Rose Taylor withdrew her probing gaze and asked worriedly, "Honey, did Abigail make things difficult for you?"
"She said it wasn't her."
"But..."
"Enough. I'll figure out the hospital situation. She's now Master Brandon's fiancée. You and Ruby should avoid provoking her." Lincoln Green didn't reprimand Rose Taylor, but his words still felt heavy to her.
Suppressing her discontent, Rose said, "I know. The Stones have come to our door."
"The Stones?" Lincoln Green frowned.
"Yeah." Rose Taylor responded lightly, her face expressionless though her mood was terrible. This Piers' engagement banquet had not only humiliated her and Ruby but made the Stones the biggest losers.
