The sun had set and yet Lowe was still nowhere to be seen.
Selena paced up and down the living room wearing thin the wooden floors beneath her feet.
She waited.
Selena clenched her jaw and crossed her arm.
Still no sign of him.
She felt a wave of anger wash over her.
"Where is he?!" she wondered.
Another hour passed, and still was still waiting.
Her ears pricked. She heard footsteps making their way towards the cottage.
She rushed over to the wooden door and grabbed the cold metal handle. She swung the door open in excitement.
Tim stood there dumbfounded. His eyes swiftly darted to his shoes. He made a sound which was inaudible. "Selena" he stuttered.
Her stomach turned.
Selena glanced at Tim again. She noticed that his clothes were ripped and he had a bandage wrapped around his left calf.
"Where is Lowe?" she asked.
Silence.
"What happened?" Selena began to panic.
"We were ambushed," Tim explained.
"Where is Lowe?!" she demanded an answer this time.
"He was taken".
A single tear fell from her right eye.
"What do they want?" she asked.
"You" Tim nervously replied.
"Me!" She asked in shock "what do they want with me?"
"They were looking for the vampire Queen. They somehow found out that you are here."
Selena felt guilty. It was her fault that Lowe was in danger. If only she had stayed in the castle, none of this would have happened.
"If they are after me, then I will go to them".
"You cannot go, it is too dangerous. Lowe would want you to stay safe". Tim said.
"I will go," she said. "He is in danger because of me".
"I cannot let you go. You are our Luna and I must protect you".
Selena nodded in agreement.
Selena asked Tim a few further questions before he went to update the pack. Selena had promised that she would not go after Lowe. However, she had no intention of keeping that promise.
She decided to wait until everybody else was asleep and then she would sneak out.
She went back into the cabin and packed a bag to take with her.
A few hours passed and everything was silent. The only noises came from the rain dropping on the leaves and the wind whistling between the branches of the trees.
This was the perfect opportunity for her to make her escape.
The sun had begun to rise and the forest was covered in an orange glow from the sun which subtly pierced through the leaves. Luckily the leaves provided Selena with enough protection from the sun, otherwise her skin may be burnt from the rays.
Selena took with her a small bag with a change of clothes and some water. She was not sure how far away Lowe was being kept.
Selena slowly crept further and further away from the cottage. She kept an eye out for any movement. She could not be caught trying to leave.
Once she reached a safe distance from the base, she started to run. The grass squelched as she ran as it was wet from the rainfall. Her clothes clung onto her soaking body.
She shivered.
She picked up the pace to try keep herself warm.
She had been running for over an hour when she picked up a scent. The scent was definitely a wolf. It smelt as if there could be several of them.
She had never ventured this far into the forest before. She wondered whose territory she was in now.
She heard a noise.
She hesitated before hiding behind a large oak tree.
Selena decided it would be safest to change into her wolf form. Her body started to transform. White silky fur started to grow from her skin as her limbs twisted and bent into the wolf form. This transformation was no longer painful for Selena, as she had practiced several times with Lowe.
When she had finished transforming, she slung the bag around her neck and slowly took off closer to the smell. The clothes she wore were now ripped and were tattered on the floor.
As she drew closer, she could smell three different wolf scents. She wondered whether they would be able to smell that she was a vampire whilst she was in her wolf form.
She prayed that they did not find out her identity before she could find where Lowe was being kept.
She heard an unfamiliar voice through the trees.
She slowly headed towards the voice.
"We should head back now" demanded the largest of the three werewolves. He had a thick grey coat of fur. The others followed quietly behind him.
Just as the three wolves started to leave, the grey wolf stopped. He turned.
"Who is there!" he questioned.
She hesitated.
The grey wolf started to slowly head towards her direction.
Selena tried to make herself smaller in order to hide. She tucked her tail between her legs and lay on the cold wet muddy ground. She shuddered.
"Come out. I know something is there"
She gulped.
"What do I do now?" she wondered.
She had been caught.
