Ashley was caught by surprise when she heard Freya's request. After gathering her thoughts, she said, "Why didn't you tell me earlier if you needed money? Of course, I will lend it to you. Just give me a number and I'll transfer it now."
Freya looked at her with gratitude.
Ashley went quiet.
"Since you need money, Gideon must be really bad to you, right?"
"That's not true. He helped me pay for Granny's old folks' home expenses, but I don't want to owe him, so I want to return him the money."
Ashley instantly understood what she meant. They had been friends for years, so she knew Freya's concerns well.
She quickly took a card from her purse. "Is $5000 enough for the fees?"
"It's too much."
"You can save the money for later."
Freya stopped turning down her offer and accepted the money.
After lunch, Ashley took Freya out to the opera.
