Natalie and Cairo standing in the street. He calls her name and she turns around to look at him, soaked. She tells not to come near her. He looks like he feels bad about something. Of course, we don't know exactly what, but it's probably not the incident at Grandpa's memorial service. He asks if she's okay. She blinks and it's obvious that she's not. She shakes her head and tells him not to come near her. He says her name again. Tears are forming in her eyes as she says that it's all because of him. That definitely makes him feel bad. He softly says that he's really sorry. He steps forward again and she takes a step back, repeating that she told him to leave. He asks her why she's like this. She's crying as she tells him to go. She begs him to go.
[ Words that I Can Only Say to You ]
[ One Day Before the Typhoon Invasion ]
Natalie and Rocco are still asleep at Bon Café. Kelvin is unlocking the doors, the noise from which wakes Rocco. I can tell it's Kelvin because of his shoes. He looks over at the sleeping Natalie and smiles. Another lock disengages and Rocco realizes that someone is coming in. He tries to wake Natalie, but she's out. Rocco hides as Kelvin comes down the stairs.
Natalie groans and Kelvin hears. He discovers her sleeping. Of course, he's going to think that she's there because of him, because that's how his brain works. When he realizes that the person under the blanket is Natalie he leans in closer, at which point Natalie wakes up and starts thrashing about violently because she wasn't expecting to see Kelvin. He starts yelling because he's yelling. Kelvin asks her why she's there. She wonders why she's there, too, until she sees the hiding Rocco, who motions for her to keep quiet. Kelvin doesn't notice.
Kelvin slides into the seat next to her and takes her hand. He tells her that he was so worried. She wants to know why – since he's the jerk who dumped her and who she's told many times she doesn't want to have anything to do with. He says gently that it's because he knows what Cairo's mom is like. He pats her hand and says that she should just tell him everything. After all, she waited all night to see him, right?
Natalie tells Kelvin to let go of her hand, which he does, only to pull her into a huge hug. As Kelvin strokes her hair, saying that everything is okay, because she's come back to him, Natalie gestures frantically at Rocco to help her. Rocco, however, creeps off since he can get away. She looks pleading at Rocco, but he leaves. Kelvin says that he will protect her, as she chokes on his shoulder.
K.MOM and Mom arrive. They see the embrace, although only Natalie sees them arriving. Frantically, she shoves Kelvin off of her, causing him to flop to the floor and bang his elbow. K.MOM immediately calls Natalie the crazy stalker. Natalie is mortified. Mom clarifies that the girl who stalked Kelvin is... K.MOM finishes the sentence: This brat, er, this girl. K.MOM starts yelling at Natalie, asking what she's trying to do to Kelvin now.
Kelvin goes to stand by Natalie and declares that it's nothing like that. It's a misunderstanding. K.MOM asks how it can be a misunderstanding. Natalie is the stalker for sure. It was just a few days ago that she made the police come out after she caused a ruckus while holding a beer bottle. Mom asks if it was an incident that happened pretty recently? K.MOM declares that it's only been 2-3 weeks since the stalker case at the courthouse. Mom smiles slightly; she understands.
Kelvin declares that he was the one who did wrong that time. He shouldn't have treated Natalie like that back then. K.MOM pulls out her phone and declares that she I shouldn't just be standing there. She needs to call the police. Kelvin grabs K.MOM's phone and declares that he loves Natalie. Natalie looks at him like he's crazy. Mom can't believe it. K.MOM can't believe it either, but for not the same reason.
K.MOM protests, asking how Kelvin could forget what Natalie did to him! Kelvin replies that no, he couldn't forget. The feelings that Natalie gave to him, and the scar that he gave to her, he won't forget it until he dies. So, it's even harder. K.MOM is practically speechless. She asks Natalie what she's done to Kelvin. Natalie isn't paying attention to K.MOM. She's just looking at Mom, who is looking at Natalie with an expression that says, "how dare you lie?"
Kelvin wiggles his body like a three-year-old throwing a fit and declares that K.MOM is only making things more difficult. K.MOM yells back that he's embarrassing her! A smiling Mom turns to K.MOM and declares that she shouldn't say that. Love is nothing to be embarrassed about. The most embarrassing thing is lying. Isn't that right, Natalie? Natalie meekly apologizes.
Cairo chimes in from the doorway and asks what she did that was wrong? He walks into the restaurant and bow deeply to K.MOM. He apologizes to her. He says that the person who made things harder for Kelvin is him. His heart was stolen by Natalie. Mom tells Cairo to stop playing around. Cairo declares that he's being serious. He says that he's sorry, but he's getting married to Natalie. Surprised looks from Natalie, Kelvin and Rocco. Mom chuckles because he's still at it. But Cairo's just looking, apologetically, sincerely at Natalie.
K.MOM wants to know what Cairo is saying. Is that true? Natalie declares that she can tell them the truth. Mom says she wants to go. She feels embarrassed. Cairo starts to point out how Mom said that love isn't something to be embarrassed of, but Mom doesn't react and keeps going up the steps. Cairo heads after Mom and Natalie, after apologizing again, hurries after Cairo. K.MOM wants to know what is going on. Kelvin declares that it's how she saw it. Her son is about to have his woman stolen by his friend.
Cairo, Natalie and Mom go to Cairo's office. Which is smart since it's right upstairs. Mom dismisses Natalie with a "you, over there." Cairo wants to know how Mom can talk to Natalie like that. Like she's a peon. Mom declares that they have no reason to see Natalie anymore; the play is over. Cairo acts like he has no idea what Mom is talking about. Mom sums it up: "Let's escape the pressure to get married by putting this ridiculous woman in front." That's what he was trying to do. Cairo says that Mom misunderstood. Mom replies that she was mistaken at first. She thought that Natalie was a girl Cairo was dating, so Mom even invited Natalie to the house. She wanted to find out about Natalie… Natalie was Kelvin's stalker.
Natalie meekly apologizes. Cairo says that it's a scar for Natalie so Mom shouldn't bother it and make Natalie hurt even more. Cairo repeats what he's said: If it isn't Natalie, he won't get married. Natalie looks at Cairo, shocked. Mom can't believe it either. It's his friend's girl... no, his friend's stalker. Cairo wants to marry her? Natalie's had about enough of Mom caller her a stalker. She starts to speak up and Cairo adds an "I know." He says that he's even surprised at himself. He supposes that this is what's called love.
Natalie looks at Cairo like he's crazy and asks if he's kidding. Cairo's having a stare down with Mom. Mom tells him to stop kidding around! During Grandpa's memorial, Natalie made the whole house a mess. Is this what the Gong's third generation only son should be doing? Natalie chimes in that that's what she's saying! Cairo replies, still not taking his eyes off Mom, that the Gong's third generation only son should be a bachelor forever, then. Mom blinks at him, not responding. Cairo declares that if she's are against their marriage, then he's going to live alone for his entire life. Natalie says Cairo's name, telling him to be reasonable.
Mom asks Cairo if he's really going to keep doing this. Natalie tries to say something but both Mom and Cairo tells her to stay out of it. Cairo looks back at Mom and tells her to admit it. It's not that Mom doesn't believe him, Mom just hates Natalie. Mom declares that if she gets substantial evidence that it's a lie, Cairo has to marry a girl that Mom chooses. Cairo gives an eyebrow raise that he understands. Mom pushes in between them and leaves the office, with Natalie giving her custMomry deep bow.
As soon as Mom is gone, Cairo grabs his heart, breathing a big sigh of relief. Natalie immediately starts slapping him, hard, demanding to know what he's doing. Why is he still forcing something when they've already been caught?! He motions at her to keep her voice down and tells her that if he gets caught doing this, he has to marry a girl Mom chooses. Natalie whines that they already decided to finish this last night. How far is he planning on going? Cairo replies that he won't stop until he gets the right to live by himself for the rest of his life.
Natalie asks what he's saying. Cairo strolls over to his desk and says that last night, he declared it in front of his entire family, that if they oppose Natalie, he's going to live alone for his entire life. Cairo turns and intently looks at Natalie as he declares that her role is more important than anything else. Create more and more drama. Natalie sighs as she asks why he's doing this to her. Cairo doesn't answer that question but asks her why she got caught today. Why was she at Bon Café? She's not specific. Cairo notices that Natalie's in the same clothes as yesterday.
Kelvin is still talking with K.MOM. He protests that Natalie asked for his help, so K.MOM should let him help! And more of the five-year-old tantrum whining and wiggling. Kelvin tells K.MOM that she's different from Cairo's Mom. K.MOM always listens to what he has to say. K.MOM agrees with that (that she's always listened). She says that she's never nagged him about how he plays around, because a man needs to do that in order to know woman and to find the right match. And I roll my eyes. I hate that double standard. It's just plain ridiculous. But Kelvin played around too much. K.MOM asks Kelvin why he doesn't like normal women. Because he's bored?
Kelvin protests that Natalie is a good girl. He asks K.MOM if she's going to be happy when Cairo steals his girl. K.MOM looks like she's just fine with that. Kelvin scoffs and says that whenever Cairo's mother buys a handbag, K.MOM has to go and buy the same one right away! K.MOM protests that spurious accusation! K.MOM declares that she is not amused and stomps out of Bon Café. Kelvin throws a major snit fit that would make any spoiled five-year-old proud.
Natalie and Cairo are riding in his car. He can't believe that she was with Rocco. All night. And because Cairo's not jealous at all… He asks her if she, by any chance, did it? She's shocked at the question. He repeats it: Did she do it or not? She sputters that she drank alcohol and then passed out right away! He clarifies that he's asking if she told Rocco about their relationship. Sure that was your question… Natalie says that she probably didn't. She may have though...
Cairo pulls over. It's a cell phone store. He gets her a smart phone. She looks at it and wonders why she would accept it. Cairo tells her that from now on, whenever and wherever she goes, she has to tell him. Now, that's not controlling. It has a 24-hour tracking device. It'll be useful, so she can use it for whatever she wants. Natalie sighs and says that she doesn't even know what he's saying or why he has to do this. He can't believe she doesn't get it. Their relationship can never be found out! They can't go back now. Natalie tells him that that's *his* situation.
Natalie tries to leave the store but Cairo does a wrist grab and slaps the phone into her hand. He tells her that he'll give her everything she needs. He asks her what else she needs. Money? How much should he give her? Natalie thinks for a moment and then takes both his hands in hers. She wants him to sincerely tell her that he's sorry that her phone broke because of him." He's 'confused.' She says that if you're sorry, you're supposed to say that you're sorry. He shouldn't try to smooth things over with money. She sticks the phone back into his hand and starts to leave. Cairo calls after Natalie, asking if she's going to be fine not calling Rocco? A girl and a guy were together all night, but one side can't be reached. Will she be okay with that? She takes the phone.
On her break from work, Natalie looks at a text from Rocco. He apologizes for earlier. It was uncomfortable because of him, right? And it's killing me because the graphic of Rocco is bobbing his head back and forth as she types her reply, like he's waiting for it. Heh. Natalie asks if he's okay. He didn't get caught by Kelvin, did he? Rocco replies that thanks to her, he wasn't caught, and because he's so thankful, he wants to buy her something delicious. When's a good time? She starts to reply that she'll come after she gets off from work.
Suddenly, the Rocco graphic is shoved out of the way by a Cairo graphic. Cairo's text demands that they meet after work. She makes a face and texts Cairo that she's making plans right now. Cairo immediately knows who the plans are with, and texts back that she shouldn't meet with Rocco for a while. She replies that she doesn't want to (obey him). He can't believe she's really not going to cooperate? She replies that she's not. Cairo verbally sighs and says that he has something to threaten her with. She wonders what that is. Way to have a healthy relationship… You don't do what I want, I'll blackmail you. I guess he did learn it from his Mom.
Cairo is at work. Mom is his patient. The nurse tells her that her procedure will start in 30 minutes. Nurse is slathering some cream on her face. Mom asks whether the cream will help with the pain. Cairo smoothly tells her that it won't hurt at all, so not to worry. She'll end up pretty like a celebrity. Mom giggles and says that the young kids these days keep talking about fillers so she was curious about what that was. Thank to her son-in-law Gong she gets to get one finally. She hopes that she's not being too much of a burden. Cairo smarms that how could it be a burden between family? It's really nothing. Calling her "Mother-in-law" for emphasis.
Later, Mom is looking at herself in the mirror. The phone rings. It's Dad. He asks what she's doing. She says that she's getting the life that got wrinkled because she met the wrong husband smoothed out by her son-in-law. She wants to know what he wants. He responds that she talks such pretty words. This is why he doesn't want to talk to her. He demands that she hurry up and get to the Chicken Shack. It's busy. Mom tells him that whenever he opens his mouth, he nags. She doesn't want to talk to him anymore. She hangs up on him and goes back to admiring herself in the mirror.
Natalie is at a café, frustrated over Mom. Cairo sits with 2 ice cream cones. She declares that she's not eating it. He tells her that she can just hold it. She moans but takes the cone. Cairo leans in to take a selfie. She wants to know what he's doing. He tells her to just stay still. He snaps a few. She's not smiling, but looking at him. He smacks her in the face with his ice cream and then takes a picture, wearing a smile as she's mad. She asks him *what* he's doing. He says he's getting proof that they're lovers. He posts the pick to his SNS feed. She's annoyed but then she really shoves her cone in his face. This makes her and me laugh. Cairo takes advantage of the moment to get one where they're both laughing.
Next is drinking orange juice out of the same glass with two different straws. It's hysterical to see how annoyed she looks and how down to business he is when the camera isn't watching. He buys her a rose. They smile. He posts. While his back is turned, she takes a sniff of the rose with a smile. He turns around in time to see it. Movie theater. Sharing a soda. Hooray! They didn't use a flash. Nice phone commercial, btw, showing just how cool Cairo's phone is. They end up enjoying the movie and laughing together.
Move to a bar with tall, fruity drinks. Cheers! They pose with the drinks. Cairo laughs when he looks at the picture but Natalie doesn't like it. She looks weird. She wants him to retake it. He says it turned out well. She doesn't agree. He's smiling as he tells her that she normally looks like that. She protests that she does not usually look like that. She's not that bad. He says that she is and tells her to come to his office sometime. She tells him to take it again. He rolls his eyes, but he takes another one, which she likes. They laugh over their pictures. Hmmm... How compatible they are...
Rocco is at work, cleaning, checking out the SNS feed. He's not wearing his normal smile. He remembers how Natalie declares that she found herself being sincere. He wonders what in the world that girl is thinking?
Cairo is dropping Natalie off at home when she gets a text from Rocco. He says that he'll be waiting for her at the same spot as yesterday. Cairo tries to read it, but Natalie hides it and then he pretends he wasn't really interested in what it said. She tells him that he can leave now. He replies that he will after he sees her go in. She tells him that he can stop acting like her lover. There's no one around. He gets out of the car and opens her door for her. She climbs out and they look at each other. Cairo tells her to go inside. She waves and tells him to go.
As she starts for her door, Natalie turns around and comes back to where Cairo is still standing. She tells him thanks for the flower. She turns to go inside and that look that Cairo gets on his face when he looks at her happens, when he's struck by the goodness of her heart. He smiles slightly. He calls after her that it's late. She shouldn't go anywhere and just go to sleep.
Natalie puts the rose in a vase. She sits and looks at it and smiles. Then she remembers what Rocco texted her. She hurries to change her clothes. She also pulls out a face mask. Rocco doesn't recognize her at first when she arrives at the restaurant. But as soon as she starts walking so goofily, it's really obvious who it is. He's laughing. He asks her if she's a robber. She smiles and says that if someone saw, things might turn into a big mess again. Does he want to go to another place other than Bon Café? He says that he was in the middle of doing something. He needs to clean up after himself. Natalie has no problem with that.
Cairo is at home in bed. He's looking at the pictures from earlier today. He laughs at the ice cream one and then remembers he's not supposed to be laughing. He clears his throat. Then he checks the tracking app he's installed on Natalie's phone. She's at Bon Café. Cairo's not happy. He sits up in bed, furious. He huffs and mutters under his breath about this girl.
Rocco is in the middle of cooking. Natalie declares that it smells wonderful! Rocco tells her that it's not for eating. He's going to throw it away. She can't believe that. He's wiping up the counter top. Without looking up, she tells her that she can't be hungry, anyways, because of all the delicious things she ate with Cairo Bro. Not jealous at all. Uncomfortably, she asks if he saw the pictures. He replies, not looking at her, that he was looking at his cell phone, waiting for someone's phone call, to the point where his eyes were about to fall out, and then he ended up seeing it. She apologizes. She's about to explain when the phone rings.
It's Cairo. He demands to know where she is. She says she's at home. Cairo says that he already knows that she's with Rocco. Her face says that she's shocked he knows. He tells her to get out of there right now. She tells him that this is an invasion of privacy. Cairo tells her not to trust Han Rocco! It's dangerous– She hangs up on him. Which does not make Cairo happy.
Natalie looks at Rocco and smiles awkwardly. Not that he didn't just hear your entire conversation. He asks if she bought a new cell phone. She starts to explain about Cairo buying it when Rocco declares that the pair must be in a relationship for Cairo to buy her an expensive phone. Are they meeting because of money? She asks him what he takes her for. She doesn't appreciate any of this stuff.
Natalie mutters that the cell phone that she used for over 6 years dropped into the dishwater. Rocco can't believe she used the same phone for 6 years! Natalie replies that she can't throw things away easily. She sighs over the feeling she got from her phone when she opened and closed it. She liked the feeling of pressing down on the buttons with her fingers.
Rocco asks her why she likes Cairo Bro then. She said it wasn't money. Is there something else besides money? She can hear Cairo tell her not to trust Han Rocco, that bastard. Instead of answering she asks why he keeps asking questions? Especially about her and Cairo's relationship! Why is he so interested? Rocco answers that he just wanted to know. Can he not do that? She responds by asking what kind of person he is. Shouldn't she know more about him, too? Smiling widely, Rocco says that being mysterious is my concept.
Rocco grabs the food and goes to throw it out. Natalie protests. He says that he just made it for fun, since it was going to expire. She demands he give her the pot. She samples it and tells him that the taste is killer. He tells her that she's going to get sick. She ignores him and eats some more of it. And I'm amazed that she's not burning herself right now since that pot was just sitting on the stove and she's holding it by the base with her bare hands. He smiles in appreciation of her and then stops smiling as he watches her smiling. But watching her enjoy it, it makes him smile again. And that expression reminds of the kind that guys get when they're falling in love. The girl doesn't even notice when he's in awe of her. It's that kind of look.
Natalie tells Rocco that she thinks she kind of knows now. Like her, he can't abandon things easily, right? And he feels bad for doing it. He asks her what she's saying, but again his face says that she's seen through his façade and found the real him. He tells her that the food was made to be thrown away. She looks at him and says that isn't it because he thinks he'll be abandoned, so he's abandoning it first? No smile from Rocco as he asks what she's talking about. Natalie says that for her, she hates being abandoned and feels scared, too. She says that they both can't abandon things easily so she thought maybe it's for the same reason. His voice low, he says, "What do you know?"
Natalie says that it just seems that way, after she gets a taste of it. Rocco leans in close and tells her to let him have a taste, too. He goes in for a kiss and then another.
Cairo is furious. He's left his house in his pyjamas. He rants, "Just wait until I catch them!" She has been there for a while. He stops and looks down at his feet. He's wearing two different shoes, both for the right foot. He sighs and asks what he's doing. Catching a wife who's cheating? He laughs at himself. It starts to rain.
[ 20 Hours Before the Typhoon Invasion ]
Natalie and Rocco are still kissing. He takes the pot out of her hands and puts in on another counter, so that they can wrap their arms around each other as they kiss.
The next day, Aunt and Grandma are doing yoga. Dad returns home. Grandma comments on how Dad couldn't even come home overnight, since he was working so hard on his research. How hard it must have been on him. Yeah, whatever. We both know where he was, especially since his back isn't sore. Mom is ironing. He drops off his laundry that he was carrying in a department store sack and says that he has to go out right after. She knows. He asks Mom if there's going to be a problem. How did Natalie find out, anyway? Mom puts his change of clothes in the sack. Are they actually separated? Is he living with Mistress?
Dad declares that he was super careful. Dad wonders if Cairo told Natalie. Mom doesn't respond. Dad says that he's worried about the house. He doesn't think Natalie's a bad person, but they should be wary because she's not prudent or careful. She's like a bomb that could go off at any time. Still no response from Mom. Not that he deserves a response.
Natalie is at work. She's banging her head against the wall as she tells herself that she's crazy. Zoe asks what's the matter. Natalie looks at Zoe, a little crazy-eyed, and declares that she supposes that she's crazy. Then she laughs like a crazy person. Zoe asks if she's okay. Now serious, Natalie declares that she's okay. Then she breaks into a happy dance as she declares that she's not okay. What to do? Zoe smiles and says that something good must have happened to her. Natalie nods vigorously.
Zoe is shocked. She kissed Rocco? What about Cairo? Natalie's stomach churns. Zoe says that she thought Natalie was going to get married, but now she doesn't even want to think about it? What about Kelvin Oppa? More stomach churning. Natalie moans that her stomach is a little... It's that food she chowed down on that Rocco was going to throw out. Zoe looks at Natalie and asks if Natalie feels bad even when she mentions Kelvin Oppa's name? Natalie looks positively nauseous. She rushes off for the bathroom. Zoe sighs and wonders what will happen to their Kelvin Oppa? And she smiles wickedly as she thinks about it.
On her way to the bathroom, Natalie runs into Mom, who wants to talk. Natalie tries to hurry off to the bathroom. Mom steps into her path. She declares that will only be for a short moment. Another stomach gurgle. They are now sitting, side by side. Natalie is trying not to squirm with her discomfort. Mom declares that Natalie must be uncomfortable with this situation as well. Mom wants to know what Natalie is taking on the main actress for this unbelievable show? Even if Cairo has obvious plans. Did Cairo pay her?
Natalie doesn't really answer, simply asks, "Huh?" Mom asks if she asked something too definite. Natalie chuckles and mutters that if she knew this was going to happen, she would have taken a lot of money. Cairo, that bastard... She corrects herself and apologizes. She says that getting involved with Cairo is very tiring physically and emotionally. Mom pulls out a recorder and tells Natalie that it's okay. Natalie just needs to tell her the amount and Mom will give her more, regardless of how much it was that she received. Natalie looks at the recorder. I'm wearing the same face, like I can't believe Mom is going there. Mom says Natalie should just tell her that Natalie's relationship with Cairo was all a lie. She just needs to say that.
Natalie laughs with disbelief, at the irony. She declares that when they first met, she was sort of jealous. Here was such an elegant mother and calm father, so different from her parents. She thought that the nice, peaceful families she saw in dramas actually existed. But the more she got to know of them, she learned that the dramas are the crazy ones. Mom can't believe Natalie's brashness. Natalie declares that they are mother and son. It's something they can solve by having a conversation. What she's doing is just not right... Mom tells her to shut up.
Natalie apologizes if she hurt Mom's feelings. It's been a long time since her family has stopped talking to each other. Natalie says that she felt bad for Mom. Mom is insulted. How dare she? Mom moves in her seat again and Natalie puts up her arms to block Mom's slap. Mom laughs with disbelief. Then she looks up and sees Mistress walking with shopping bags. She immediately goes and hides out of sight.
Mistress is talking to Dad on the phone, calling him Oppa. She says that she spent a lot of money at the department store today. Is he going to punish her? A pause and then she tells Oppa that it's his fault that this happened. Natalie stops cringing and discovers Mom hiding behind a purse. She looks and sees Mistress, who says that she bought it all for Oppa. She understands what's going on.
Natalie tells Mom that she can come out now. Mom sighs and tries to regain her dignity. Natalie asks why Mom hid. Mom says that she was picking up something she dropped. Natalie asks – what all of us are thinking – Shouldn't the one who needs to hide be Mistress rather than Mom? Mom didn't see who Natalie's talking about. Mom walks away and Natalie sighs, feeling bad for her.
Mom exits the department store and can barely hold it together. She adjusts her shoulders and gathers up her coat and walks on.
