Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Princess Liviana's POV

"Welcome back, my dear Lili." Prince Elias welcomed me the moment we arrived at their kingdom, my home since I was a kid until I married the man beside me. Prince Elias was hugging me tightly when my husband dragged me away from my brother. He knew we're related, but he still gets mad whenever we're closed physically. Prince Elias chuckled at his actions. I just shook my head.

"Happy birthday, brother." I greeted him. My husband and I were invited to attend his birthday and the festival. We're planning to stay here for two weeks.

"Thank you, Lili. I'm glad you made it." He said, smiling.

"I can't say no to you. You're too special to ignore." I said.

"However, I wasn't expecting him to be here as well." He looked at my husband. He looks so mad and bored.

"Me neither." I answered, chuckling.

"What?" My husband hissed. He didn't want me to go home and attend my brother's birthday. I don't know exactly the reason, but he always seems mad.

My brother and I ignored his reaction. "Enjoy the party tonight. For now, go to your room first and rest." He said.

"We will. Thank you." I said. He left then we headed to my room. "Please stop sulking. Whether you like it or not, we're here already." I said to him.

"I'm not sulking." He denied. "I just cannot stand the fact that you're meeting your moron ex-lover again." He said irritably.

"I can smell jealousy from here." I teased him. Lately, he's been so vocal regarding his feelings, but he always denies it.

"You're so full of yourself." He answered. He's carrying our baggage. I remembered how he got frustrated with what things and clothes he should bring.

"I will show you around." I announced. "During the festival, we always have archery competition."

"I will be witnessing your archery skills, then." He stated as he smirked.

"I never win." I specified.

"That didn't surprise me." He said mockingly. I tried my best to stop myself from hurting him.

"I never win against Prince Elias. He's my mentor, after all." I explained. "I wish I could win this time."

"You'll win this time, for sure." He said confidently.

"Why did you say so?" I ask curiously.

"Because I'm here." I suddenly stopped from my track and looked at him with distaste. "What?" He said innocently. I just shook my head, and open the door of my room. "Wait, this is your room? Your room is at the end of the aisle?" He said, puzzled.

"What's the matter? The important thing is I have a room." I said like it was nothing. I placed our things on the couch. "Feel at home." I said, smiling.

"That's odd." I heard him mumbled. He removed his shoes, and he lay down on my bed. "This kingdom is huge. Big houses are everywhere." He stated.

"And your kingdom has less. You got vast forest land." I said.

"We preferred forest than putting residential and commercial areas." He said.

"I figured." I said as I arranged our things in the closet. "Where do you want to go first?" I asked him.

"I'm hungry. Can you cook for me first?" He requested.

"Sure. Rest while I'm preparing our food." I said before leaving him. He just groaned in response. He looked sleepy since we left at dawn to get here early.

I went to the kitchen and asked the royal chef for the ingredients. He gladly gave me what I needed then I started cooking. I should've asked the royal chef to cook for us, but I am not residing here anymore, so I don't feel like instructing them around. I feel like a guest more than a family member.

After almost an hour, I'm done preparing the food. I placed it on the food tray and brought it to our room where the great 'your highness' was sleeping soundly.

"You're snoring." I said once he opened his eyes. His eyebrows immediately knitted in annoyance.

"I never snore." He retorted. "How many hours did I sleep?" He asked while I'm placing the food on the table.

"Just an hour, I guess." I said.

"What? Just an hour? Why did you wake me up?" He asked, irritated. He must still be sleepy.

"If I didn't wake you up, you will complain why I didn't wake you up, and that's the reason." I explained. "Come here. Let's eat." I invited him. He sits lazily on the chair.

We eat in silence until few minutes had passed, he spoke. "Are we sleeping together?" I almost choked. "Are you all right?" He immediately gave me a glass of water.

"Aren't we sleeping together since we got married?" I asked.

"We are. What I mean is, are we sleeping on the same bed?" He asked clearly.

"It's your turn to sleep on the couch." I announced.

"You're rude, you know that? I will sleep on the same bed with you tonight. End of discussion." He stated.

My eyes widen in disbelief. "That's an invasion of privacy." I countered.

"The hell with your privacy. Privacy is nonsense when you decided to marry me." He said proudly.

I shook my head. "You're unbelievable." I hissed.

"Your scent lingers in this whole room. It gives me comfort." He said while munching his food. "I got a good nap because of that." He added.

"You're insane. How my scent gives you comfort?" I asked, puzzled. He's weird again.

"You don't have the slightest idea how." He said, smiling.

His smile gave me creeps, but I ignored it, and I avoided his gaze. "Let's go. I will show you around the castle, and hopefully, we bump into the majesties to say our greetings." I said.

He put his shoes back, and we hurriedly went outside to start our day in this kingdom where he knew I was born, and hopefully, I could show him what I was like in my childhood days. I want to show him who I was before I became his wife.
