Chapter 3 - chaper 3

Tobias eyes narrowed as he walked into the fog fearlessly. This mission was full of surprises right from the beginning so he wasn't scared at all.

A faint whistle could be heard, it's tune became high as it spiraled along with the fog distracting the young man for you only a few seconds before his consciousness returned.

" Show yourself !" Tobias yelled as he could feel his patience grow thin. All he wanted was to kill the girl why was all these suddenly happening ?.

"You come to my house....." shock filled Tobias when he heard the voice of a woman. It wasn't sweet or seductive at all, rather it sounded very intimidating yet soft as the words seemed to float with the fog. But what do him more than the voice was that he could see no one through the fog filled corridor.

"Dressed like peasants and even try to kill my daughter ..." the voice trailed off again, a mocking laugh that resonated in the corridor filling Tobias with anger. "You make me laugh".

Who was this woman who dared to mock him ?. Never, had anybody mocked him for any reason because of his status yet this woman dared to call him a peasant ! She deserved to die !.

"Foolish woman, why don't you come and fight me" He asked through gritted teeth.

"Your right. I wasted too much time talking" the voice seemed to be nearer and as Tobias pulled out a dagger ready to stab the woman, to his surprise a sword pierced through his back.

"!!!"

"I know right, it's that easy. Anyway, see you in hell Baron Tobias" a lady emerged from the fog with crossed arms bearing a stoic expression as she walked passed him. He just continued to stare at her retreating figure in amazement. "Carolyn" her name was the last thing he whispered before turning lifeless.

Walking into the room Tobias had previously come out from, she glanced around to make sure she was the only one left before she sat on the bed.

"You can come out now Liore" a drastic change occurred in her voice as she called out her daughter's name.

Hearing her mother's tender voice, the girl under the bed quickly got out and rushed over to the lady sitting on the bed. "Mumma !!" the girl exclaimed hugging her mother tightly.

"Sorry I was a bit late darling " Carolyn smoothened out her daughter's silvery white locks of hair, a frown settled on her face as she had to do something she didn't want to.

"Darling, we can't stay here anymore." she broke the news " So I need you to pick all the things you want to keep forever".

"But I want to keep our house" tears began to fill the little girl's eyes bring a slight frown to her mother's face.

How worrisome. Don't make me feel guilty it's for your safety, Carolyn thought inwardly as she sighed.

The Next Day,

Carolyn along with Liore picked out their most precious belongings and boarded a carriage to the neighboring kingdom.

Carolyn glanced at her child who clung to her arm so dearly as she slept, a smile spread out on her face just thinking about the many adventures they would have and the many challenges they would come to face together.

Nearing their final destination, Liore had awoken and was amazed by the glimpses of the city ahead of them. Staring at Liore, Carolyn smiled once again as the child focused intently on the scenes outside the carriage.

Life will be good, Carolyn thought bearing faith and a smile.
