Caspian wandered through the murky waters for a few days with no clear destination in mind. He realized the reason he was swallowed up by Serpentina was that he had nowhere to call home. The new objective for Caspian was to find some kind of safe haven that was easily accessible, yet hidden from predators. His hope was to find a cave that happened to be vacant, fix it up, and begin his ascension in this world.
As Caspian searched for his new home, his mind drifted back to Saydie. While he didn't know her for very long, he did think fondly of her as she was the first person he encountered in his new life. Sure, he had met Yam, but Yam was long dead before Caspian arrived. Now that Caspian was on his own once again, the loneliness was starting to creep up on his mind. It wasn't as if Caspian hadn't dealt with being alone before, in his past life he was left alone quite often. Caspian thought back to memories from his old life where he would stay in his room studying for days at a time, only leaving to eat.
Anyway, all of that was behind him now, in this life he could only rely on himself and his system to survive. Caspian searched for a while longer and decided to stop when he noticed a sizable crevice in a wall that was nearby. While not as secretive as he would like, Caspian thought that it would do nicely for the time being. The only problem would be if there was something with an appetite waiting inside for him. Caspian made the reluctant decision to deposit the six status points he had collected evenly among his stats. Even though he made sure to upgrade his stats at a slow pace, Caspian could tell that even if he were to upgrade all ten points of a stat at once, it wouldn't be as bad as before.

Caspian felt his body undergo the usual pain and brushed it off, as he had gotten used to it at this point. He had no idea how his strength compared to the other "tribes" of this world, but before testing it out, he wanted to become strong enough to take his revenge on Serpentina.
Caspian cautiously swam toward the crevice, mentally preparing himself for whatever may be inside lying in wait. Poking his head inside, he was immediately met with the face of a giant coiled up eel. The eel seemed to be sleeping, which gave Caspian the edge he needed to get the jump on it. Caspian silently brought put two of his spikes and lined up a shot, intending to hit the eel right between the eyes.
The first shot escaped Caspian's right arm, and as the spike rocketed through the water, Caspian prayed that this eel didn't have some sort of shield blocking it. The spike hit it's intended shot however, but the spike didn't penetrate very deep into the eel. Unfortunately for Caspian, the eel opened its eyes and immediately started to unravel itself. In a moment of panic, Caspian shot off another spike, this time hitting the eel in it's left eye, effectively blinding it. The eel screeched in pain, trying to regain it's composure, it began beating its tail onto the wall behind it.
Rocks crashed down in all directions, eventually the eel had created another hole in the wall at the back of the cave like structure. Caspian did not want to be crushed in a cave-in. He tried to rush for the exit, but to his surprise, the eel had already slithered behind him, blocking his exit. At this point, all Caspian could do was fight it off. He shot another four spikes into the eel's face, including the second eye. This time, the eel was furious as it began throwing its entire body all over the cave, knocking down everything in its path.
While Caspian was focused on the falling rocks, he failed to notice that there was a slight feeling of static in the water. Caspian turned around just in time to see a giant ball of light escape the eel's mouth and get directed at him. Upon contact, Caspian felt as if his body were being fried like an egg. The eel waited for the intruder to die at the hands of it's all mighty electric power, unfortunately that did not happen. Caspian felt dizzy as the pain started to dull, he then looked at his HP and saw that the attack just now had sent his HP from 25/25 to 15/25. One attack had taken ten points off of his health, Caspian realized that he needed to proceed with extreme caution.
He had already used eight of his twenty five available Venom Spike Shots, which did not seem to be working because of the eel's thick skull. At that very moment, Caspian had an idea, if the skull was too hard to stab into, he would aim for the more squishy bits instead. Readying another shot, Caspian shot for the center of the eel and, surprisingly, went all the way inside of the eel. Immediately the eel started keeling over and twisting into a ball. It began leaking a green ooze from it's newest wound, the ooze was also escaping it's eyes and mouth.
Caspian guessed that this was the poison form his spike running its course. At that point, monster knew it was fated to die at the hands of this small intruder, but it would try to take him along with it to the afterlife. With it's dying breaths, the eel summoned all of it's strength and batted Caspian through the wall in the back of the cave and through to the other side. The eel then collapsed into a dead heap on the cave floor, satisfied in knowing that it had killed its attacker.
Unfortunately for Caspian's would-be murderer, he was still very much alive, albeit injured. Caspian lay on the floor of this newly made cave and rested a while as he waited for his MP to restore. He wanted to use Essence to heal, but did not have much to spare. Deciding to bite the bullet, Caspian used 2,000 Essence to heal just enough of his body so that he was able to move properly. He then swam back to the eel's dead body and extracted the Essence from it. To his shock, the eel had given him 10,000 Essence, the most he had ever gotten from a single being. Caspian had also received something else in the form of a notification.
[Congratulations, New Skill Acquired- Lightning Breath.]
"I HAVE WHAT?!" Caspian audibly exclaimed. He wasn't used to the system or how it determined what abilities he would get or not.
Thinking that he would try out his new skill later, for now he wanted to check out his surroundings. As he turned around, he caught his breath in disbelief, what he thought would be an empty space was actually home to an enormous abandoned pirate looking ship. With that he swam to it, preparing to become more acquainted with his new system, new skill, and his new home.
