Just then Erica's phone rang bringing her back from the past memories.
Erica glanced at her phone only to see an unknown number calling her, before answering the phone she wiped the moist tears near her eyes.
When she remembers this day from the past, she has tears in her eyes.
"Hello"
"Hey Erica, Steve here"
The voice that always charmed her rang in her ears and she wondered why he called her and how he got her number although the answers to both her questions were obvious.
"Yeah, what happened?"
"You left early from the office, I was waiting for you to finish your work"
"Why?"
"What why? We are meeting after so many years, don't you want to catch up?"
"Steve I am really tired"
Erica wanted to avoid meeting him at any cost but Steve didn't take the hint.
"Why? What happened? Are you still not well?"
"Hmm"
"Jack did tell me, wait I'll come to your home then"
"No need" Erica almost shouted on her phone.
"What no need? Have you forgotten how many times you cared for me when I was not well, I am coming over."
"No" But Steve already hung up the call, he got her address from Jack so he headed to her house.
After some time, Erica's doorbell rang, she wondered did Steve really come over here, it must be him because no one visits Erica's house and definitely not at a time like this.
She went to open the door and saw through the peephole and it was indeed home, she rolled her eyes and told herself to not get waved by his presence.
"Hey Steve, please come in.", She tried to smile and look happy because of his presence.
After she closed the door, she turned around only to find him standing very close to her instead of sitting in the living room.
"What happened?" She questioned him as he was still standing there and didn't go inside.
He didn't say anything and suddenly
Suddenly he bent towards her and touched his forehead with hers, Erica's heart started beating faster and for a moment she didn't understand what he was doing, then he moved back.
"It doesn't seem like fever, what exactly happened to you?" He questioned her with concern.
Then she realized he was checking her temperature.
During high school, she saw an anime where the female lead checks the male lead's temperature this way and once when Steve was not well she checked his temperature this way and she was able to actually detect his high temperature.
Since then whenever Steve used to fall sick, she used to confirm if he had a fever or not this way.
It seemed he too learnt this way of checking temperature from her.
"Yeah, I am fine now." She nonchalantly replied and went towards her living room, she wanted to calm her fast-beating heart, so she kept telling herself that she has no chance to be with him and she should not harbor any feelings or hopes about him.
"But earlier on call you said you are not well." Steve was seriously concerned about her.
"Steve, I am on my periods." Erica lied as she wanted to shut him up and this was the best excuse she could come up with.
"Oh, if that was the case, you should have said so earlier, why hide it?" He casually asked her and looked at the kitchen and headed there.
"I was not comfortable in telling you and why the hell are you entering my kitchen?"
