My first time ever cooking was boiling some eggs that almost lead me to blowing up the whole house, up in flames. Now you must be wondering how this had happened to me.
Well I've never turned on a gas stove before till that day, where i had no idea how does it light up in flames on low settings. That day after 10-15 attempts trying to light up the stove top it went out at one point (when i wasn't aware), so the stove was just releasing a whole load of flammable gas throughout the house and i was watching a movie in another room.
By the time my movie ended and i had exited the room, i smelled gas everywhere and it was at that moment i knew i had f up. I had completely forgot that i was boiling eggs so i ran to the kitchen turn off the gas stove and opened all the windows.
After making sure the gases are going outside, i grab my tongs to pick up 1 of the eggs to put it into cold water to cool it down (at that time i thought it was hot), i crack it open only to realise it was completely raw.
After what had happened, only 2 months later did i attempt at boiling eggs again but this time with an induction (electric) stove without having to worry about combustible gas. I set up an egg timer for 10 minutes and it was my first successful boiled eggs despite the fact i work as a pastry chef.
I know what your thinking a pastry chef that can't boil an egg is disgraceful but i've only ever cooked with an induction stove that was my first time using a gas stove.
