building rather than the manor.

Kage was going to lead them towards the manor, but Gunthir preferred working than socialising, especially since he saw the sheer size of the estate.

Based on the time he'd spent around Alynthn, he knew a couple things about the city and its noble society.

One thing he knew for sure was the importance to display their wealth among themselves.

They had their own way of showcasing their absurd wealth, like once he heard a noble household purchase all the hairs removed from the hides when crafting leather.

It caused a ridiculous surge in price for something that was not kept around so it would be sold off for cheap to craft glue or for other uses.

Because of the sudden surge in price, other items that required the hairs, like glue or clothing in some parts of the empire, ended up soaring in price.

It wasn't until the Adventurer Guild got involved and influenced the cities market by flooding it with materials that were affected.

In the end, the Guild recuperated their costs by forcing the hand of the nobles responsible for the trend.

He remembered at the time, that household had just finished construction on the largest estate within the city.

Because of the fine imposed by the Guild, they had to offer their home up for sale.

At the time, Gunthir and a couple of his friends from the market wondered by to see the estate at the time.

From what they could see from afar, the entire estate was a magnificent sight for the eyes.

The gold and jewels used to decorate the estate made it shine as bright as the sun.

It was displayed everywhere…

From the paved path leading to the manor, all the way to the gardens and grounds surrounding the manor.

To his surprise, he was now walking through that very manor all these years later.

The clear difference between then and now was the lack of wealth displayed as before.

There were no golden paths with jewels encrusting the sides of the paths and walls.

There weren't lanterns encrusted in gold and silver decorated throughout the estate grounds.

Now it they were all painted with bright colours, adding to the luscious greenery surrounding the manor and remaining area.

Only in the distance did the white marble training ground glistened above the rest.

Gunthir felt out of everything he had seen so far that area had to be the showiest part of the estate.

Soon enough they arrived outside the expansive storage building as Kage directed them inside.

Ben asked Kage via the systems assistance if he was sure about this, but Kage assured him that he had everything ready.

Once they entered, Gunthir was stunned by the piles of dead beasts littered throughout the building.

He was amazed by the amount.

From the floor, all the way to the ceiling, the entire building was stuffed with dead beasts.

It was insane.

All that was going through his mind was how they were able to kill so many and with so little damage to beasts as well.

He'd been working as a butcherer long enough to know the amount adventurers or hunters would typically bring in to be skinned or butchered for meat.

In comparison, they had hunted 1000 times more than the average amount he'd see daily go through his shop with all his butcherers and apprentices working together.

Gunthir was about to say something, since there was no way he could manage all these beasts alone, so he turned to his old pal for some help.

However, Val was in a worse situation than himself.

Val had fainted at the sight of the beasts, luckily Kage was close enough to catch him as he collapsed.

When he saw Vals pitful sight, Gunthir laughed heartedly, as he would never let Val live this moment down for as long as he was around.

Gunthir scanned through numerous types of beasts that were littered around.

He was quite amazed by the variety of beasts, especially the breed of wolves and deers in the piles of beasts.

He even saw some rare beasts that weren't found in these areas, rather they were found in other dangerous areas across the Merahs continent.

Kage noticed Gunthir hadn't said anything other than laughing at Master Val and foraging through the piles checking the beasts.

"Gunthir sir, would you like some tea or some food?"

"Ahh, yeah. Whatever you have is fine. Hey squirt… is it alright if I get to work?"

"Hmm I don't know, Uncle Gungy. You'll have to ask Benny."

Tia then left with Kage, since she didn't want to be around when Uncle Gungy began work so she left to join her Mama and sister Agatha in the manor.

Gunthir watched her leave as she hummed some random tune while Kage carried her within his arms.

He was about to say something but saw that the boy hadn't left.

Rather he was intensely staring back at Gunthir, which gave him the quite a fright.

"H-hey kid… Why are you staring at me so intensely?

Plus, where did Tia just leave to?"

"Ohh sorry Uncle Gungy, I was just waiting for you to start.

I'm quite interested actually in how to properly skin and butcher a beast.

I've been somewhat taught by Kage, but it was horrible, and he wasted a lot of the beast meat and damaged the hide.

Oh, and Tia is off playing with mother and Agatha in the manor."

Gunthir accepted Bens words and unpacked his tools on the Bench before he started working.

He wore a leather apron to guard against the blood, while putting on a pair of heavy boots and gloves before he grabbed a beast from the pile.

"Hey kiddo, I suggest you watch and listen closely alright?"

"Yes sir"

Gunthir began examining the type of beast he chose.

Thankfully, it was an easier beast to handle for beginners. It was a Black tailed hare with three horns protruding from it's forehead.

The small beast was around the length of Gunthirs arms, but not as wide.

It seemed fairly malnourished, but its hide and quality of horns told a different story.

Lost in the examination of the hare, Gunthir forgot to say anything or explain the steps he was taking to Ben since the rarely got to deal with such fresh beasts.

He could still feel the warmth in their blood, only happened if they were just hunted.

Gunthir really wanted to ask some questions, but he knew his status wasn't enough to ask such things, so he stayed quiet and continued his work.

Ben quickly got bored and annoyed that Gunthir did not explain anything and continued on working.

He didn't mind he diligence to his work, but he wanted to learn more than just observing the cuts and strokes he made.

He was about to say something, suddenly the systems cold robotic voice sounded in his head.

[Host, the system has found a program that could be beneficial for the host at the point in time…

Would host like to install the program into the system?]

"What it's the 'program' your about to install?

How will it benefit me?"

[The program will accelerate the speed you absorb knowledge.

The Host will be prompted before starting the program.

The Host can also use the program to improve current skills and abilities]

"Very well, install the program."

A piercing pain behind his eyes nearly caused Ben to cry out aloud.

Though covered his eyes and started rubbing them to deal with the immense pain.

What felt like a lifetime, lasted for a couple of seconds before the pain suddenly stopped.

He slowly opened his watery eyes.

He rubbed away his tears since he didn't want Gunthir to see his current state.

However, when his vision cleared, a prompt immediately appeared before his sore eyes.

[Would Host like to activate (???) Learning…]

'Why the hell does it always have to be so damn broken that it can't even fucking name its own programs.'

Ben thought as he looked at the prompt before him.

He accepted, curious how quickly it would help him to learn.

'Holy fucking shit' was the only way Ben could describe the shock and awe of the learning function.

The system helped guide his mind along the correct path require to skin the beast.

From draining the blood to maximising the most out of the beast meat and carcass.

The system showed him everything.

As he watched Gunthir work, he saw his butcher knives slicing along the path guided by the system.

Gunthir years of practice, knowledge and skill was showcased before him.

The way he handled his knife, and the beast was masterful.

Bens quickly got close to Gunthir since he wanted to closely examine the knives and tools.

As his mind turned to the knife beside the bench, unused and sparkling from the faint light coming through the window to the side.

That very knifes information popped up before Bens eyes.
