Chapter 12 - The Registration Officer Is A Mouse!

Have I ever told you about speed of vehicles in Darknor. Well, the speed of a flying taxi is like, the maximum speed of two bikes combined into one.

And of course! I had to sit on a flying taxi. I couldn't even fix my eyes on the surroundings. It kept changing from greenery to traffic to palaces. Hats off to the flying taxi drivers who have still not gotten extinct with the speed. The world around me was moving at top speed. I was almost unconscious. (Warning: Flying taxies are not for people above 40 years of age.)

I felt like vomiting on the taxi or the driver but I realized that the taxi driver wouldn't appreciate either of the two options. I did my best to keep my mouth shut. "So, where do we have to go?" The driver asked. My face was like, Are you kidding me? From so long, I hadn't even given him the address of where I wanted to go and he was just driving at top speed here and there for no reason. Good for him that he is made of metal or else I would have smacked him on the gut with Magnum.

"We need to go to Scalor town, the next town. To the Warrior Battle Fest registration place, wherever it is." I blurted out. He nodded and drove at top speed. It felt like I was time-travelling.

Good part: I reached Scalor Town in just five minutes.

Bad part: After getting out of the taxi, first thing I did was go near a tree and vomit. The driver didn't seem surprised. Maybe all his passengers did this after reaching their destination. I gave him 50 Darknor currencies and the driver happily flew off with his vomit machine.

In front of me, I could see the registration office. I noticed a few huge warriors coming and registering their names. In that crowd, my eyes feel on a small guy. He was not very short but compared to the huge warriors surrounding him, he looked tiny. I focused on him and found that he was none other than my old pal, Oliver. He looked at me with joy and was waving his hand, signing me to join him.

I went to meet Oliver who had his amazing weapon, Tortunem strapped to his waist just like Magnum. His eyes shifted to my weapon. He was meeting Magnum for the first time. "Hey! That is an awesome axe that you have got!" He exclaimed. "He's called Magnum." I announced. "He?" Oliver was looking surprised to find out that I knew my axe's gender. "Don't ask" I said before he could open his mouth to question me.

"Alright. You are here to participate?" He asked me. I nodded with a smile. "Wow! That's awesome. I am too. Now we can face each other on-" Oliver stopped. He was next in the line and he noticed that the big guy in front of him had gone. So he quickly rushed to the counter and got his name registered.

"I will meet you soon, Blaze. Bye!" Oliver said and vanished again in the crowd. It was my turn now and I came forward. In front of me was the officer, sitting on a chair. You would think the officer would be another tough looking warrior. But the officer in front me was a mouse! He was a brown mouse with a small glass on his nose.

"Tell me your name." He ordered, not even looking at me. One busy mouse he was! (Never thought I would say those words...) He was engrossed in making the list on his laptop. "My name is Blaze Hunt!" I said. "And your weapon?" He asked. "Magnum!" I declared.

Still not looking at me, the officer said, "The tournament is starting tomorrow at 11:00 am. Be present at the Foster stadium. Next!" The mouse announced. I came out of the line, wondering why the officer was a mouse. More importantly: Where is foster stadium?

With no clue, I left the registration office. Oliver was now nowhere to be seen. I didn't like the idea of vomiting again. Hence, I decided that I will take a normal taxi to my house.

I took a taxi and sat relaxed. It was strange that I had gotten into a tournament without any skills. I registered, saw a mouse, don't know where the stadium is - this is like the weirdest day! I reached home in around half an hour. My father was sitting on the sofa, reading Darknor Times, the newspaper when he noticed me coming in. (And yes, we do have newspapers in Darknor)
