Synopsis
Many admired Athena. Stories of her glorious adventures and deeds as the goddess of wisdom. The daughter of the almighty god Zeus and the great titan Metis. Helping many heroes along the way. However there were some parts...some parts which were questionable. This was the story of one lone woman. A half-angel and a half-forest nymph. She was Athena’s best warrior, her aide, and most of all her best friend. Her story... One of the more unfortunate ones. Poseidon, king of the seas, fell in love with her at first sight. He was Athena’s lover at the time. However she was too loyal to Athena. He forced her to make love with him, inside of Athena’s temple. Outraged by what she saw, she cursed her! To the corner of the world, turned her into a monster, and... ...abandoned her. Killed by a hero sent by her own best friend she was sent to the deepest parts of hell. Tartarus. Tortured and forced to live in the hell hole she lost all hope. That was when a being, outside of their world more powerful than anything gave her a gift. It was called simply ‘System’. This was the story of her regaining her glory. This was the story of her path for vengeance. This was the story of her destroying the heavens in which the gods lazed upon. This was the story of Medusa. *************** I may have incorporated Greek names and such but it’s little different. Hope you enjoy.

Chapter 1 - Life in hell is bad...

Why?

I just wanted to ask why.

I was her best friend. My sister for all these years and eons. We were raised together, played together, fought together... we were inseparable.

All those years of sisterhood.

Gone.

For one man.

For a single man.

My eyes were blank, devoid of any emotion. Over the past eons, my golden eyes that showed my origins of the forest nymph were now black.

The angelic blood which SHE had given to me! So we could be recognized as blood sisters! It was all gone.

My lips trembled as a small laugh came out.

Was this how Pallas felt? When she died? Did she have a look of shock, too? When she was killed by her dearest sister's father.

They could have revived her. They could have. If Athena convinced them all to.

My eyes turned to the lone figure walking towards me.

"Say, Medusa. Are you ready to die for the 300,678th time?"

I glanced at Hyperion. He was the titan who was most obsessed in killing me. In retrospect, I found him more worse than Kampê, the worst monster in Tartarus.

There wasn't much to him. He was just a shiny, flaming scoundrel in moldy armor, driven insane in staying inside Tartarus for eons.

More longer than me.

Maybe it was due to my resemblance to Kampê, who guarded Tartarus so no monsters could escape. There were other monsters who were targeted for the same reason. Most that stayed here needed a way to cope.

Of course, I would say.

Athena changed me into a snake abomination to take on the wrath of all the other monsters. She was like that. Cruel to her enemies and even more cruel to her 'friends'.

If she had even considered me her 'friend'.

At this point I had memorized all of his moves. A titan's blood was far more superior than that of an Olympian's.

They held a more stronger bond to Chaos and thus were very hard to defeat. I could see why Zeus needed all the help he could get to defeat all the Titans.

I glanced at him and sent him a bloodthirsty smile. He could not turn into stone as his titan blood saved him from such a fate.

I did not have any more Olympian blood inside of me. All I had was my original blood of the forest nymph and the blood of mighty Basilisk.

The basilisk was a feared creature. It's petrifying gaze was the main cause. However in the end it was still too inferior.

However-

"I think your forgot that I have killed you 5,000 more times."

It did not get rid of the fact that I had superior intellect and was more superior in martial arts. To survive in such a realm a sword wasn't that useful.

I had abandoned the sword and instead honed my skill in hand-to-hand combat. When faced with monsters it had more use.

The sword could be broken, the sword could be burned, the sword could be stolen by the enemy and used against me.

And the sword could also abandon...

Thus using weapons was no go for me. It seemed after eons that bringing a weapon to slay me was for naught, however, Hyperion's pride remained.

I immediately turned that sword into stone and it turned into dust under Hyperion's firm grasp. He snarled and lunged at me ready to go for the kill.

I unsheathed by claws and sliced off his arms.

It was too simple. Too easy.

I had gone through this many times. Him using the same tactics. I had memorized every move of every monster in Tartarus.

His arms regrew like I had expected. I sneered when he roared in rage. However this time he would use his fire and blinding light.

I looked away from the light and ducked behind a rock to block his flames. The fire slowly chipped the rock away.

"Tsk. How annoying. Fight me like a man!"

I rolled my eyes as I willed for the roots of a tree to restrain him.

"Unfortunately for you I'm a woman."

Taking his sword I sliced off his head. His fires died out and left empty golden armor.

The ground swallowed it as I saw it move away from me. It wouldn't be long before he revived and ready to annoy me again.

I looked up. The darkness was endless. I wasn't sure if there was a ceiling. A few insects came out from the blisters that had formed in the ground.

I turned away and walked to my temporary home.

It was a forest. Some called it the Forest of Curses but for me...

It was a sanctuary.

They weren't close to the trees at the surface but they still were comforting. Even if they cursed her 24/7.

'Oh look it's Medusa.'

'Did Hyperion kick your ass again?'

'Your ugly as usual.'

'Those snakes of yours are disgusting.'

As usual I ignored them. It wasn't that insulting anyways. They could be berating me for getting cursed by Athena but I guess they knew that would be my last straw.

Last time I had destroyed a portion of the forest, after all.

Looking back at the dark sky I wondered if I was to stay my entire life here. Every century or so I lost my sanity. But I had always managed to regain some back and thus managed to keep going on in such a place.

There were other, much more horrifying monsters that could be eating me right now.

"Hey. You guys think I'll ever get out of here?"

The trees quivered and shook. I'm guessing it's from laughter.

'Puhahaha!'

'You really think you can escape.'

'Medusa, you may have lasted the longest with keeping up your sanity but everyone knows-'

I sighed.

"Yes, I know. Once you get thrown in Tartarus, your never coming out."

'Even if you had managed to escape, what makes you think Thanatos wouldn't come after you?'

'And if Thanatos can't get you, Athena would just find another hero to slay you.'

'You should just give up.'

Give up? Should I just give up? I know many monsters had already given up trying to escape. They had accepted their fates rather quickly.

"I-"

Suddenly everything became quiet. I quickly got up alert. When the forest went quiet it meant that something dangerous had entered.

I considered the forest my territory and any monster with wished to harm it would die.

However there was nothing there.

I looked at the insect like roots of one of the trees. It had stopped moving entirely. That was impossible. It's not like the trees could die in this type of place.

Unless...

Unless someone had stopped time. A feeling of apprehension appeared in my heart. The only one who could stop time was Kronos.

But what could he possibly want from me?
