Once the lunar energy invaded his body, he couldn't stop shaking and the intense coldness didn't help. Surprisingly, he was the only one out of the 5 that was in this sort of condition.
Lisa walked forward to try and catch a glimpse of the Sun Crow. The entire group was never, they were too far into the test to back out now.
"D-Do we really h-have to fight tha-that monst-monster?" This time, instead of Michael or Liam complaining and nervously stuttering, it was Dean.
None of them said anything and approached the area of the Sun Crow. The Moon Crow on the other hand didn't dare get any closer because of the injuries it received from the Sun Crow previously.
Noticing this, Tempy looked back at the Moon Crow before advancing forward into the Sun Crow's area, They weren't doing this mainly for the Moon Crow, but to save their own selves from being expelled. Neither of them even know why they were assigned to defeat a boss Sun Crow. Sun Crows were hard enough but boss versions were even worse.
As the group got closer to the Sun Crow, the waves of solar energy calmed Dean down and stopped his shivering. Although his shivering stopped, he and everyone else had beads of sweat rolling down their heads. None of them weren't nervous as they could easily die from this battle.
As they slowly walked, their anxiousness reached its peak as they saw the Sun Crow right in front of them.
"Formation everyone!" Lisa whispered, not wanting to alert the Sun Crow too early and cause the entire plan to go downhill. Although they were weak, they had a slim chance of winning this battle. They really wanted the Moon Crow's help but it was evident that the crow was too scared of the crow which made sense.
Dean took the front while Michael and Lisa stood behind him. Liam and Tempy took the back. The reason for this was to surprise the Sun Crow multiple times during the battle. Since Lisa looked like she would be some type of support, the Sun Crow would most likely ignore her as well as Tempy.
It would only pay attention to Dean and Michael while Liam would cast weak curses on the crow to fool it into thinking that was all he could do. First Lisa would surprise the crow with her strength and then comes Liam with his katana. Although he wasn't as strong as Lisa, he was a little weaker than Michael which was still acceptable.
The Sun Crow was an arrogant creature by nature while the Moon Crow was an extremely cautious creature by nature. The Sun Crow would naturally ignore the enemies that looked weak which gives weak-looking and small-framed people the advantage in battle.
The group was planning to use this advantage two times in battle. The Sun Crow definitely wouldn't think both the frail-looking people were supports.
'CAW!'
As the group assumed their formation, the Sun Crow sensed their presence and became enraged. The pressure it was exuding intensified by a level, but the group kept their composure and walked forward.
As they were walking, a fast blast of pure solar energy was sent at them from the crow.
"I got it." Dean said as he took a stance and faced the attack head-on with his shield. The incoming blast impacted with the shield and a loud 'boom' erupted from the impact and caused a dent on the shield but other than that, Dean was fine except for some scratches.
"Tempy, use so-" before Dean could finish his words, Tempy was already casting a fire spell at the Sun Crow in front of them. The crow noticed the condensed energy building up in front of Tempy and swooped in to stop her from unleashing her attack but Michael, hesitantly rushed up to the Sun Crow.
Although he was afraid of the monster before him, Michael dished out multiple semi-precise swings that barely managed to hit their mark. Although the slashes hit the crow, they didn't cause as much damage as Michael anticipated. Visible scratches appeared on the crow's body but no blood spilled.
"Tch. This thing's tough, T-Tempy, are you finished with your sp-" Michael nervously said this while still attacking the crow, although he was interrupted as he felt an immense heat from behind him and immediately retreated.
'What the heck?' Michael was startled as he watched the fireball hit the Sun Crow on its left leg, causing a decent amount of damage. The Sun Crow let out a high-pitched screech as the fireball hit it. The wound it left looked like an extremely painful rash that leaked blood every few seconds.
Tempy didn't waste any time and began casting her next fire spell. She was confident that fire spells were more effective than water so she kept casting them.
Hearing the Sun Crow's loud screech, the Moon Crow was confused. It didn't know why it made such a painful sounding noise but it was definitely because of the humans it lead to its home.
Seeing the effective attack against the crow, Liam immediately cast a curse on the crow to try and weaken it even if just a little bit.
"Low-Ranked Curse Art: Withering!" Liam exclaimed as a symbol appeared in front of his hands before glowing and disappearing, reappearing on the crow's injured leg.
Liam didn't expect much to happen to the crow even though he cast withering on it.
Although the curse was weak, you don't see cursemen every day, or rather, you barely see them. They belong to a specific clan that practices curses and swordsmanship and hasn't been seen for a long time.
Liam was the son of one of the elders of the clan but his aptitude was below average so he was kicked from the clan by his own father.
After that happened, he didn't know what to do because all his life he spent training his curses and swordsmanship, although he was more fond of swordsmanship than curses. He always felt an indescribable attractiveness to the curses that disturbed him which was why he barely used them.
It was like getting addicted to drugs, it had a strong effect on him for reasons unknown to anyone. When he used the withering curse, his hands were unconsciously forming the positions to cast the curse again but he quickly gained control and focused on the Sun Crow.
Liam had his katana inside his school shirt on his back. He was waiting for the perfect moment to unleash a strike on the Sun Crow since it took him lightly.
After Liam successfully applied the curse to the Sun Crow, its leg was visibly rotting but the regeneration powers of the crow overpowered the curse by a wide margin. Dean took this chance and buffed the rest of the group and Michael didn't waste any time and immediately attacked the crow again.
This time his slashes were more precise and had more of an effect on the Sun Crow, he only aimed for the already injured leg which led to the slashes having even more of an effect on the crow. Every slash creating a small but visible wound on the crow's leg that bled every now and then.
In response, the Sun Crow let out another high-pitched screech and shot 3 balls of pure solar energy at the group out of anger. It didn't waste any time and attacked Michael. After seeing his attacks inflict actual damage, the crow focused on him.
It shot a ball of solar energy at Michael but to its surprise, Dean had already arrived in front of Michael to block the attack.
As Dean was blocking the attack, his face paled as he realized what the crow's motives were. "You guys! Watch out!" He yelled at the other 3. The crow heartily 'caw-ed' before flying towards the other 3, but it completely forgot about Tempy's fire spell.
Without paying attention, the crow flew straight into the fireball that was unleashed from Tempy. When the fireball hit the crow, it caused an unexpected amount of damage.
The fireball created a deep gash in the crow's injured leg as it released another high-pitched screech. Tempy was confused as to what had happened for the fireball to have such an effect on the crow.
"It was the curse weakening the inside of the crows leg." Liam responded.
"If it can't destroy the skin of the crow, then it'll go for the insides which apparently worked, although the result would be way worse if the crow was weak." Liam said in frustration while holding his hands together.
Blood leaked profusely from the wound on the crow's leg as it let out painful screeches that alerted the Moon Crow in the distance.
The Moon Crow became even more confused at what was happening and mustered up the last of its courage and sneakily made its way over to where the group was fighting the Sun Crow. It looked in surprise and shock at the condition of the Sun Crow.
'How did these little humans manage to do this?' It wondered more or less in its head.
