Prince Conrad's POV
When I got home, my mind was still a mess. I felt so horrible whenever I pictured my wife's face in my mind. Thalia's words keep on ringing in my head like a deadly curse that can kill me anytime. My wife is a strong woman, but even the strongest woman will break down once someone they loved betrayed them. However, I never intended to do this to her, and Thalia must be lying. She set those up. I knew she did it.
"Brother, what are you doing here?" I saw Connor approaching me. "You are home early today." He added.
"Yeah, the rogues have been settled already." I stated. I sighed and tried to discard the thought of Thalia's allegation of me cheating on my wife. That bitch.
"Is something the matter?" Connor asked as he leaned on the wall while trying to analyze my face.
I shook my head. "It's nothing. Are you done helping the King with his documents?" I asked him.
"Yes, and I'm on my way to see my sister." He said as he smirked.
I frowned. "You mean my wife?" I said, stressing the word wife.
"Is she? You don't look like her husband though." He said with another smirk that made my wolf growled at him. He just laughed at us. "Hey Alpha, calm down." He said as he laughed. Jerk.
"Where is my wife?" I asked, still stressing the word wife.
"She's in the library." He said as he walked passed by me. "Go and get her for me." He said as he laughed.
"Damn you!" I shouted at him before I ran going to the library.
When I enter the library, it took me almost five minutes to find her at the most corner of the room. She was sitting comfortably on the edge of the glass window. Several books were scattered near her, and a half-filled cup of hot chocolate drink was beside her. She was so focused on her book that she did not even sense me sitting beside her.
"Hey." I greeted her to get her attention. She slowly looked at me as her eyes widen in disbelief.
"Your highness!" She shouted as she dropped her book and hugged me. I was taken aback by her sudden reaction, but that few seconds' hug made my worries vanished. "I apologize. I'm just so surprised to see you!" She said while smiling.
I chuckled. "You should've said you missed me." I teased her. She made a face as she picked up her book.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, diverting the topic. Though, her reaction told me that she missed me a hundred times as I do. She has no freaking idea.
"I looked for you to request for a hug." I said while wiggling my eyebrows at her while smiling. I open my arms wide open and ready to hug her, but she just rolled her eyes at me.
"Haven't you had enough hugging me every night?" She asked as she continued reading her book. I looked at her in surprise.
"So, you knew. I did not know you're awake." I said as I smirked. She hid her face behind a book she's holding. She must be embarrassed. I chuckled at her cute reaction. "What are you reading this time?" I checked on the books scattered around her, and my eyes widen in disbelief. "These are all about werewolves!" I shouted even the book she was holding is about a werewolf.
"I can't get enough of their tale. I was so amazed to know that they also have mates. I cannot believe how strong their pull to each other. They have a very strong admiration, attraction, affection, desire, and love for each other the moment they met their mates. Werewolves must be loyal to their mates, right?" She stated and asked me while her eyes are twinkling in happiness. The word loyal hit me like an arrow. I swallowed a lump in my throat. Why I got so bothered all of a sudden? "By the way, how would you know that a certain wolf is an Alpha?" She asked me.
"Their Alpha, physically, is the biggest compare with other wolves." I answered without telling her other details about being an Alpha. I never thought she's this so interested in our kind.
She nodded. "I hope I could meet an Alpha. The book says that once the Alpha met his mate, she would be her Luna, and they will lead their pack. I'm so amazed. They are just like King and Queen of their own kingdom." She said, but then her reaction suddenly changes. "However, I found out that a male or a female werewolf can reject their mate. That's cruel." She looks sad as she stated those details. "How can they reject their mate even though they have this strong bond between them?" She asked.
"They reject their mate if they don't want to be with them. Some of the reasons are because of their mates' status on their pack, their mate is a rogue, or their mate did something terrible to them. Both wolves must accept the rejection for the rejection to work." I explained to her.
"I thought you hate werewolf?" She suddenly asked curiously. She must be confused why I know details about her favorite tale.
"I did not say I hate werewolf. It's just that most humans knew they were just tales, a fantasy." I said.
"What do you mean?" She asked with a shocked expression.
"Will you believe me if I told you that werewolves are real?" I asked.
"Are they? You mean, you have seen werewolves? They are living with us?" She asked.
I nodded. "Do you believe me?" I asked. "Would you like to see a real werewolf in front of you?" I asked seriously. I think this is the right time to tell her little by little about our kind. I know she will freak out, but I am hoping she will accept the truth eventually. I need her to fill the role of being a Luna to our pack.
"No freaking way." She said as I looked at her in confusion. "Are you a werewolf?"
