Princess Liviana's POV
"Castle here looks different than ours." He commented. "This castle looks modern." He added.
"They renovated some of the areas, and they changed some of the details. I don't know if the previous royal family will be delighted to see the changes." I said.
"They will surely don't mind. Besides, they cannot do anything about it. They are dead, aren't they?" He asked as I rolled my eyes.
"You're not fun to talk with, you know that?" I stated.
"Same goes to you." I knew he will talk back.
"You're boring." I hissed.
"So do you." He answered.
While we're walking and bickering with each other in the courtyard, we unexpectedly meet the majesties. "Princess Liviana." The King said. We walked in front of them, and we curtsied.
"Your Majesties." I said.
"It's good to see you again." The King said as he eyed my husband. "We're honored to have you as part of the family." He said.
"It's my pleasure, your majesty. Thank you." Conrad said.
"Has my daughter been a headache to you, Crown Prince?" My mother suddenly spoke. I lowered my gaze as I felt my heart sunk. I saw in my peripheral vision that Conrad looked at me wearing a puzzled look.
After a few seconds, he decided to answer the Queen. "She's giving me a headache, indeed." I quickly looked at him angrily. "She's stubborn and hard to handle." I saw my mother smirked. She made a face that she won a battle. "Though, I know I found an amazing woman. I'm blessed to have her for the rest of my life as my wife." His hands instantly landed on my waist and pulled me closer to him. I was shocked by what he did so was my mother.
What the hell happened to this guy? Earlier, he just mocked me and told me that I'm not fun and boring. Where did he get those lines just now? Is he toying me?
"Jerk." I whispered to him since we're just an inch away from each other. He just chuckled as a response.
"So, are we expecting a new member of the family?" The King swiftly asked. We looked at each other like we're clueless about what the King was asking. "What? Your first wedding anniversary was last month, right? You're more than a year as a couple." He announced. Right then, I remembered how our first wedding anniversary went.
One month ago, I asked Connor and Colten to help me with the preparation for our first wedding anniversary. The Queen suggested that I should make a surprise celebration for my husband for our anniversary. I was unsure if my husband would like the idea of this kind of celebration, though I still did it.
I arranged a candlelight dinner in the garden. Connor and Colten hanged few pieces of light bulbs in the area. They also set up the table; they put candles on every corner of the garden and spread some petals around the table. This kind of setup usually was made by a guy, but I wanted to be romantic once in a while that's why I did it.
Earlier that day, he told me that he will be back before dinner time. I thought that was just a perfect time for a dinner celebration. The King provided a costly wine for us to drink. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I even changed my dress and wore light make-up. The setup and the food looked amazing. I also prepared a small gift that I bought from downtown.
However, my excitement and nervousness vanished when my husband did not go home during dinner time. I still waited for few more hours until my stomach aches because of starvation. Connor and Colten tried to convince me to eat, I declined because I wanted to eat with him and celebrate our first wedding anniversary that badly.
Several hours have passed, I was still waiting in the garden when suddenly I felt pain in my whole body. I perked up to call for help, but I got tripped on the ground. A new surge of pain hit my body, and I screamed. The pain was familiar, it happened to me a few months ago. I felt my tears escaped my eyes as another pain struck me. My vision was getting blurry as I felt the pain continuously hitting me.
The next day, I found myself on the bed inside our room. I felt so drained, and my body got drained. I wasn't able to move an inch of my body. Connor told me that he found me unconscious in the garden. I told him what happened to me and he was expecting it. He gave me food and medicine to drink. He also informed me that my husband just got back at dawn.
Connor told me that his brother was worried as hell, but I did not see him the whole day. On next morning, he went inside the room and looked at me awkwardly and apologetically. He said he was sorry for not remembering our first wedding anniversary. Since I was so mad, I just shot him with a glance, and I did not talk to him for few days. I did not even bother to ask him where he has been that night.
My heart aches so badly as well as my whole body. Maybe our wedding was not important for him at all. I promised myself that I will never celebrate our next wedding anniversaries ever again.
Getting back to the present time, I looked at the King, smiling. "Yes, your majesty. As for the new member of the family, we haven't talked about it yet." I said.
I glanced at Conrad who's avoiding my gaze. Since I started talking to him again, I tried to erase that night from my memory, but painful moments are hard to forget. It was more painful than breaking my relationship with Philip before.
I hope time really heals any wound.
