I know this chapter is way late and I'll explain in the author's note section..
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alex and Finn walk through the gates with a determined look on their faces. They felt something go through their bodies but they just assumed it was a protection gate for the safety of the students and staff. Today's the day they've been working towards their entire lives. They continue walking following the crowd towards another gate where a huge stage with a few adults were standing. When they walk through the second gate, they feel a small pressure on them like they put on an empty backpack. They shrug it off and keep walking until they see the other kids slowing down and falling to their knees. Alex thought something was actually wrong while Finn didn't really mind it.
Alex: Hey, are you alright?
Student: Ugh...my body feels...heavy...I can...barely move..
Alex: I see...so that's what it was.
Alex was thinking about it and then he remembered the pressure he felt when he first walked through the second gate. He figured it must have been some type of magic that was trying to pull them to the ground, although he couldn't really feel it that much.
Alex: Don't worry about it too much, you'll understand soon.
Alex walked away from the student with a smile.
Alex: 'This should be fun...'
Alex walked until he found Finn and stood next to him, waiting for the people on the stage to speak. After a few minutes, a middle-aged man with green hair and glasses walked onto stage.
Headmaster Aloff: Good morning, potential students. My name is Gringen Aloff. I am the Headmaster of this academy. Before we begin the exams, know that this academy is made for the elite of the elites. We don't accept slackers, we only accept those who are determined and hard working. I don't care if you're talented. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Remember this. I wish you luck.
After the headmaster finished his speech, he walked off the stage. Then another man walked towards the center of the stage while 2 people walked over holding both sides of the table with a clear crystal ball on top.
Professor Brendan: Hello everyone, I am Professor Brendan. Right now, you all will be taking a magic aptitude test. For this to work, all you have to do is place your hand on top of this device and it'll do the rest. Simple, right? Let's get started!
The Professor pulled out a thin stick that made a hologram appear with names on it. He then proceeded to call the names one by one for students to go up and check their aptitudes.
Professor Brendan: Omega Nutella.....Advanced in Water, Beginner in Earth. Double aptitude, wonderful. Christian Numero....Beginner in Earth and Wind....
Professor Brendan kept calling off names and Alex wasn't really paying much attention staring off into space until he heard a familiar name.
Professor Brendan: Ashley Scarlett...Advanced in Fire, Water, and Wind?! That's amazing! Next is...Ashton Scarlett...Advanced in Fire, Earth, and Wind?!? This is one in a billion talent! Or, two in a billion since there's two now. I hope you both worked hard because I'd love to teach talents like you to see what you can become!
Alex looked up in shock as he saw his two childhood friends. He hadn't seen them since he was nine and they never talked about coming to the academy. Ashley dark red hair was now flowing to the middle of her back with her bright red eyes shining with brilliance and determination. Ashton's red hair had gone to the end of his neck and his eyes showed his aloofness and that made Alex kind of annoyed since he had become a real pretty boy. Alex made sure to remember to talk to the twins after the exams. After a bit, Alex finally heard his name.
Professor Brendan: Alexander Gregory.
Alex walked on stage with an almost invisible smile on his face. He looked towards the crowd and saw the twins looking at him wide eyed. When he noticed them, his face stretched into a smirk. He was ready to blow their minds.
Alex stepped in front of the table and put his hand on the crystal and it started glowing. The Professor looked at it with his eyes almost bulging out of his eye sockets. He tried to say everything out loud without absolutely losing his mind.
Professor Brendan: Advanced in...Water, Wind, Earth, Fire, Lightning, Light, Dark, and...what is this? Nevermind that, you're a prodigy! A genius! I don't know what else to say!!
Alex walked off the stage with a normal smile on his face like he didn't just shock everyone in that area. Even Finn was shocked since he didn't know Alex had such a good affinity to all those elements.
Professor Brendan: Uhm...uh...sorry. Finn Gregory. 'Maybe he's also a prodigy....'
Finn walked up and put his hand on the crystal and it glowed so bright it shattered.
Professor Brendan: No way...is this the legendary Holy Flame?!?! I can't believe it...
Finn didn't really mind what he said and just walked off the stage. After that, no one else gave much of a shock other than four more people getting two affinities. There were only about 200 kids left after the weight magic took them out after the second gate.
Next was the physical part of the exam. There was a man with a bald head and beard standing in the center of a field with a broadsword on his shoulder.
Instructor Grink: Hello kids. I'm Instructor Grink. I'll be looking over your physical exam. Let's start. Anyone can come when they're ready. One at a time of course.
Kids took their turns fighting the instructor with all of them losing. The longest lasted for 2 minutes after the instructor started trying a bit more. Then came Ashley. She had a black ninjato sword with a red flame pattern down the blade.
Ashley started the fight launching forward and swinging her blade down towards the instructor. He simply side stepped until he saw the blade coming to his cheek. He quickly ducked and lost his footing and got kicked right in the face as he went down. He took a few step backs with a drip of blood coming out from his nose. He then took the initiative to attack and swung his sword to her hip. Ashley took a short step back avoiding the blade and stepped in as quickly as she could with her sword pointing right at his throat. The instructor took a step back but Ashley put her foot right behind his making trip and fall. She then pointed the tip of her sword at his neck.
Ashley: I win.
Instructor Grink: Well I'll be...Nice job, you completely through me off. But remember to never let your guard down.
Ashley was confused by what he meant until she looked down to see his sword pointed right to her stomach, ready to go through her if she took another step forward. Ashley let out a soft sigh before backing away and bowing.
Ashley: Thank you for your teachings.
Ashley walked towards the side with the other students with Ashton taking her place on the field. When he walked past her, he muttered a couple of words after patting her shoulder.
Ashton: Nice job.
Ashton got to the center of the field and looked at the instructor in the eyes.
Ashton: I'm gonna beat you.
Instructor Grink: Oh?
