An announcer was speaking loudly to an adoring audience. "James Bottlerocket here, to be your announcer this evening to commentate over tonight's battle which is our rising star Zion versus a returning contender Kodoru!" James Bottlerocket commentated for the crowd to hear. "Today's track will be-!" James checked his notes, "Crystal Corruption by Liaquo? Sounds right, I'll have to look it up later."
Zion hadn't done any research on the enemy, mostly for the learning experience that he gets out of going in to fights blind. He walked into the main battleground of The Arena as another kid about Zion's age walked in from the opposite side. Zion tried to size him up, but he was too far to get a good read on him.
The crowd cheered as Zion and Kodoru walked to meet each other in the middle. Zion was able to judge Kodoru much better, He was at least three inches taller than Zion, which was saying a bit considering Zion was around 6 foot, and he was very physically powerful, as well as defensive Zion took notice. As crystal corruption started to play both jumped back as far as they could and waited for the other.
Zion had already activated his gift and water was rising as the beat did solidifying into ice, causing the ground to be slippery and freezing his opponent's feet to the ground. Zion kept laying more groundwork, waiting for his opponent to make a move. The crowd tensed in anticipation as Kodoru finally charged towards Zion as the beat was starting to drop, Zion barely had time to think "Oh hes kind of fast." before he had to dodge the blow. At least that's what the crowd saw, Zion barely had time to register his opponent and slipped on the ice he made.
Zion took this in account and adapted his fighting style to fight a quick enemy. Kodoru engaged in some intense close combat. When they exchanged blows, Zion noticed whenever he made contact, Kodoru's arms turned into some kind of metal. Zion also realized Kodoru isn't as strong as he looked, he was just much faster than anticipated. Zion worked on this by using the drop of crystal corruption to use his ice to create spikes to make the battlefield littered with debris as Kodoru had to break the ice in order to not get hit by them. Zion doesn't move much in combat, so it doesn't affect him as much. Then Zion lured Koduro into a spot where the path to him is riddled with the most debris. He then created a barrier that kept Koduro from escaping, leaving the only path remaining leading straight to Zion.
Kodoru grinned cockily as he knew Zions last dodge had been a fluke, so he charged straight towards him, but Zion had anticipated this and to a climactic beat he was raised in the air by a stone spire causing Kodoru to trip off of a piece of ice and into the giant rock that Zion had created.
The whole time James had been commentating over the fight but neither of the two fighting had bothered to listen. "-AND IT LOOKS LIKE KODORU IS OUT FOR THE COUNT AS ZION WINS AGAIN!" The crowd roared in excitement as Zion grinned and waved towards the crowd. He then walked out towards Rira who was really excited to talk to him about the match.
"Dude that was fucking awesome," Rira high-fived Zion "I would of gotten my ass handed to me in there."
"Nah," Zion deflected, "He isn't very defensive with your ranged gift, he only turns to metal with contact, so you'd be alright as long you finish the fight quickly." Zion took out his phone as he got a notification and looked at it with disbelief.
"Ok I've messaged Zion asking him about dinner for this weekend, he probably knows what's up but he won't say no to me, or he might not, who knows." Sara told Yuaka.
"Thanks Sara," Yuaka blushed slightly, "Zion really is lucky to have a sister as cool and caring as you are, he obviously means everything to you."
"We're all we got." Sara smiled at Yuaka, "It's how we survive."
Yuakas heart ached with how sweet Sara was as a person, she wanted a sister who cared about her as much as Sara cared about Zion. She would eventually come to realize that Sara was already a sister to her.
Sara booped Yuakas nose, "Did you hear me? He said he was 'Down with the sickness' im pretty sure that alludes to him saying sure."
"Does everything he say have to be referencing some sort of music?" Yuaka asked, Even though she though she liked the references.
Sara rolled her eyes, "He thinks its on brand, honestly its just the final countdown until he drives me insane."
"Was that intentional."
"Was what intentional."
"The final countdown reference"
"OH GOD NOW IM DOING IT, ZIONS BROUGHT ME INTO THE EYE OF THE TIGER!"
Yuaka started to crack up, "You mean eye of the storm?"
"GOD DAMNIT!"
Yuaka wiped a tear from her eye. "What did you want to get for food later?"
Sara thought for a while, "Let's get some top ramen and binge some anime together, I want to get to know you better."
Yuaka looked confused, "What's cup ramen and anime?" She asked, innocent to the unbridled bloodlust Sara was giving off.
Sara grabbed her shoulders and looked her dead in the eyes. "How don't you know about these things."
"Well I wasn't really showed online media by parents, they're of higher class so we didn't have much food that wasn't prepared by servants." Yuaka said sadly.
Sara, who was inspired by this story to watch as much anime and eat as much ramen as possible. "We have to Kaguya-sama or something like it, I know youll love it."
"Im skeptical but I trust your judgements." Yuaka said hesitantly, but excited to hang out and learn more about Saras interests.
