Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Karson!" Jason yelled, a small smile on his face. Karson looked up, a big smile immediately spread on his face. That's when he noticed a man a familiar man behind him. He felt panic rise in his chest when he saw the gun in his hand.

His smile slowly faded and he rushed towards him. Karson ran into his arms. Jason smiled, he tumbled backward a bit but he regained his balance. A loud gunshot was heard. Screams were heard as everyone rushed to hide. Jason looked up and came face to face him.

His eyes widen, not expecting to be caught. He dropped his gun and ran off. Jason felt Karson go limp in his arms. He fell to his knees. Karson was slowly losing consciousness.

"Karson? Stay with me okay" He said as he pulled off his jacket. He applied pressure on his wound.

He heard panicked whispering and he looked up. He rolled his eyes when he saw the crowd of people.

"Don't just stand there! Call 911!" He yelled angrily.

"Jason?" He heard a small whimper.

He looked down, his eyes immediately softening. "I'm right here, puppy," He said softly. Karson groaned in pain. Everything started moving in slow motion. All the noise became muffled.

He felt tears fill his eyes. He heard sirens in the background, but he knew it was too late.

Oh wait, you don't know the full story yet. Let's take it back to the beginning. Before they got to this point.

Karson was a normal boy, he had a normal life. He went to school, did his work, he was a good student and son. He loved his parents and they loved him, well in their way. His life was "perfect".

Karson was currently in school. He was in his history class, listening to some boring lesson. He felt something hit his back, he flinched but turned around. He saw a paper ball on the ground.

" Pick it up, dumbass! " A classmate, Marcos, of his yelled.

He looked up at the teacher who was sleeping. He sighed and picked it up. He opened it and it was a drawing of a pig. There written was 'C*cksucker'.

Aiden, another classmate, threw a rule at him. It hit his head with a loud smack. "Bullseye. Told you I could do it" He laughed. Karson sighed, annoyed. But there was nothing he could do. So he ignored it.

Which resulted in him getting a slap on the back of his head. He looked up and made eye contact with Aiden. "Aiden at least wait until after class" He heard a familiar voice say. Karson looked up and made eye contact with his teacher, Mr. Banner, he stood there smirking at him. He let out a defeated sigh.

Darciel scoffed as he leaned back in his chair, watching everything. The class continued to do whatever they were doing and Karson sat there staring at the clock. He knew what he was about to do wasn't the best idea but he didn't care. He didn't feel like getting beaten today. The bell finally rang and he sprinted out of the classroom. He ran to his bus, not stopping.

He sat in the bus seat, he made it without a fight. But he couldn't let his guard down just yet. Karson looked out the window and saw Aiden and his little group of followers, including Darciel which confused him, looking around. The bus began moving and he smirked. He stood up and yelled out the window "Better luck next time Darci!"

Darciel looked up and glared harshly. Karson flinched but he knew he couldn't do anything to him, now that he was on a moving bus. He stuck out his tongue and middle finger. When the bus finally moved out of sight he sat back in his seat, with a smile.

That felt nice to go against him and stand up for himself. 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘯. He thought. His stop was coming into view and he sat up. He felt fear creep into his chest, for some unknown reason. He didn't see his fathers' car and relief washed over him. He felt bad for thinking like that but he couldn't help it.

He trudged down the steps of the bus, as he plugged in his earbuds. His favorite song was the first to play. Surprisingly he was having good luck today. But it felt different. Like the calm before the storm. He did his best to shrug off the odd feeling. He focused on his walk home. Humming along to the song.

Karson arrived home without a worry. His parents weren't even home. He entered his home, taking his shoes off. He noticed a note on the counter next to him. He picked it up. The only words he paid any attention to were 'weekend' and 'Florida'.

"Yes!" He cheered, happily. He danced around a bit as he entered the kitchen. He was extremely happy, that he couldn't contain it.

The next hour was spent blasting out music and baking cookies. He danced around as he took his cookies out of the oven. Which wasn't a good idea once he burned his hand. "owie fuck balls!" he winced in pain.

Karson let go of the tray and it hit the counter with a loud clatter. He inspected his injury. It turned a bright red and he was in so much pain. Karson looked through the draws for some ointment. He was left disappointed when he couldn't find any.

He pouted and walked to the door. He had no choice but to go to the store. He wasn't in the mood to socialize but he had nothing else to relieve the pain. Karson arrived at the liquor store two blocks away from his home. He entered and was greeted by Mrs. Kim, a woman in her late fifties, the store owner.

"Hello, good evening ma'am" He smiled. He walked to the health care aisle. "All I'm saying is why not give it a shot. She could be cute" He heard some guy say. He turned around saw two guys around his age. "Dude I'm gay," He said bluntly. "I know, I know. I just feel bad for her. Damn, I sound like an idiot. Never mind don't give her a shot" He said shaking his head. The taller guy laughed and nudged him with his elbow.

Karson realized he was staring and quickly looked away. He so badly wanted a friendship like that. But with his reputation at school, it's something impossible. He pouted and picked up the ointment. He left to pay not noticing the two boys' curious eyes.

Karson arrived home and lied on the floor. His music still blasting. He no longer felt the energy he felt before. All he wanted to do now was curl up in bed and stay there. He sang along to the words of the song "Don't know if I can play this part much longer"
