Elizabeth: Alex! Why do you have a fox?!
Alex had a look of confusion on his face as he looked at the cat in his arms.
Alex: 'Huh? Wait, now that I look closely, this isn't a cat....it is a fox!
Asuka and David were looking at this interaction with pure shock on their face. They thought their son/nephew was smart but he couldn't tell the difference between a cat and a fox? They couldn't believe it.
Alex: Well, it's still cute...so can I have it?
Elizabeth looked at him with a wry smile as she didn't know what to think in this situation.
Elizabeth: Well, Alex. It's not a normal pet. You don't know what could happen when it gets older! It could become feral or whatever! It could attack you! I'm not gonna let you have it. I'm sorry but it's just a no.
Alex stood there with a face that was in deep concentration. They waited a bit to see what Alex would say but he just stood there. Even after 5 minutes had passed, he was still lost in thought. Asuka, Elizabeth, and David sat there with a concerned look on their faces.
Alex: Oh, I see. Hey dad?
David: Huh? Oh, yeah? What's up?
Alex: Can I have this fox as a pet?
Alex stood there with a small smile on his face as he looked at his dad for an answer.
David: Oh, sure. Why not?
Alex stood there with a huge grin as he turned to look at his mother.
Elizabeth: DAVID?! Did you not hear what I just said?!
David flinched when he heard her yell at him.
David: Well, yeah, I heard what you said, but it can't be that bad, right?
Alex: Yeah mom. It can't possibly be that bad. So just let me have it, yeah?
Elizabeth walked outside to go think about this a bit more and after a few minutes she came back in with a resolute look on her face.
Elizabeth: Fine. I'll let you have it, HOWEVER! If anything happens remotely bad, no matter how small, it's gone, got it?
Alex: But don't you think that's kinda unfair since it's sti-
Elizabeth: DO YOU UNDERSTAND?
Alex had never been so afraid of his mom as he is right now. He never knew she had such a...demon inside of her. He would make sure he listened to whatever she said since he doesn't want to experience this ever again.
Alex: Yes ma'am!
Asuka: Oh, uh. Well then. What's its name? Do you even know its gender?
David: Also, do you know what they eat? Do you know how to take care of it? It totally slipped my mind how important it is to prepare for a pet.
Alex: Uh...correct.
Elizabeth: ...
Alex: I'll go do some research right now! Oh, right. I checked on the way here. It's a boy.
Alex threw up a peace sign with a grin before he bolted upstairs to his room.
Elizabeth: *sigh* What are we gonna do with him?
Elizabeth sighed with a small smile on her face as she watched her son run upstairs to his room.
That night, Alex did not come downstairs.
Next morning
Alex: Good morning my amazing family!
Alex came downstairs in a brighter mood than usual. He had stayed up til midnight doing the research he needed to take care of his new pet fox. He was confident that he could do a really good job at taking care of him.
Elizabeth: Good morning? What's got you in high spirits?
Alex: I know I'm gonna take real good care of my new pet so I'm just excited! My very first pet. Hahhh, this is gonna be the best!
Elizabeth: Right, right. Well, did you find a name for him?
Alex: Yup! His name is Finn!
Elizabeth: Oh, what a beautiful name.
Elizabeth looked at her son with a warm smile. She hasn't seen him this happy since he first started training in both magic and the sword. She was glad that he finally found something else to put his time in.
Elizabeth: Well, I made breakfast, so go sit down and eat.
Alex: Okay.
1 Week Later
Alex has done a lot this past week. He's been taking care of Finn, playing with friends, and continues to train everyday. He's been tired lately but he doesn't care because he's been enjoying himself to the max.
Alex: Finn! Come on!
Finn is 8 months old. During Alex's research, he found out that fox pups leave their birthplace after 7 months and he found him a bit after that. While Alex is waiting by the door, he sees a Finn running down the stairs and bounces off his leg. Alex looks at Finn letting out a small chuckle. Finn has been pretty clumsy inside the house since he's not used to it, but when he's outside, it's like he's in his natural habitat. Well, it is.
Alex: Let's go, Finn! Onward! To the woods!
Elizabeth was walking out of the living room when she heard Alex say this. The look on her face transformed into shock.
Elizabeth: ALEX!
Alex: GAH! Mom, you scared me! What was that for?
Elizabeth: What do you mean "the woods"? Do you really think I'll let you go?
Alex looks at his mom. He chuckles while shaking his head.
Alex: Silly goose! The woods are nothing to me! I can protect myself. You know how strong I am, right?
Elizabeth: I told you this when you were younger so I'm not sure if you remember, but I said you can't just show off how strong you are! There are crazy people in this world and they won't waste a second to take you after seeing your strength!
Alex: Mom, it's fine! I won't leave this neighborhood til I'm 15, and by the time I'm that age, no one would be able to stop me. Please mom, just let me go!
Elizabeth sat there and thought about it. He had a point since he has mastered most of his abilities, so it's not like anyone could hurt him. At least in this neighborhood.
Elizabeth: Fine. But you better be careful!
Alex: Of course!
Alex runs out the door with Finn and closes it. But a couple seconds later, he comes back inside and runs to the backdoor.
Alex: I forgot the woods was behind the house. Sorry mom.
Alex runs out the backdoor with Finn while his mother looked on with worry on his face.
Elizabeth: 'Maybe I should've stuck with no...'
Alex and Finn run to the woods and enter without hesitation.
But little did Alex know, there was something hiding in that forest that was really dangerous.
