Once Val rushed inside, he noticed the stockpile of the beasts hard reduced quite a lot, not only that, but he also saw crates, barrels and jars containing organs, blood, bones, and other materials.
He'd know something was up since he had known butcherers would never work a beast so thoroughly to extract as many resources and materials as possible.
Gunthir was a very well-known among the adventurers and the people of the city.
However, his level of mastery and skill was always lacking. Based on Vals own observations, Gunthir chose not to show his complete level of ability.
Something always held him back and Val knew it had something to do with his kids, so he never wanted to pry.
Therefore, he never interfered since he had his own problems to deal with.
Over years he saw how he didn't quite bother with his workshop, rather leaving the duties to his youngest, the mouthy rascal Billy.
Val saw the child grow up quickly to adapt to the world of business and his family struggles, much like his own daughter.
Then again, he chose not to interferer since they had similar issues and problems.
Though someone was there to clean up behind them.
Val would hear the numerous stories of the other butcherers ignoring the little rascal, not caring for his words since he wasn't worthy of their respect.
Only then did lil Billy push the boundaries surrounding him and challenged the others around him for supremacy.
Once he showed the rest his strength and ability as a butcherer, the other came into line, stopping the constant issues and problems they would cause the lil rascal.
Once Billy became in charge, only then did Val notice some change in his old friend Gunthir.
What once was of his friend may not have returned, but his eyes had a little sparkle that shined alone in the hollow dullness.
Around that time, he met his own little champion that pushed him through his own rut.
A promise to help accomplish an unachievable goal.
However, once he got to know his little disciple, he saw what it meant to be around companions, around friends.
It wasn't much, but it was far more than he deserved.
Now his disciple and Gunthirs rascal were working away together.
He wanted to know if they could work alongside each other since the rest of Gunthirs crew weren't fond of someone new, especially someone of Bens stature.
However, the organised and efficient work occurring before him was evidence his disciple did something outrageous and out of the norm again.
"What the hell is going on around here?!"
Val shouted, gaining everyones attention on himself before they all ignored him and continued rushing about.
Even the servants of the estate didn't have time to stop and answer Val, leaving him alone to wonder what the hell happened.
First Gunthir disappeared and then reappeared covered and drenched in sweat. It even seemed like he lost some weight.
then he wondered into the storage building to find the number of beasts had thankfully reduced by a decent sum, but now they were storing a great number of materials that would typically be wasted or ignored.
Val wondered around the crates and chests, inspecting the various number of organs, bloods of beast and other materials laying around.
He never thought the blood of a beast could be valuable for any use, however people had extensively experimented and trialled with the beast bloods over generations without a conclusive use for them.
Before he could question the purpose, they were stored and being transported away, he heard the voices of the two little shits he had come here to find.
"Hey Master Val"
"Hey Uncle Vally, hows it going?"
The duo walked over, covered in fresh and dried guts and blood, unaware of the fearful gaze surrounding them.
Their appearance wasn't a pretty sight, rather if someone saw them that outside the estate's walls, many would think a mass murdered had appeared before them.
Their faces, hair and arms were all stained and drenched in blood.
Val nearly blacked out for a second before the realisation of what stood before him hit his mind.
He wondered how their current state was so goddamn repulsive to the eyes, but he wanted to just focus on one thing at a time.
It was all too much for his poor old fragile mind right now.
"You piece of shits have done something crazy again… I don't even want to know right now. Clean yourselves up. Go inside and introduce the rascal to your mother Boy. Ill stay here and make sure everyone keeps on top of it."
"Ok master."
"Done didilly done, Vally"
The two spoke while walking out the building towards the manor, before the servants guided the two towards the grounds to clean of the excess blood and filth covering them.
While they left, easing some of the tension they had created, the crew working eased up since they didn't have to match the two monsters speed of butchering.
They weren't lucky enough though, once Val noticed them slacking off, his voice started resounding out catching them off guard.
"Just because those little shits left, doesn't mean you pricks can slack off. I'm keeping an eye on the lot of ya, so don't bother to drag your feet along, otherwise I might just cut them off for ya…"
His deadly words caused the workers to quake in fear.
Some even had watery eyes.
They were all exhausted from the continuous work.
Since they didn't typically harvest this much of the beasts' materials, as well as moving and storing them was added work that was straining their mind and bodies.
Fortunately, Kage arrived and spoke some delightful words that brought a much-needed relief to the lot of them.
"The Young Masters Ben and Billy have asked you all take some rest, while the manor serves you all some food for your work.
The Lady of the estate would also like to thank you all for you work and has baked some fruit cake for you to enjoy."
They all shouted aloud in joy, the blood and guts stuck to their bodies flung high into the air, creating an inkling of bloody rainfall within the enclosure of the room.
They praised the lady of the estate for gifting them a precious fruit cake.
One must know such goods weren't difficult to acquire, but the problem was the costs were typically outlandish, restricting on the influential or wealthy left to purchase them.
Commoners would save up for months if not years to buy the precious items in large quantity, enough to feed not only themselves, but the people close to themselves and some to store for later.
It would be an event with many families and close friends gathering around to make the cakes together.
So, for the Lady to gift them all some fruitcake, and enough for the several dozens of them, it was something they never expected would happen in their lives.
Some hadn't even tasted cake before, only ever hearing tales of its miraculous taste.
The elders' ones among them already knew of the exquisite taste of cake they had experience throughout their lives so far, a handful of times.
But they were also the ones that were stunted by the amount required to feed the lost of them.
The cost alone would be tremendous compared to what they knew and experienced previously when they made their own with their own families.
Everyone celebrated and continued to work with greater enthusiasm and effort than previously. They all kept imagining the feast that would appear before them while they kept working away as some servants prepared some tables and benches for the workers to dine on. As they all worked away, Kage walked over and quietly sat beside Val watching everyone working away, only giving some advice every so often to the servants when asked.
"Hey… What the hell did you do to Gunthir? He disappeared and returned a moment later in a deplorable state."
Val questioned Kage, his tone was quite fierce and heavy.
He was angry his friend had been subjected to some kind of torture without knowing it over a small incident.
"F-forgive me… Master Val to be honest… I don't know…"
Kage shaky voice replied, for once he was afraid of his own actions.
He didn't know what effect they would have on Gunthir, but he knew his state of mind would definitely be affected.
"W-what… The… Hell… Did... You... Fucking… Do… To… My… Friend…!" a dark tone and heavy tone came from the steaming Val.
He fists were clenched so tight, that they were turning colour from the lack of blood circulating.
He really wanted to beat the son of a bitch beside him, but he withheld himself for now.
He already knew he wasn't a challenge for Kage, but he still wanted to pummel him as much as he could for harming his dear friend.
"… I think I might have sent him… somewhere he shouldn't have been…"
"Is that all you can say?"
"…Yes. For now, I don't even know how I did it. I just knew it was angry at Mister Gunthir for striking the Young Masters… I'm deeply sor-"
Before he finished, Val unleashed a barrage of strikes into Kage without mercy.
He roared with everything he had, uncaring of the many eyes glued to him by the surrounding workers and servants.
He just wanted to unleash some pain on the bastard before him.
Even Kage didn't stop him, he let Val unleash all the pain and angry he was carrying with him. Kage felt each strike in his chest, gut, face, everywhere. It all hurt. But it still wasn't enough to wash the guilt away.
He couldn't contain his anger and it caused him to lose himself and attack Gunthir.
Now he just hoped that Gunthir awoke without any damage to his soul or mind.
Val continued to punch away without any care, while Kage wallowed in sorrow over his actions as everyone just stood silently watching the two.
Once a couple moments passed, one of the servants got back to his task uncaring of the two fighting.
Soon enough everyone returned to their tasks, as Val kept striking Kage.
Everyone was rather focused on the food they were going to eat, so they couldn't be bothered with the two fighting away.
All that matter was cake.
