Chapter 61 - Howie, The Adventurer

Howie Folkvar is an adventurer. As he was born and raised in the empire, he grew up listening to the stories of the adventurers he encountered when he was a young boy.

He's sensitive, mysterious, curious, and perhaps a little too immature. But there's more than meets the eye. As he grew up, he started to dream that he will be a well-known adventurer.

He was born into an ordinary family in a small village located in the southern part of the empire. He entered the school for adventurers at the age of 8 years old, as he was discovered by the principal because of his talents.

He became more important and was becoming quite desirable. By never giving up, he is discovering hidden secrets in a crazy world.

But with his charm and brilliance, there's nothing to stop him from going beyond expectations. He could quickly become somebody we can expect great things from.

Now he was the senior adventurer at the Adventurer's Guild. He just came back from an escort mission and was shocked when he heard about the diseases that have been spreading in the empire.

He also heard that some adventurers may have been infected by the diseases. As he entered the guild, he was overwhelmed by the atmosphere. He directly reported to the guild master.

"Master Mahfuz, what happened? I just came back from my escorting mission?" He immediately asks.

"Howie, I am glad you came back without any injuries this time." He patted Howie's back.

"How many adventurers have been infected? Why does the atmosphere around the guild look so solemn?"

"Because the disease is not only infecting the adventurers but also the children and it is more critical to them. The Health Department has already given medicine to us to distribute to the adventurers."

"Is that so? Do we have any recorded deaths?"

"As for now, there is still no record. As the Health department has been alerted about the disease early on."

"Thank the gods then. So what was the instruction for us?"

"The emperor has given me a letter about that." Mahfuz then handed a letter to Howie for him to read.

"Is it okay for me to read this?" He asked.

"Of course, the emperor already knows that you will be the one to succeed after I retire." Mahfuz laughs softly.

"Did you already inform the emperor? You still have 2 years before you retire."

Howie was astounded when he learned that the emperor already knew about him as the next guild master of the Adventurer's Guild.

"Did your teacher did not inform you about his previous job description before he became an instructor in the Adventurers school?"

"He only told me that he was a former soldier in the army. Is my teacher someone important in the army?"

"Hahaha! You just have to ask him himself if you saw each other."

"What's with mystery guild master? Can't you tell me?" Howie looks lost after he heard what the guild master said.

"No. I don't want to spoil your teacher's fun. Plus, he hates anyone that spoils his fun. You have discovered it yourself. Now I have to excuse myself, as I will attend a meeting with the other guild masters in the palace. As we will discuss our plan on how to handle the disease without causing any panic to the people."

"I understand what you mean guild master. Teacher wants me to discover it myself without the help of others. Maybe I can send him a message later."

Howie said while scratching his head with resignation at his teacher's childish behavior.

"Hahaha! Okay! See you later Howie." Mahfuz then waved goodbye to Howie and step into the teleportation channel.

Howie then stands up while shaking his head. He then proceeded to go outside and went to the receptionist.

"Dina. Is there any mission for me?" Howie asks.

"Howie, you're back. How was your escort mission?"

"Well, it was a peaceful one. Thank the gods that we did not encounter any powerful beasts this time."

"Let me search if we have any mission available for you."

Dina then dives through her pile of documents. As she continues to search, a pile of letters slowly builds up in front of Howie.

"I'm sorry for the mess, Howie. Because of the disease, we have a shortage of adventurers because some are still on the mission and the others have been infected by the disease."

"Well, it happens. We just have to be ready and help the people."

"Finally," Dina pulled a letter that was written on a special paper and handed it to Howie.

"Here it is Howie. It was delivered here this morning. The person who delivered it said it was for you."

"Thank you so much, Dina."

He then opened the letter and was very astounded by its contents. He immediately put it in his pocket and hurriedly ran outside the Adventurer's Guild.

"Dina, if the guild master comes back, tell him that I have a special mission to accomplish."

"Got it. You better be careful, Howie!" Dina replied while waving her hands.

After giving his instructions, Aleksio and the others immediately go to their own ways. While Iskender and Wymund escorted me back to my room.

"Little Evie, you have to take a rest since you just recovered. Wymund and I will find mother and tell her about the gathering." Iskender said as I enter my room.

"Understood brother." I smiled cutely.

As I close the door, I searched for Shemer and called him,

"Shemer, are your preparations ready?"

"Yes, master." He said.

"Okay, let's go."
