Chapter 2 - Rain

"It's pouring."

As Atlas' was looking out the window on this spring day, he saw the clouds beginning to gather. The rain started coming down extremely heavily right away giving people no chance to take cover. The sky turned various shades of gray and was layered in clouds, not even a hint of sun or sky coming through. The rain already started collecting on trees flowing off their leaves. He watched as People struggled to get out of the rain, getting into cars as rain hit their rooves or grabbing umbrellas and trying to hurry out. Puddles formed at visible speeds as cars speeding past splashed everywhere. The rain hit the ground and Atlas felt vain, there was nothing good about this rain, there never was. The rain eventually hit the floor and buildings, to Atlas' ears producing a sharp piercing sound louder than usual today.

He was dripping wet from all the rain as he got into his house. He lived in a two-story house with his family. It was a small neighborhood with not many people living there.

Atlas Fox was 23 years old, 6 foot 2 inches tall (187.96cm) Caucasian male. He was quite well built, through the years of hunting and camping with his uncle and working out constantly from the last couple of years. His shoulders were broad and had a dependable feeling to them and the muscles in his legs and arms were lean and toned. His hair was a deep brown, he had the sides cut short and the top was a bit longer, and he had almost amber brown eyes. He had on just a tight plain black shirt with fitted black jeans. He had a handsome face with a sharp jawline.

"Haaah," Sighing Atlas' turned back to check up on his siblings. It was during the evening that he just got back from university and he was exhausted, and the rain did not help. He walked into the living room where he saw his youngest sister Callista watching television.

"Atlas!" she exclaimed as she ran to hug him once she noticed he walked in the room.

"Hey Calli, how was your day?" he responded with a smile as he hugged her back.

"It was good," she quickly responded, "Atlas look what I made."

Callista was a beautiful 5-year-old girl that was why she was named Callista. She was only 3 foot 6 inches (107.9 cm). She had gorgeous blonde hair and cobalt blue eyes. She was wearing a cute sundress with a floral pattern. Her skin looked rosy and had a cute smile plastered to her face.

She sped into the kitchen and came back carrying a drawing. It was a family portrait, filled with messy scribbles and oddly disfigured figures that resembled humans.

"Look this is mom and dad, you, me, Arty and Apollo," she said happily as she pointed at one figure after another. After telling him who was who she looked up, her eyes yearning for praise.

He patted her head as he said, "This is beautiful Calli! Did you show mom and dad yet?"

"Yeah, they said I can hang it on the fridge!"

"That's great Calli, I am going to go say hi to the twins now you wanna keep watching tv?"

She nodded her head furiously as Atlas patted her head one more time. He then left the living room to see where the twins were at. It was when the rain started clearing up, he heard the two of them shouting by the back yard.

"Arty, Apollo what's going on back there you two?" Atlas shouted as he walked towards the backdoor. He saw the twins fighting to get out the backdoor while carrying their recurve bows.

"What are you two doing?"

Artemis was a pretty girl, who was taller than the average already standing at 5 foot 5 inches(165.1cm), at just 14 years old. She had on just her purple sports bra she wore when she exercised and black leggings. She had her elbow length brown hair tied up in a ponytail and she looked at Atlas with the same cobalt blue eyes as her sister. She had a very lean but muscular looking build, and you could tell she exercised. She was holding her recurve bow in her right hand and her quiver in her left.

Apollo was even taller than his twin sister, he was 5 foot 7 inches (170.8cm). He was wearing a fitted blue sports shirt with a pair of gray shorts. He had blonde hair that went up to his ears and the same amber brown eyes that Atlas has. Although not as much as Atlas' he also had a muscular and well-defined body. He was also carrying his bow and quiver.

"Arty said she was going to beat me today and make the score 51-50, I told her she was crazy! So, we decided to have another competition when the rain stopped!" Apollo responded while grabbing and shaking my shirt, out of breath from how fast he was talking and all the shouting.

As He looked at Artimes she looked immensely proud while saying, "That's right today is the day when Apollo's streak ends!" She even struck a pose at the end.

"Alright, you guys can go out, but I need to know who wins, you better try hard Apollo I have seen Arty practicing she has a mean shot." Atlas said as he shot Apollo an almost mocking look.

"Ahhhh, I'm not going to lose!" Apollo replied as he scratched his head in frustration.

Atlas and Artimes just laughed as Atlas said, "Alright you two have fun where is mom and dad?"

"Dad is in the basement and mom is in the bedroom," Artimes said.

"Ok Thanks"

Atlas went down to the basement to see his dad first. As he was heading down the stairs, his dad peeked up around the corner of the stairwell.

"Oh, Atlas your home, come here quickly I have something to show you!"

Atlas' dad was like a carbon copy of his son. He had a similar face and height, but he didn't have very much muscle. He had a messy mop of brown hair on his head that almost covered his eyes and amber brown eyes just like his both his sons. He was wearing a loose fit oversized shirt with big beige khaki pants.

"Really what is it? Did they complete another skeleton?" Atlas replied.

"Exactly and you'll never believe which one it is!"

"which one?"

"You know that Elaphrosaurus bone we found so many years ago?"

"Yeah."

"They just completed the entire skeleton recently! Look at this," Atlas' dad exclaimed as he brought over a laptop with a picture of the display for the dinosaur.

"Holy crap that thing looks awesome!" Atlas replied as he looked between the laptop and his dad.

"I know right! Well, anyways you can go upstairs and say hi to your mother."

"How did you know I haven't seen mom yet?"

"You always go to see your mom last," he said as he rolled his eyes.

Atlas walked back upstairs to talk to his mom. 'It's Calli's birthday in just over a week, I still haven't decided what to get her,' he finished his train of thought just as he got to his parents' bedroom.

"Mom?" he asked as he knocked on the door.

He opened the door as she said, "Come in."

Atlas' mom was a beautiful woman who looked much younger than she was. She had long blonde hair and the same cobalt blue eyes as her daughters. She was 5 foot 6(167.64cm) and she was still wearing her hospital scrubs.

"Hey Atlas, can you help me get the kitchen ready for dinner?" she asked.

"Yea sure mom, we should talk about what we are doing for Calli's birthday afterwards."

She nodded as Atlas walked out of the room to get ready for dinner.

After they got ready for dinner, they all sat down at the table ready to eat. As they did it started to rain again bringing with it a menacing feeling.
