Roy and the others followed behind Laila, curiously and nervously looking around, everything felt so unbelievable. Even the trees planted by the roadside had been meticulously pruned, displaying a more elegant and lush appearance compared to anywhere else.
"Linda, does everyone who comes to the island have a private butler?" Sitting in the helicopter, he couldn't help but ask.
Linda smiled and replied, "Yes, every distinguished guest who receives an invitation will have a dedicated service."
Laila suddenly realized. No wonder both she and her mother were assigned private butlers. It wasn't based on the number of people or giving each family one, but rather it was allocated based on the invitations.
In other words, if she hadn't received an invitation and had come as part of her grandfather and mother's entourage, she wouldn't have received the treatment of a private butler. Being able to receive an invitation meant that she wasn't here just because of her family background; her abilities and strength were sufficient to become a premium member and worthy of having a service team prepared by American Express Company.
Laila felt like she had subtly flattered herself, and she had to admit that this bit of flattery was quite enjoyable to accept.
The island was quite large. It took more than ten minutes for the helicopter to reach its final destination, a villa area located on the island. From above, they could see various styles of villas standing amidst the foliage.
After disembarking, Linda handed Laila a hardcover brochure in a lobby, saying, "This contains all our room types. Please choose the one you prefer for your stay."
Laila flipped through a few pages. There were European styles, Mediterranean styles, and even Chinese styles and castles. Without hesitation, she pointed to the Chinese-style architecture, "This one."
"Very well." Linda smiled as she took back the brochure and made a phone call to arrange everything, "Please follow me."
Laila chose a villa with a hint of garden vibes, an authentic Chinese style that didn't have any odd details. It appeared to have been specially designed by professionals. Some areas were even adorned with plants that had a distinctive Chinese flavor, like bamboo and maple trees, creating a lush and delightful atmosphere.
Compared to her grandfather who brought along a team of assistants and bodyguards, and her mother who had a group of makeup artists and stylists, Laila seemed quite simple with only Claire, Demi, Roy, Theron, and two bodyguards.
She even felt a bit shortchanged. If she had known, she could have brought more people. Perhaps she should have considered bringing some of the company's executives to enjoy the charm of the tropical island. After all, it was all free.
Both the pathfinder, Linda, and the rest of the group saw an elegant young lady from a prominent family, dignified and refined, which was to be expected. But who would have thought that in her mind at this moment, she was contemplating terms like "loss" and "free"?
In front of outsiders, Laila always presented herself as a lady with class and the aura of an aristocrat. From her gestures to her expressions, every detail could be recorded as an example in the etiquette handbook. This was largely due to the education she received as Little Laila, the girl raised to be a lady. Although she didn't have many opportunities to showcase this image, she had truly refined herself under the guidance of her beloved grandfather and mother.
The old Little Laila had been brought back to heaven by her beloved God, and the reborn Laila had inherited her essence, displaying her elegance to the world.
At this moment, she undoubtedly appeared very elegant, very ladylike and exuded the qualities of an aristocrat. Yet, in Roy's eyes, the more he looked, the more he felt a dislike that he couldn't explain.
Her lips curved beautifully, her walking posture was graceful, and every gesture and detail seemed flawless. However, in Roy's eyes, this shouldn't be Laila, or at least not Laila who scolded him and threatened to beat him at every turn.
He couldn't see the usual hint of a smile in her eyes. Her ice-blue eyes seemed even colder than usual, as if there was an invisible barrier, sealing away her true emotions from her gaze. They say that eyes are the windows to the soul, but at this moment, Roy felt like her windows were shut tight.
He didn't like this version of Laila at all, really disliked it!
The group remained silent as they walked along the path and reached the villa Laila had chosen. Following the corridors and winding paths with a strong Chinese ambiance, they arrived at the largest guest room.
"Miss Laila, this is your residence. If you need anything, just press the communicator on the wall. I am at your service 24 hours a day for anything you require."
Linda respectfully stood with her hands folded in front of her abdomen, bowing in courtesy.
Laila smiled and said, "Thank you. I'd like to rest for a bit. Please arrange accommodations for them, and I'll come to you if there's anything."
"As you wish."
Linda smiled and acknowledged before directing the others to adjacent rooms to settle in.
After some arrangements, the group finally got everything in order before dinner.
Feeling a bit tired, Laila didn't go out. Instead, she had dinner brought to her room. Roy and the others followed her, and since she wasn't going out, the others naturally didn't want to wander around aimlessly and potentially cause trouble. When they thought about the kind of people who would be present, mostly billionaires and influential figures, they couldn't help but feel a sense of restraint.
"Linda, what's the plan for tomorrow?" During dinner, Laila asked Linda, who was helping arrange the dishes.
"Since some guests haven't arrived yet, you can fully enjoy the scenery and facilities on Golden Island tomorrow and the day after. A party will be held on the evening of the third day, and all guests will be present."
Upon hearing the mention of an event, Roy's eyes lit up, and he grinned, "What kind of activities are there?"
Linda smiled as she introduced, "You can go diving near the coast, do some fishing, or explore the jungle and hunt. In the woods, we have some animals raised by our company. I believe you will have a very rewarding experience."
"Raised animals? Aren't they gentle and not very interesting?" Roy was more interested in engaging in exciting activities, like hunting some fierce beasts or chasing after rabbits, something he wouldn't be ashamed of.
Laila glanced at him and said calmly, "Do you want to bring back a lion or a tiger?"
"Wouldn't that be cool?"
"Yes, very cool. Just not sure if you'll still look cool missing an arm or with a broken leg."
Joking aside! Introducing fierce beasts to a place where prominent figures congregated, what if they accidentally injured or bit someone? Who would bear the responsibility for that? If they couldn't even ensure the guests' safety, why did they invite so many people to play? Was AmEx trying to make enemies with the world's wealthiest individuals?
Roy, however, wasn't bothered by those concerns. He exclaimed, "You underestimate me!"
"It seems you haven't reached the pinnacle of foolishness yet. Yes, you can interpret it that way." Laila straightforwardly praised him with a nod.
