Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

"'He' is my friend, be nice." She spoke aloud while she looked at me dead on. I chuckled lightly, as she took another bite of the cake. She looked back to the dance floor, even though she commented she was tired, she longed to go back on the stage.

"A dance, my love." I held out my hand and she turned her focus to me. She lightened up immediately, even though she noticed I was jealous, she didn't get frustrated like other girls. Instead she smiled brightly that even her eyes glowed within her mask.

"I never thought you would ask." She took a bite of her cake then set down the plate. "However, let's wait for this song to be over, there will be another round." She took my hand anyway, and clutched on to it. My beast was happy.

When I first walked into the party, Alex was there to greet me. He came over from watching somebody and shook my hand. [She's on the dance floor now.] He spoke then moved on to Micheal, I nodded to the old man then looked for my mate.

Spinning in her royal blue dress, that fanned out, she was smiling, with her eyes sparkling. The dress had gold veins sprawled out on the bottom, that looked like gold streams. The dress was also bareback, and that's when I noticed she was dancing with another man. The man pulled her closer and smiled, my beast was livid.

I walked closer to the dance floor and watched her fluid movements, her hair swishing and waving around every time she turned or twirled. The heals she was wearing, every once in a while peaked out as she dance the Viennese Waltz. It melted away my anger as the light became fixated on her as she flowed around the floor.

"She's a beauty isn't she." A man spoke from behind me, then turned his brown eyes on me. "If it isn't a dear friend, drink?" He asked as he continued to watch my mate.

"No, I'll pass, Julian." He chuckled then walked away from the dance floor, but I knew he kept glancing toward that one beautiful doll. 'She's mine.' I thought to myself bring myself back as I watched the dance come to an end.

"Let's go before we're late." She pulled me to the dance floor and started the Waltz, where many other's joined, as well as her family. She slowed down the tempo and looked around the room when I let her spin, I knew something was on her mind.

"What's wrong?" I whispered puling her closer, breathing in her cedar wood and vanilla scent. Finding the pair of eyes that were watching us, Julian, with a smile plastered on his face. Pulling her closer, she looked into my eyes before she spoke.

"I don't know, but there is someone strange here." She whispered back as the dance came at it's peak, where the twirls would become the main objective and she would be handed off to another partner.

"Who?" I asked knowing my voice sounded rough, she shook her head and looked in another direction. Tightening the hold on her waist I startled her, she didn't stop abruptly, however I knew there were eyes focused on us.

"Loosen up, I'll be fine." She said looking up to my face, it looked flushed, bright red, and her heart beating frantically. She looked like she was going to faint. "It's nothing." She spoke up when I studied her, I would have checked if she had a fever, but that would bring more attention.

"Fine, but after the introduction can you give me some more time?" I asked watching her process the question.

[I'll see what I can do, however many people will want to personally greet me.] She spoke through mind-link as she twirled into another man's arms for a couple of seconds. Coming back to me swiftly, I swear I could hear the chuckle of a man when I lowered her, for the finishing touch.

"Beautiful!" Many from the crowd called as Kenzie stepped off the stage many wanted to dance with her, however I took her elbow and led her away from the whole crowd to the second floor, which had a balcony.

"Daughter." I saw Alex come from the bar, he was slightly drunk, he looked at his daughter with sadness. "Come, there is someone to meet." She let go of my hand and stood straight. Accepting the glass of water a maid walked that was brought to her. She looked exhausted.

"Alex, can it wait?" I caught her as she swayed to the side, she didn't even drink. She leaned against me and she took a couple of breaths.

"Just give me a couple of minuets then I will greet somebody." She spoke as she continued to take deep breaths. Slowly regaining her strength, she continued to drink water provided.

"It's alright darling, I found you anyway." Julian spoke in a sweet velvet tone. He took her hand and planted a kiss on top. He smiled gently toward her, but smirked in my direction. He held out his arm, and she stepped back instantly, color draining her face.

"I'm sorry, I'm not in shape to dance at the moment." She watched the man carefully then grabbed another glass of water. "What is it that you want?" She spoke in a calm voice, yet I could see the strain of the muscles.

This was the first time, that Kenzie has showed a moment of fluster. Julian stood there dressed, in a fine suit, watching the young lady's reaction. With a hint of a smirk, he replied back.

"I'm sorry to hear you're exhausted, however this is not business to speak publicly. The Mafia King is welcome, since he is fond of you." He looked to Alex and nodded. Alex started walking with the three us trailing behind.

'What is happening, I can't be worn out already. My feet are killing me!' I looked to Alex who opened the door and let us in.

I immediately took the bed and started taking off my shoes. The men waited until I let out a sigh of relief. I turned my focus on them, studying each of them.

Alex looked slightly drunk, his hair messy. This man called Julian looked around the room yet would occasionally look into my eyes, and the Mafia King was clearly watching everybody.

"This business, what is it?" Speaking aloud, Julian turned around and smiled. Alex took a seat giving his attention to Julian, and Jacob took a seat next to me on the bed.

"There has been word that you are the next heir to the mafia. You know that this will have to be earned right?" he pulled out a small knife and that triggered Jacob. I grabbed his hand and shook my head.

"Julian Raymond, the psycho that murdered his family in cold blood. Who also has the highest kill rate in the US, impressive, but what was your reason?" He looked at me with blank eyes, I reached for my knife on my thigh for precaution and slid it behind me. "Power." truth flashed in his eyes, but left just as quick.

"I may be a girl, but all my life I've trained to be a mafia leader, and a high class business woman. It's not hard to be both. Yes I'm taking my father's place, but I'll lead a different way. So drop the act, what do you want?" I knew my voice grew cold with every word. I knew there was tension that grew tougher with every minute of silence.

"I came to let you know, not many people will like the change, but the US will support if it goes into your hands. You seem strong, yet I wonder how you are with the thought of murder. Will you have nightmares or will you sleep peacefully." He took a step forward, slowly making it to the bed standing in front of me.

"There is a party, come back later for the answer. However why is there a vampire in my home?" I spoke looked straight into his eyes, he frowned then chuckled. All three men turned their focus on me as I spoke the last sentence.

"Just like the prophecy said, you have a fiery temper." He took a breath and looked at Jacob. "You will become a very important person indeed, however I have no intention on ruining a good night. I came to gauge you and you have my wishes." He spoke and turned around and left the quiet room.

"How did you know he was a vampire?" Both the men spoke, I chuckled sliding the knife back into the sheath.

"Let go, we have a party to attend, boys." I left my shoes off and it was now time for the introduction. How did I know he was a vampire? By his arrogance, and it feel like I knew him from somewhere.
