"No!" Lily yelled. "I am not going with some strangers who call themselves travellers to find the world's bests." She shouted.
I knew she would say something like that. We didn't speak a word. Then Lily looked at us thoughtfully and said, "I will not come with you until you prove your strength and bravery. Our greatest threat is the Scaruns. If you will hunt them down and bring peace to the town, I shall come with you without a doubt."
The old man smiled. "That is a fair deal, I guess." He said with his old man smile. We looked at each other and Rock Flames nodded. "Ok. We will save you from the Scaruns. But we need to know much more about them to defeat them." He said. Everyone approved and they began telling stories about the Scaruns, how they rob, kill and escape.
It was lunch time by now and we were greeted with delicious food. The rest of the day went in planning and chatting with the Variaries students.
It was now 12:30 of the midnight. All the students were sleeping in their rooms. We were also given a room which we didn't use. Together, without waking others up, as planned, we went out of the Variaries quarters. We were told that the Scaruns usually attack at night hence we had decided to surprise them.
The whole town was asleep. No light was on. With the happy and peaceful mood in the atmosphere, the town looked haunted with winds blowing heavily. We were the only ones walking on the street at that time.
I didn't know how we would recognize the Scaruns but without thinking too much, we had just walked out to finish the story. Just at that time, I heard some kind of noise. "Did you hear that?" I asked and the other shook their heads. But I was sure I had heard something.
I ran towards the noise, the other two following behind. I looked around but saw no one there. But then my eyes fell on the top of a house when I saw a man with red eyes looking at me. He wore a normal shirt and pant with a scarf on his mouth to get disguised. Apparently, his gang had been robbing the house when he saw us.
He quickly called out someone, looking at the house. I found another face coming out of the upper window of the palace. Rock Flames and Oliver had also noticed them by now. "What's the plan?" Oliver asked, his hand ready to grab Tortunem. "Plan? Attack, that's the plan!" Rock Flames yelled and both of us unsheathed our weapons. By then, all the Scaruns, six of them, had seen us.
Looking at the weapons they ran from behind the palace. We began chasing them. Rock Flames took the other route, the longer one and Oliver and I went straight for them. Just them, I watched a figure on the other side of the palace. It was the same face. Standing on the wall border, was Lily, with her daggers.
