Chapter 23 - Not Your Regular Tomboy

"Morning Min-chul!"

"Morning!"

"Hi Min-chul!"

Ever since I got in the swimming team, my already popular status exploded into the stratosphere, almost reaching mesosphere. It's too much, even for me.

Everyday, the moment I walk into a room, people greet me. Teachers included.

In the cafeteria? People let me cut line! Like I'm some sort of gangster!

Some of the older kids in grade 5 and grade 6 have also heard of me, one of the fastest swimmers in the primary school varsity at only 7 years of age.

So, in short, my current school life is perfect! Everyone likes me, I'm popular; what could go wrong.

Returning home after a long day of school, I throw myself onto the couch and start watching some game show.

Honestly, I'm surprised at how trusting mom is of me to return home safely by myself considering her personality but I guess it's in my favor so I won't complain.

Well, there was one time where this lady tried coaxing me into this black van but some random strangers who looked awfully familiar stopped her; they all had some weird glow in their eyes, as if they were expecting something from being saved by them.

Such kind strangers. I'm sure they were expecting the great feeling of saving someone.

Looking around the house, I remember that Jung shouldn't return yet since he is dismissed at about 2:30 pm while I left school at 1:30 p.m.

Today is Wednesday and the only days we don't have swimming practice are Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. On swimming days, we usually go home at maybe 3:00 p.m after swimming.

Mom and dad aren't home and right now, I have the privilege and duty to protect this house! I remember in my previous life, I once armed up the house with traps just like in Home Alone and uhhhh...

Let us just say my parents may or may not have slipped on the marbles and dad may or may not have injured his back when he fell...ehehe, never again.

Mom hasn't ever been that mad so I decided I shouldn't try it now that I know the consequences of that marble trap I set up.

And plus, dad's injury was one of the reasons he had to overworking himself; he couldn't get as much work done. Before, he could finish an 8 hours worth of work in maybe 6 or 7 hours but after the injury, he spent more time massaging his back and stretching.

An 8 hour work day turned into 9, 9 hours turned into 10 and 10 hours proved too long for him. There were other reasons for him taking longer in work such as age but I never got over the marble trap.

What if I didn't set it up? Well, dad maybe might not have died from stress.

[idiot. You didn't even set it up now]

'Yes! That's the beauty with a second chance!'

[it is]

I take out some chips and lie down on the couch.

I finish the chips just in time for the show to end and while throwing it away, I hear the doorbell ringing. Huuuuuhhh!!!!!

.....robbers?

I slide the curtain of the window nearest to the door out of the way and fortunately, it isn't robbers.

Well, unless these robbers are a duo of a hot woman in an apron and a handkerchief tied to her forehead, giving her a housewife vibe and a tanned little girl with hot pants, a tank top and heart-shaped sunglasses; they aren't robbers. They look the exact opposite of robbers.

Turning my attention to the little girl outside, I get reminded of some painful memories from a certain girl in my past life...a tomboy, is my first thought. This is girl is a definite tomboy and I should be reluctant to befriend her.

Maybe Jung will play with her.

I start thinking about it more and well, this isn't too bad and even if they are robbers...I'll allow them rob something else I own. Mwuahahahaha! Put it there Feelie!

[no, I will not "put it there", Min-chul. Please lower your fist]

'Awwwww...'

[and aren't you the person going on and on about this Mi-young person?]

'Mi-young! Yes, of course I love her but she isn't even here and we aren't dating yet. Can't a man dream, Feelie?'

[ughh, whatever]

Maybe it's because I'm a child and maybe it's because how I was raised by mom to love all noonas but I feel like I prefer uhhh, "bigger" women now. Whatever, Mi-young is Mi-young.

I hype myself up in case these baddies turn out to be baddies...ahahaha put it there again! I'm on a roll!

[haaahhh...just, no]

'Awwww'

Anyways, I hype myself up in case these baddies turn out to be baddies. Despite their appearance, it may be some sort of new robber trend I'm not aware of.

I answer the door and as I open it, I see the mother drift her gaze down at me and she gives a massive smile. The tomboy on the other hand is a bit confused by her mother but still gives a smile my way.

'Huh, so not robbers?'

"U-u-u-uhhh...who are you?"

[what the hell is with that stutter? Are you trying to act like a shota]

'Ye- I mean no! I'm nervous in front of adults!'

Despite my bickering with Feelie, as a professional child who has been one for almost 8 years, my mindset has slowly been getting used to being treated as a child.

I guess it's a psychological thing.

"Ara ara little boy~~~~~. Why are you alone in this house???"

'Oh no, this isn't good Feelie!'

[huh? Why?]

'There are 5 tildes! That's the immediate sign that my shota powers worked instantaneously!'

[ughhh...]

As Feelie ignores me, the mother looks at me with wide eyes and a gentle smile. Please don't do this, you look too gorgeous and beautiful for my little body to handle.

"Ummm...my parents will come home later. Who are you?"

Asking the question that's been on my mind from the get go, they look at me and remember they haven't introduced themselves yet.

What the hell? How do you not remember to introduce yourselves to someone you visited just to introduce yourself? Are you two perhaps dory fishes? Short term memory loss?

Ugghhhh, this reminds me too much of that one girl from my past life. The little gargoyle gives me nightmares.

"Oh! Sorry little one, I just forget now. I'm...uhhhh"

'No way...she forgot her name? This is making my head hurt. Perhaps these two are mermaids in disguise? Or maybe harpies'

"Ahh! I remember now! I'm your new neighbor, Bong-cha! This is my daughter; go on, introduce yourself"

As she edges her little tomboy closer to me, I reflexively take a step back. The tomboy notices this and takes another step and as before, I take another step.

Before even introducing herself, she start taking little steps forwards, making me back up more. She looks into my eyes and starts taking in deep breaths. W-what the hell does this mean?

"Haaahhhhh..."

*TUK TUK TUK TUK*

'AHHHHHH!!! WHAT THE HELL!?!? Why the hell is she chasing me!!! Help me, noona! Older noona!'

Out of nowhere, she started running towards me like some sort of zombie or maybe a police officer chasing a criminal. As an upstanding citizen, when someone chases me, I instinctively start running.

Add to the fact that the one chasing me is a hot pants wearing, heart-shaped sunglasses having, tanned skinned little tomboy, who wouldn't run.

Well, perhaps maybe some perverts out there would gladly lie down and let her run OVER them but that's another story entirely.

Currently, as I'm tiring myself out while running around the house, I can't help but realize how fast I've gotten. Even with just a bit above half speed of a regular human, I feel so light.

My legs are limber and spry, my knees are bendy and beautiful, my thighs are extremely muscular and my foot loose.

Kick off my Sunday shoes.

Please, Louise.

Please can you stop chasin' me?

After about 5 more minutes of her chasing me around my house, me running and just barely dodging her, her mother watching us with caring eyes and both of us panting, she stops her game.

Seeing her relax only makes me relax; big mistake.

She pounces like a damn cat onto my body, knocking me onto the floor. Thank God there was a carpet where I could fall onto.

She sits right on my hips and quickly grabs my hands by the wrists and stretches then out as far as she can. Damn it! This isn't no regular tomboy!

This is an experienced tomboy of maybe 5 or more years!

I underestimated her!

This is the fabled manga tomboy! This tomboy usually shows up as the main character's childhood friend and later on in high school, where the manga starts, it's a romcom!

Phewww....thank God I'm not her best friend. We don't even know each other.

[...she's on top of you and she was chasing you around YOUR house for a while. You sure you aren't already friends]

'.....NOOOOO!!!'

Realizing the predicament I'm in, I stop struggling and stare into this little gremlin's eyes. Staring back, her tan skin goes a little flush before she loosens her grip.

"Uhhhhh...hi! I'm Ji-woo! Park Ji-woo!"
