Lowe threw Selena over his right shoulder. Selena tried to free herself but she was unable to. He carried her out of the small room. He left his cottage and started to walk through the trees.
A few minutes later they arrived outside a small wooden house.
He knocked on the door.
The door opened and there stood a beautifully tanned young woman. She had luxuriously thick black locks which fell to her shoulders. Her name was Mona.
"Shoes" he said as he placed Selena down on the doorstep of Mona's home.
This young woman did not question Lowe. She followed the order and left to get shoes.
When she returned she had a few pairs of trainers in different sizes.
Lowe knelt down in front of Selena and started placing shoes next to her feet. Mona stood silent, watching their interactions. He eventually found a pair which appeared to be a similar size and slipped her tiny feet into the shoes.
"Fit?" he asked.
Selena nodded as she fiddled with her necklace. Lowe then began to tie the shoelaces tightly.
Mona's mouth was wide open.
"They are a little big but they will do it," he stated as he finished tying the shoelaces.
Lowe then stood tall and looked into Selena's eyes. "Let's hunt," he said.
Without warning, Lowe started to run in the opposite direction. It took a moment for Selena to realise what Lowe had said but once the word hunt reached her she smiled then began to run.
She was starving and needed to find something to feed on. She had felt weak since she had woken up.
They both ran deeper into the dark woods.
Selena quickly overtook Lowe.
Lowe ran faster but he still struggled to keep up her speed.
"Werewolves are no match for my speed," she internally laughed.
After a few moments she had to stop to let him catch up.
Selena had reverted to her primal instincts. Each of her senses had been heightened as she scouted her prey.
She first spotted a large deer. After she caught the deer, she sank her teeth into its neck. She drained sweetness from its body, quenching her thirst. Her pupils widened as the blood coursed through her.
Lowe silently watched.
They stopped by a lake so that Selena could wash the blood from lips. She took off the trainers Lowe had tightly fastened and placed her cold feet in the colder water. She lay on the grass with her feet dangling into the lake. It felt refreshing.
Lowe did not say anything but instead lay down next to her. He closed his eyes.
The moon light reflected off the motionless water. Selena watched Lowe's striking reflection in the water.
She turned to face him to admire the full length of his powerful physique. Her heart raced. Her mind began to roam.
"Enjoying the view" he smirked. That smirk.
She nervously looked away. She wished she could come back with a witty retort but in that moment she was unable to collect her thoughts. She stopped herself from exploring his body any further. She cleaned her mind as she turned away.
She instead wondered whether this man was dangerous or could she trust him. He did not appear dangerous but looks can also be deceiving.
"Does he have a family?" she wondered. She brushed away these thoughts. She was a married woman after all.
She could never be with him.
They lay there. Selena listened to the sound of his breathing and the rustling of the trees. She felt at peace. Neither of them felt the need to say anything, as if there was an unspoken language between their bodies.
After some time, once again, she drifted off to sleep.
Lowe silently lifted her up in his arms and carried her home.
She suddenly woke up.
She was lying on the sofa of this familiar living room. A blanket had been laid over her whilst she slept. "Luckily I am small", she thought to herself.
Her body began to suddenly ache. Selena tried to stand up but fell swiftly back on the sofa. She reached for her necklace to calm her anxiety, however, it had disappeared. She looked down. Fear overcame her.
She started to sift through the couch cushions. Nothing. She threw the cushions from the sofa pushing it across the room against the wall. Still nothing.
She was now in a frenzy, as she desperately searched. A few moments had passed but she had still not found her mother's necklace.
She was overcome with a powerful feeling of anger. Unlike usually, she was unable to control her feelings.
She started to destroy everything in sight. Selena tore pages from the books before she threw them from the book shelf to the floor. She had been exploring the room for a minute and still she had not found it.
Selena stopped. She was suddenly hit with a strange aroma. It filled her nostrils until stopping her dead in her tracks. She was calm. The aroma was sweet and filled her with warmth. It had thrown out the feelings of grief and anger and had somehow subdued her.
"Where is the smell coming from?" a strange voice in her head wondered. This voice was not her usual internal monologue but a voice of a stranger. Selena panicked
"What exactly had that man done to her whilst she slept" she wondered.
