Their few years in the new kingdom was filled with attempted attacks and assassinations. Though the attempts failed, it left an impact on little Liore as she had seen a side of her mother she had never known.
The neighbors were kind to both mother and child and there wasn't a problem in sight. But Liore never saw it that way, to her it wasn't the life she deserved. She didn't want to live her life in hiding yet seeing the effort her mother exerted to give her a 'normal' life, it softened her heart towards the matter. She didn't care anymore, all she wanted was to make her mother happy.
"This way" Liore pulled her mother towards every stall in her sight, excited as she had only ever seen them from a far distance. Carolyn grimaced as her daughter pulled her about the market.
"Darling slow down" Liore pretended not to hear her, instead let go of Carolyn's arm so she could run off alone. Carolyn could only watch her daughter scamper about.
Liore let her adventurous side lead her far away from the market, into the woods. She wandered about the tall green barks of trees, and stones of different shapes until she was lost.
Standing there alone, surrounded by tall trees that didn't let her see the sky, chill wind blowing stray strands of her white hair away from her face,Liore didn't know what to do.
As far as she knew no one lived in the woods yet she heard the snap of a twig, far behind her. Swiftly, turned around to see two men staring at her with broad smiles on their faces. Instead of running away like any normal person would, Liore smiled and approached them showing no fear.
"Hello" Liore greeted them with her usual bright smile and a wave. She glanced briefly at the clothes the two men wore and nodded her head. 'Peasants' as her mother called them during her bed time stories. The people who would do anything for a single silver coin including kidnapping children.
"Hi little girl " one of the men bent down to meet her gaze " What are you doing here ? the woods isn't a salon you know".
"I seemed to have lost my way" Liore fought the urge to rip the smile of the man's face. While they had their little chit-chat, the other man just stared at the girl intently curiosity written all over his face.
"Follow us we'll give you a ride to town" the man said in a friendly tone.
"Okay" People like these had repeatedly tried to kill her for the past three years. And she would have to escape before they caused her any damage.
The two men engaged in a conversation with the bright little girl as the walked out of the forest. With a carriage coming into their view, the men walked slightly quicker than the girl, not noticing the wry smile on her face.
"Goodnight" they heard her sweet voice say but before they could react, she hit the weak points below their necks making the fall to the ground-- unconscious.
"Didn't your mother tell you not to trust strangers ?" Liore shook her head in disappointment as she talked to the bodies on the ground. Without giving a second look, she quickly ran in the clear path she had used to arrive at the woods hours ago.
