Abigail wondered why Brandon Piers had returned to the old house.
As she was thinking, the door to the nursery was pushed open, and she looked up to see the man in the wheelchair.
Abigail subconsciously glanced at the shirt she had just changed out of.
Brandon followed her gaze. Seeing that the jacket had been taken off, his mood improved somewhat. But when his eyes landed on her neck, they darkened. "What's going on here?"
Abigail was puzzled. "What do you mean, what's going on?"
Following Brandon's gaze, she lowered her head and realized that two buttons on her shirt were undone, exposing the spot where Ruby Green had burned her.
"It's nothing." Abigail wasn't very concerned. It was just a red burn.
"A burn?" Brandon didn't think it was nothing. The small chubby woman was very fair, with a rare delicate whiteness. Now that it was red, it looked like a birthmark, quite frightening.
