Steve Rogers, where had I heard that name before? Nicholas rolls forward and introduces himself. Bea follows but I hold back, trying to figure out who he was.
"Cool shirt!" he says nodding towards my T-shirt. "I'm Conn Rogers, Conn if you will. How are you doing?" He holds out his hand for me to shake, but I don't. Making a fist he pulls it back and smiles "You're Tony aren't you?"
"Yes, and who are you again? I still can't figure it out."
Conn smiles and shakes his head "Conway Rogers, son of Steve and Margaret Rogers, or Captain America's son. If that helps."
I blink a few times processing this information. I had heard of Cap, America's hero, at least until he died. I didn't know Cap had a son, much less anyone who would be willing to take up his mantle.
Conn turns back to the others "So let me show you around camp." he takes us on a long walk showing us the barracks, the wash house, the ammunition bunker, and every other possible thing he could think of. He also reminded us that the whole camp was surrounded by electric fencing.
After we had the grand tour, we head out for the mess hall. In the line I can see all the potatoes those soldiers had been peeling, all made into some sort of soup. It didn't taste good either, I dumped my plate in the trash when no one was looking.
After the meal, our head officer of the barracks we were staying in, barracks 2, sent to us off to bed early because "This was the last chance we'd have to get 'beauty sleep'".
We unpack our clothes and talk. Bea was sent to the girl barracks across the dirt road so it was only Conn, Nicholas and me.
