Dazaree closed her eyes and concentrated. When the two men were about to attack Kithe, her hands moved on their own, aiming in the direction of the battle.
She was at a loss for what to do, and it was the adrenaline rush that told her to aim for the enemies and release the overwhelming energy she was carrying. The burning sensation caused her to scream at the top of her lungs, and in an instant, the energy from her body was spewed out of her hands, swirling like a tornado, and striking the two men directly.
Their bodies collided with two large trees behind them, breaking their necks and backbones. Kithe barely avoided the attack because it was too large, but Jack was hit by it and lost his balance as a result.
Kithe knew it hit him when he felt strange pain inside him, but he used the opportunity to attack Jake, who was caught off guard, with his ice sword. He wasted no time and slashed Jake's stomach, causing Dazaree to turn away.
She closed her eyes, even though she had already seen it, hoping to get it out of her head, but the scene remained. Dazaree was so stunned that she couldn't move.
She heard him mercilessly stab Jake twice which made her close her eyes even tighter. It's brutal but Kithe doesn't have any choice but to make sure that he's dead.
Leaving Jack alive will cost many lives so he must end him now. He also made sure that their other two comrades are dead.
After checking the bodies, he looked at Dazaree who's sitting on the ground, trying her best not to cry.
"I told you to use the handkerchief," he spoke as the ice sword melt from his hands and drip on the ground. Dazaree looked at him and saw his blue eyes once again. For some reason, It's so calm and soothing now for Dazaree. She feels safe.
But as she stares at his eyes, she couldn't help but feel sad. She imagined that deep within those calm eyes, there are terrible memories that made him ruthless.
She couldn't see any remorse in his eyes like it's a normal event.
"We have to leave here," he said and abruptly pulled her up. Kithe knew that sooner or later, their body will self-destruct. They must go to a safe place before they explode.
"H-huh?"
Kithe did not allow her to speak and carried her in a bridal manner. He doesn't want her to stymie their progress. She wanted to complain, but Kithe was too intent on fleeing. She didn't have much of a choice but to cling to him because she didn't want to fall.
They hadn't gotten very far when they heard an explosion near where they were.
"W-what happened there," in fear, she queried.
"They self-destruct," he answered casually then put her down gently.
"T-thank y-yo--"
"What exactly are you doing here?" He didn't let her finish her sentence and spoke solemnly. He removed his jacket, causing her to become distracted by the large wound in his arm. Jake was the one who injured him when he was caught off guard.
"I'm lost," she admitted softly, looking down. Dazaree couldn't bear looking at him any longer because he was too intimidating.
She couldn't deny how beautiful and tall this man is, which is probably why she couldn't look him in the eyes. It's her first time seeing a man like him. Strong, gorgeous, and has a good built.
Perhaps, she has read too many novels, she reasoned to herself.
Dazaree wanted to approach him and assist him in keeping his wounds from bleeding, but she was afraid he would become angry, so she stayed back and watched him. Kithe gave her a glance before returning his attention to what he was doing. He tossed his jacket to her, and she grabbed it right away. Because his arm is bleeding, she can't help but feel sorry for him.
Kithe, on the other hand, can't help but feel uneasy with the look she's giving him. He does not enjoy being pitied. He grabbed his injured arm, and slowly, water formed where the wound was, causing his wound to heal from the outside. It's as if he's simply closing the wound from the outside to avoid losing a lot of blood. Aside from that, his healing technique was ineffective. He is still in pain on the inside.
Dazaree, on the other hand, was taken aback and amazed. She couldn't believe he could do such a thing. She stared at his arm for a few seconds before feeling compelled to inquire.
"How did you do that? Also, earlier you--"
"What?" he sounded as if he couldn't believe what she just asked. "You're asking me that?"
"Yes. How did you do all that?" she said curiously.
He chuckled and looked straight at my eyes. "How did YOU do that." He repeated what she asked, emphasizing the word 'you'. He was talking about what she did earlier and didn't even bother answering her question.
"I don't know!" she answered honestly. He raised an eyebrow and then nodded as if he truly understands.
"I see. That's the reason why you almost killed me." He said calmly and took his jacket back.
"Ehh? I did?" Dazaree asked in surprise.
He knitted his eyebrows and answered, "Yes. I'm lucky I know how to dodge."
She felt her cheeks turned red because of embarrassment. She didn't realized that because she still couldn't control her power. She just had an urge to do it because of fear.
"It seems like you can't control your power yet." He casually said and then he covered his mouth with his palm and coughed. Dazaree's eyes widened when she saw bloodstains on his palm. He looked at her and wiped it as if it was nothing.
"D-did I do that?" stuttering, she asked. She couldn't help but gulped twice when she understands what he's trying to say. "I'm sorry!"
She felt so stupid that she hit the person who saved her.
"I was able to dodge your critical attack from the outside but not inside." He said nonchalantly while wearing his jacket. She doesn't understand what he meant but that blood means she hurt him a lot.
"I'm really so--"
"You won't be able to survive here if you don't leave." He said this as he turned away from her.
"Are you leaving already?" she inquired as he began to walk away, but he did not respond and continued walking.
Kithe's eyes twitched when he felt pain in his stomach again but he didn't stop leaving.
"P-lease! Don't leave me alone here!" Dazaree pleads and tried to catch up with him but his steps were too big which left her no choice but to run in order to keep up.
He doesn't want to bring her because it will be too dangerous. She will just be a hindrance to him.
"I have no business with you." He said without batting an eye and started walking even faster.
"Wait! Kithe!" She yelped while gasping for breath. He suddenly stopped and looked at her with his mysterious eyes with his forehead furrowed.
"Y-your name is Kithe r-right?" she asked nervously without looking at his eyes. "I don't know how to get out of this forest at all. Please... don't leave me alone here." she pleaded once again.
Dazaree really doesn't know how to get out of this forest and she can't go back to her aunt and uncle's house after what happened. She's sure they won't accept her back because of what she did. Kithe is her only hope.
"You can't come with me." He said ignoring what she said.
"But why?"
He looked at the place where the explosion happened and faced her. "You see those men? They are all from an organization including me who's hunting people like you. Someone with special abilities. I have to go back and make up a story about their death. I can't bring you there so find your way home alone." he said without showing any emotions.
"But why did you help me then?" she asked causing Kithe to stop and looked at her.
"It's none of your business," he replied and turned his back again.
"But I don't know where to go. Maybe someone like them will come again."
"It's none of my business," he said nonchalantly and walk faster.
She was about to just let him go when Kithe suddenly loses his consciousness and fell to the ground.
