Ashley shook her head. She simply sighed and said, "I noticed how hungry you were. Isn't there any food at the Carter residence?"
"Maybe at the Carter residence, but not with Gideon around," said Freya nonchalantly.
"You must tell his father, Charles Carter. Otherwise, he will just keep bullying you."
Freya smiled. "It's useless. The two of us live outside alone. Uncle Charles can't keep saving me. Moreover, I have already troubled him so much as it is."
Ashley felt powerless. "Fine. If you encounter any problems, you have to tell me. If you really have to, you can eat at my place."
Freya could not help laughing. She raised her head and looked at the woman sitting across from her and said, "This problem won't last forever."
The moment she finished her sentence, a familiar silhouette entered the restaurant from the entrance.
To be precise, it was two people entering the restaurant. One of them was Gideon Carter, the man who refused to let her eat. Also, there was a woman with him.
A waiter went up to them and escorted them to their table warmly. After Gideon sat down, Freya could see him laughing as he chatted with the woman.
She was forced to marry Gideon, so she never dreamed he would treat her well.
His gentleness towards other women was a stark contrast to his cruelty towards her. Freya could not help feeling a twinge inside just thinking about it.
Just as she was about to veer her eyes away, Gideon suddenly looked over. Freya was startled and hurriedly averted her eyes. "Ashley, let's go."
Freya glanced from the corner of her eye. She could see Gideon had not moved and was still looking towards them.
However, they were in the path towards the entrance.
Freya had intended on walking past them quietly but she automatically halted when she heard the man calling her. "Freya Keller, are you following me?"
She did not turn back and simply inhaled deeply before she answered, "No, I didn't follow you."
The moment she finished her sentence, she wanted to leave, but the man held her by her wrist.
Gideon had stood up. Freya could hear his threatening tone by her ear. "Don't ever let me catch you doing this again."
Freya wrested her hand free. "Since your girlfriend is still waiting for you, don't let me get in your way."
The man narrowed his eyes. He seemed to find the word "girlfriend" inconceivable before he quickly said to Freya, "Get lost!"
Now that Gideon was no longer in their way, Freya wanted to leave the restaurant with Ashley in tow.
Ashley wrested her hand free from her gentle grasp and walked up in front of Gideon and said deeply, "Mr. Carter, does this woman here know about your relationship with Freya?"
It seemed as though Gideon did not hear a single word and did not react whatsoever.
Despite the courteous smile on Ashley's face, her voice came out cold. "You shouldn't bully Freya. It is your good fortune to marry her. You might not like her, but you still have to feed her. If people find out Mr. Carter is abusing his newlywed wife, the Carters will be a laughing stock in Ocean City."
The man frowned and asked angrily, "Who are you?"
"I am her best…"
Freya pulled her aside mid-sentence.
Once they were out of the restaurant, they got into Ashley's car. Freya glanced at the silhouette in the restaurant and turned to look at Ashley. "Why did you tell him so much? If he gets angry with me, he might take it out on your family. Do you want to get implicated?"
"Is he that petty? Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Freya was speechless.
Inside the restaurant, the woman sitting across from Gideon looked at his angry face before she said cautiously, "Gideon, who were those women?"
