Chapter 59 - You Are Yourselves

The atmosphere then immediately turned cold. Everyone nervously looked at Shemer's face.

"Pfft!" It was my turn to laugh. "Hahaha! It's okay, brothers and sisters. Shemer was just joking." I said.

"Wow! I almost peed my pants again, little Evangeline." Anael said while wiping the sweat on his forehead.

"I was not joking, though," Shemer answered.

I just ignored him and continued talking.

"Shemer, what is the solution that can help us remove the demonic energy inside brother Anael?

"The demonic energy inside his body has a minimal effect on him. But fortunately, we found it because if he had ingested more it can be damage to his mana core."

Everyone was worriedly looking at Anael.

"Huh- I am very thankful for coming here today! I was supposed to explore the market." Anael exclaimed.

"Well, back to the topic. Sire, can I ask why Anael has the most potential in all of us?" Olek asked.

"Huh, you're curious about that?" He looked at everyone with a smug on his face.

Shemer then opened his space and pulled a device and put it on the table.

"Oh-kay? Can I ask what is that?" Lexus inquired.

I looked at the device that Shemer put on the table. It was a staff measuring 199 centimeters (78 inches) of extraordinary hornbeam from the base of this stunning staff.

Most of the staff has been polished and smoothened. Cloth ribbons with runes have been attached just below the handle, which has been wrapped in reptilian leather.

The bottom ends in a curved blade shape made of crystal and has been decorated with many smaller gems that glisten in the light, making it seem like they hold magical properties.

The top is made out of wicked crystal and has been crafted into a smooth oval, which has been decorated with a smooth layer of paint, giving the edges a glowing appearance.

In the center of the staff has lines that have different crystals on each level.

"Shemer, is that a staff?" I asked.

"Yes. The device that the empire invented is not up to par with my expectations. This device is more accurate to measure anyone's talent. I am not supposed to use this besides you master." He explained reluctantly.

"Thank you so much for helping Shemer," I said.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Put your hand on the staff." He said and glared at Anael.

As Anael put his hands on the staff, it began to glow and Shemer slowly explained how it works.

"This staff was invented by the elves and was given to me as a gift. This is the device they used to measure once talent in the Elven race. It is far more accurate than the empires. It has seven levels and the more the light goes up the higher his potential."

I looked at Anael, who was holding the staff. The staff was on the third level and the light was still slowly going up.

"Is this the reason why you said that Anael has the most potential among them?"

"Yes. I could sense that he has great mana, but it seems that he is a slacker when it comes to training among them."

"Well, it seems as if everyone is challenged by your announcement. Hahaha!"

I said as I saw everyone's faces as they wait for Anael's result.

"Done," Anael said loudly.

The light stop at the fifth line. I looked at Shemer, waiting for his next instructions to them.

"Okay. Now everyone has to take turns in measuring their potential."

The next one to try was my cousins and my brothers. Alexio, Aleksandro, and Skylur were at the fourth line. While Iskender is on the third line and Wymund on the second.

Well, it is a surprise that Wymund is already on the second line since he is not yet practicing how to control his mana. Sanyi and the three other boys were all on the fourth line while the girls were on the third.

"Now that you guys saw your potential, I think it's time for you not to believe other people who are praising you as geniuses. Let me tell you that this is just the starting line.

Do not depend that your ancestors are powerful and that you can inherit their powers. They are different and you are yourself."

Wow! I did not expect Shemer to give them advice. I am right that Shemer is a tsundere! Hahaha.

Aside from that, I think he cares about everyone.

"Thank you so much for keeping us on the line, sire. I think today's events are a real eye-opener to everyone. We promised that we will try our best not to disgrace our ancestors and also let everyone know us ourselves and not by our families name." Sanyi said while bowing to Shemer.

"I am glad you understand my sentiments. Now you come here." He motioned Anael to move forward.

"S-sire." Anael was still scared of Shemer. Hahaha.

"I will get rid of the demon energy inside your body and you will a little uncomfortable. But don't worry. It will be just like a kick of a horse. Hahaha!"

"Shemer, stop teasing him," I warned.

"Understood, master."

Shemer puts his hands on Anael's back and pushes it gently. Then a black shadow emerges from his body. Anael then started sweating and blood started sipping from his lips.
