Abigail's dark, bright eyes widened in disbelief. She could hardly believe that the elegant man in front of her had said such a thing.
After a long pause, she managed to squeeze out, "How inappropriate."
To prevent others from hearing, she deliberately lowered her voice.
Brandon Piers looked at her chubby pink cheeks and almost laughed. He placed his large hand under the table, holding her other hand, and lightly scratched her palm. Looking at the pile of crab meat and shrimp Abigail had just peeled, he said, "Be good. You eat the rest."
Abigail felt a tingling sensation all over her body, her ears turning pink. Terrified that others would notice their secret, she kept her head down and quietly ate.
Halfway through the meal, Lena Locke finally managed to appease the elder. She looked up and saw Abigail's pink cheeks. "Abigail, are you very hot?"
Abigail jerked her hand out of Brandon's grasp and pretended to touch her face. "Do... do I?"
