Chapter 7 - Understanding

(Zion Pov)

"WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" Zion groaned on the grass while Rira tried not to laugh while also trying to get him off the ground.

"Dude stop, people are looking. What is it?" Rira asked

"I finally realized what my sister was trying to do!" Zion yelled in despair. "The moving dorms, the person she moved in with, fuckkkkkkkk"

"Hey quit whining, how do you even know what's going to happen?" Rira asked.

Zion picked himself off the ground and brushed himself off. "Thousands of hours of playing chess together, we can read each other like children's books."

"Okay, but what is it she's doing?" Rira asked again becoming more confused.

"Shes invited us to dinner with her and her new roommate, and as I'm going to leave, both you and Sara are going to conveniently not be able to go and it's going to conveniently be me and Yuaka alone for dinner." Zion explained

"How-, Wh-" Rira said in disbelief. "That makes literally no sense at all."

"Give it about a minute for her to come up with an offer." Zion said completely sure

"Thats just not going to work is it." Rira doubted him but he waited a minute and sure enough he got a notification on his phone.

"Go on, look at it." Zion said completely emotionless.

Rira looked at the message he got on his phone. "Huh."

"I wonder what it possibly could be." Zion started pacing agitatedly.

"It is your sister." Rira admitted in shock, "It says, can you do me a favor, ill really owe you one. Ill respond sure

"And pray tell what ever will she have you do, it certainly won't be can you make an excuse to not show up to the dinner tonight, I want Zion and Yuaka to get to know each other better."

"How are you doing this?" Rira laughed

Zion laughed wearily "Me and Sara have spent most of our younger childhood one upping each other with board games. It helped us develop our minds."

"Sounds cool to have a sibling that would do that kind of thing with you." Rira said wistfully.

"Actually, it was kind of one thing that happened while we were tor- eh it's not important." Zion stopped nervously, "Anyways can you not accept, my entire purpose for not wanting to date people is so I don't neglect the people I care about, mainly my sister."

"Well, you care about your sister, right?"

"Duh."

"And you trust her judgment, right?"

"Uh-huh" Zion said picking up what Rira is putting down.

"And your sister knows you better than anyone else, right?"

"Ok ok ok I get it." Zion sighed, "I know she's probably right; I just fear neglecting either of them."

"Well like you said she does know you better than anyone else, also I doubt you'd neglect either because you're a good guy." Rira reasoned.

"You want my sister to owe you something don't you." It was a statement, not a question.

"I mean I can't say that I don't want a favor from the strongest person at our school, but I'd also like to see you find something that fulfills you and has a lot larger chance of not hurting you."

"Fine I'll go do it, just don't expect anything to happen." Zion caved.

"Let's head home then."

(Yuaka Pov)

"Do Zion and you both watch anime?" Yuaka asked, slurping her top ramen up.

"Yeah, and contrary to what you might think its him who's more into the romance genre and I'm more into the action packed well animated fight scenes." Sara mimed swinging a sword, "But we do occasionally recommend each other things, like he's forced me to watch Love is War and Tonikawa: over the moon for you and I forced him to watch Demon Slayer and Fullmetal Alchemist."

"Thats a funny dynamic to think about." Yuaka contemplated as Sara checked her phone, smiled and shot back a quick response. "What's that about."

"Plan fell through, Rira said he would be going through with it." Sara said confidently

"And do you think Zion knows?" Yuaka asked.

"Oh of course he knows I bet he read it like the Biscuit the dog book." Sara said matter of factly

"What the hell is the 'Biscuit the Dog book'?" Yuaka asked again.

"It's a book with a dog named Biscuit that Zion thinks is absolutely adorable for some reason."

"Is it good?"

"It's a book for three-year olds."

"Huh."

"Back on topic, I definitely think that Zion knows what I'm doing, he probably told Rira that I was going to message him." Sara admitted, "He's too smart for his own good."

"It's scary how well you know him." Yuaka said while putting down her cup of ramen.

Sara laughed, "You should see him analyze a chess board and have him tell you the move you were about to make." Sara shivered, "Now THAT is scary."

"I wish I had a sibling like you, the 'Siblings" I grew up with were all trying to prove their strength to me and beat the shit out of me." Yuaka said bitterly

Sara winced, "Why would anyone do that?"

"One of my distant relatives who was the owner of a large corporation suddenly died, and ther was no true heir that would get the inheritance, which I don't even care about" Yuaka added, "And my mother thought, hey let's force my 8-year-old child to develop an ability that they aren't strong enough to handle and bring her into the contest that lets all the youngest in the family tree fight for the inheritance."

"Thats awful," Sara wrapped her arms around Yuaka and squeezed tightly. "I'm glad you're okay though."

Yuaka was so surprised that for a second she enjoyed the nice warmth of Saras hug, and then realized she was a bit red and then pushed Sara off in a panic. "U- I- no toucha da child pl- no th-" She sputtered out like 3 things she thought about saying at the same time causing a jumble of words. Yuaka got off the couch and covered her head with her arms.

Sara chuckled, "Come on Yuaka c'mere, I'm sure you need a hug."

"N-no I don't." Yuaka lied as easily as she breathed.

"Yuaka come here and give me a hug or Ill spoil Love is War."

"Fine." Yuaka relented and gave Sara a hug, which she secretly enjoyed lots.

"Was that so bad?"

"Ye-" Yuaka stopped herself, "No....."

Sara looked smug, "Now go get some sleep, we have to get you something to wear for your date tomorrow."

"I'm sorry my wha
