__________ POV Ashton__________
After spending some more time with Pitou she entered the Void Space once more and I restarted my journey.
The Mole had left after we had finished the food. But it kept returning whenever I made something else.
It's quite sad that I couldn't feed it anything, but the beast seemed to just want to smell the food. Which I guess provided some satisfaction for it.
Now, I have spent a lot of time in this cave already. So I took off with speed, not wanting to waste any more time.
The Labirynth City is my next stop... But Brion is going to be much more dangerous than Pap... At least if I don't prepare for his skill-set.
If Brion can truly manipulate the flora then it will be an extremely annoying opponent. I might not even be able to kill it.
Of course, I can't be sure until I actually face him. But Pap was not something I expected to be troublesome, and that turned out to be a mistake.
I flew for a few weeks without much rest. Only stopping from time to time to recover my stamina. Nothing truly interesting happened in that journey.
No other encounter with a Legendary Beast. Just the constant sound of fights and tearing of flesh from the forests. Which is the norm in most of the Continent.
I then found the ruins of the city. I surveyed them from a distance, not getting too close.
The city itself is large, it somehow seems to be eaten up by the flora around it. The trees and roots entering the stone walls and paths.
It was built completely of stone. Moss almost covered it entirely. Whatever this place used to be, it is now claimed by nature.
I need to be careful, I don't know the extents to which Brion can manipulate his surroundings. But, if an entire army fell to him, then it should be quite great...
Well, there were survivors. But they weren't really in any state to be called 'living' only one out of the 7 survivors managed to recover from his injuries. The rest died.
All of them had plants growing out of different parts of their bodies.
They had survived to return to Lake Mobius, but then the plants started growing from any injury they might've had.
That's how Brion got the title 'The Botanical Weapon'. At least that's what is written down. I can't testify to the authenticity of this information. But I doubt it would differ from the truth that much.
Now, I think it's only going to attack me when I step inside the City. But I can't really be sure. So I will fly above it for a while. The flora can't really reach me so easily if I stay in the air.
At least in theory. But I am still prepared for a fight to happen at all times, I can't be 100% sure of the situation inside those ruins. The calamity might attack anything in a certain radius.
And it seems that I was right to be ready for action.
The second I started circling the city and trying to get a closer look, vines and flowers all started rising up to meet me.
The budded flowers tried to stab through my body and the vines kept trying to entangle me.
It was strange, I can feel no Nen coming from them, they aren't being moved by aura, they are just moving.
I dodged around in the air for a while, looking down to see a strange purplish figure. It looked to be human, but instead of a head, it had a large sphere on top of its neck.
This is no doubt, Brion. The guardian of the Ancient Labyrinthine City. I guess it's there to greet me.
The plants aren't exactly moving at unbelievable speeds. It's only about as fast as the Hellbells were.
So, I can easily manoeuvre around them. I just need to keep a certain distance and I'll be fine.
Then, the budded flowers that were trying to stab me opened up and started releasing a purplish mist in my direction.
I pushed the mist away using 'Wind Aspect' and started cutting and ripping apart all of the vines that came near me.
Then, all of the trees around the forest rose up, they all intertwined and started forming a dome-like barrier around the entire city. This level of manipulation was quite staggering.
I was also caught inside said barrier. Upon closer inspection, flowers kept sprouting on the dome. They kept spitting out that mist, but this time, it's in an enclosed space.
And the attacks increased in both intensity and strength, as the place was also filled with poisonous mists.
I created a barrier of air that kept it all away. But this is more of a temporary solution, as the branches and vines were slowly tearing at the barrier.
I created more and more barriers and started expanding them, shredding apart most of the vines around me, but the branches were a lot tougher, I could only push them back.
I need to quickly take out Brion if I want to actually explore this city. This dome will also be helpful, as the beasts won't be able to swarm the city so easily.
But there's another problem. I don't want to ruin the city even further, it would make exploration even harder. So I need to be careful with my attacks.
I used the 'Wind-Strider Boots' to a much greater extent, I was sent flying forwards with a great speed, the air around me parted as I sped towards the ruins of the city.
The vines and branches couldn't catch up at all. I spun in the air as I wound up a kick on the Guardian of the ruins.
But, just as I was about to get closer to him, the roots of trees rose out of the ground and blocked my kick. They immediately entangled my leg as it cracked some of the roots.
I used The Wind Strider Boots to their fullest as I blew myself backwards with a great gust of wind. The roots were forced to let go of me. But vines were closing in form all around me.
I used Wind Aspect to give myself another moment of rest with a barrier. I needed a breath of fresh air.
It also seemed like Brion was stupidly strong while on the ground...
Although... I can think of a few ways to fight this properly.
