The rumbling was getting stronger and stronger. Whole structure of the den was deforming with every shock.
The basement cave was also falling down due to tremors.
Screeching sounds were echoing throughout the cave. All the Ant-like creatures were in turmoil.
The colony was being attacked.
But they were not so surprised, as one might think they should because they always were on guard. Thousands of Ant-creatures marched out off the cave like brave soldiers. They stood in formations protecting the entrance of the den. There was not even an ounce of hesitation in their movements.
Scattered on the ground, reddish-violet colored ants totally covered the black soil. Almost thousand square meters of area was covered by the ants. Violet red wave was storming on the grounds. Now that they had taken their positions before the enemy could attack, they were more confident.
Defense so strong, even the wind cannot pass through.
But it was not enough to stop the rumbling. Instead it was getting stronger and stronger with each passing second. Tremors were reaching at insane levels.
The den had taken too much damage by now, because of the tremors alone. The ground under the ants was also vibrating. The army was getting anxious. Just when they were about to begin the second phase of their defense, the quakes stopped abruptly.
There was an unsettling calm all of a sudden, which was the cause of an ominous feeling for them.
Despite this, the defensive formation didn't budged at all.
"BAAAANNNNNGGGGG"
With a loud BANG, the creature, the cause of the tremors, finally revealed itself.
It was a 9 feet tall four legged huge Beast. Each of its steps were enough to cause tremors, treading its path majestically towards the den. Its green and radiant fur which paralleled green flames lusciously moved with the wind. Its five spear tails were its rear shield. Claws and fangs of steel shining in the dark night, it truly was terrifying. Beast proceeded calmly towards the army, neither too fast nor too slow.
Ants were enraged with the appearance of this beast. They were arch-enemies. Both sides sized each other in disdain.
When they were a mile apart the beast stopped advancing any further. It again sized-up the army and begun stomping its forelegs again on the ground.
The Beast was challenging the ANT-QUEEN for battle, which was still in the cave.
It continued to stomp on the ground, and in the next second, beast stood in front of the army, covering one mile distance in a single leap.
The stomping served its purpose as a distraction, and beast let out its first attack.
It rammed its heavy body into the army defenses, breathed out green flames from its mouth and retreated back, to make some distance between them. Everything done in a single move.
The front row of the Defense were cremated with flames.
It was a great attack. First it made them loosen their positions, then the flames burned them and acted as a smoke screen, which hindered them from counter attacking and it retreated back unharmed.
100s of Ants were ashened in a single move. Ashes still caught upto those green flames.
The army was enraged, but without a leader they still couldn't retaliate. Their only option was to be on defense for now.
This loss was not that lethal for their army, as they still had thousand more soldiers.
Ants rebuilt their defense formation and raised their mandibles for defending against another such physical attack.
But the beast was cunning. It stood still at some safe distance, not moving an inch. It was waiting for the QUEEN to appear, atleast that's what everyone thought.
A minute or two later, screeching sounds were heard within the defenses, which were followed by the deafening sounds of explosion.
It was the bodies of the ants which were exploding. Army was bewildered, confused and now were panic struck. It was chaotic within the defense lines.
Sounds of explosion were getting more frequent, which sound similar to loud drum beats whose tempo was very high. Ten to Twenty bodies were exploding every five seconds.
Nobody knew what was happening, except from the beast.
The sound of explosions, the panicked screeching of the ants , it all was a pleasant music to the beasts ears.
Army was now fully focused on resolving the issue of explosion before it gets more worse.
But it was too late. Nearly half of the army had died of explosion, and now only remained few hundreds of them. The black soil of the ground was painted with another layer of black blood, which reflected the dark night perfectly. No traces of corpses were left of the deceased ants.
It was a insanely dreadful situation for the Ants.
But they still didn't give up. They were trying their best to figure out the cause.
Ants tried their best to defend against the unknown weapon, bodies exploded, ants tried again.
This situation continued for a while.
Just when the beast was getting sure of its victory, the situation changed.
