Lowe and Selena had transformed back into their human form and headed back to the base.
When they arrived Tim called Lowe away on business. This left Selena alone. Selena returned back to the house and cleaned her wound. For the first time Selena felt relieved to be left alone as this gave her time to contemplate what had happened.
She stared into the bathroom mirror at the crescent shaped scar the bite had left on her neck. She ran her fingers gently across the mark. Her mind was racing as she tried to process what had occurred in the forest. She felt as if this had happened to somebody else.
"Our scar" squealed the voice in her head which Selena had decided to name Damira. Damira means secret, she felt that this was the perfect name for the voice that only she could hear.
Selena wondered how she would explain this scar to Blade. Would he know about the werewolves mating rituals enough to know what this was. Was it true that if she separated from Lowe that they would both be in pain. Lowe had previously explained to her that once the bond had been formed there was no way to break it, without death.
She had only parted from Lowe for a few moments and she already felt lonely. She had this strong desire to be close to him since he had sunk his teeth into her.
She got cleaned up and finished obsessing over what had happened. Once she was dressed, she decided to have a walk around the base to try and find her necklace before turning in for the night.
She was wandering around the camp until she bumped into the pack.
"Hi!" she said as she waved in their direction. She walked towards them.
Silence. For some reason, all eyes were on her.
"Why are they looking at me strangely?" she wondered.
"Good evening Luna," Jimmy laughed as she approached them.
"Luna?" She questioned.
Suddenly she realised they were all staring at her neck. Her cheeks flushed. Selena realised that she had completely forgotten to cover up the fresh scar. She quickly pulled her hair, draping it in front of her shoulders in the hope that it would hide the mark. However, it was too late they had already caught her.
She smiled awkwardly not sure how to respond.
"Sit down, Luna," Mona said as she pointed towards the spare space to the left of her. Selena slowly sat down.
It was past midnight and the pack all sat around a fire. Light emanated from the hot glowing flames, lighting everyone's faces.
Lowe had previously introduced Selena to the members but she felt most comfortable with Jimmy and Mona as they were both very loud and always joking around.
Jimmy sat to the right of Mona. He was grinning from ear to ear at Selena.
Sat opposite Selena were the twins. Jaka and Smoke, they both were new to the pack and did not speak much. They simply observed and whispered to themselves. Jaka smiled over at Selena, in her way of communicating.
The pack spent the first 10 minutes of the interaction making jokes at Selena's expense by addressing her as Luna and pointing out the scar. However, eventually the awkwardness passed and Selena was able to relax about the situation. She felt at ease with the pack, as if they were her family.
Selena noticed that, save for Jimmy, the pack had been addressing her much more formally than they usually would.
After a few hours had passed, Lowe and Tim walked over.
Tim sat down to join in the festivities.
"We should go to bed," Lowe stated to Selena. His bluntness made everyone giggle but he paid no attention to the others.
Selena nodded as Damira purred quietly inside her head.
They started to walk to the house together.
"I need to go somewhere tomorrow and I cannot take you with me," he said.
"He's only going for the day, why am I so upset?" she wondered to Damira. She tried to hide her disappointment but Lowe had caught this. Lowe's large hands grasped hers as their fingers entwined. Selena shyly smiled at his warm touch.
They walked hand in hand back home.
Selena lay in bed whilst Lowe was getting dressed. She peeked as Lowe undressed. He looked over at the bed where she lay. She tried to avert her gaze. He had caught her, again. She hid under the blanket and pretended to be asleep.
Lowe climbed into the bed. He carefully ran his hands up her legs, across her thighs. Purposely avoiding between her legs. His fingers trailed along her stomach. He stopped and kissed her stomach. It felt warm. This sent shivers down her spine. She let out a soft moan. Selena started to run her hands through his thick hair. He smiled at her reaction.
He was now lying next to her. He stared into her eyes. Selena lay there panting in anticipation.
His right hand gently put her hair behind her ears. He stroked her cheeks as he did this.
His lips drew closer to hers. Selena closed her eyes, waiting for them to come crashing down on hers.
Lowe kissed her forehead. His lips lingered for a few seconds.
"Goodnight" he sweetly whispered as he pulled her into his arms.
Selena lay there dumbfounded.
"Why do I always appear to lose when I am with him?" she wondered to herself as the both drifted off to sleep.
In the morning, Lowe set off leaving her all alone.
Selena's day was uneventful. She searched around the forest to try to find her necklace but still nothing. She found that time went much slower without him there. Hours felt like days as she counted down until his return.
