Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

The two stood outside, Zeven tried to persuade Chris into wearing some kind of protective apparel, to which Chris politely pointed out that he could go to hell. Chris dug her front foot into the ground as she assumed a fighting stance. One foot pointing at twelve and the other at three. Zeven stood tall, not changing his posture at all. He planned to do whatever it took to win, but he clearly had the advantage.

"Ready?" Chris shook her head. "Go."

Chris kicked her back leg as hard as she could, connecting to Zeven's stomach. Zeven stumbled back. Chris prepped again. Zeven stepped closer and Chris swung her fist. Catching it easily, he pulled her in. immobilising her arms in his grip. "Call it now, and I'll forget about the deal." "Not a chance." Chris slammed her heel into his shin momentarily causing his hold to loosen. Taking advantage of the split second, she rammed her head back into his face.

Blood began dripping from Zeven's nose. There was no doubt it hurt, he swore aloud as he tilted his head forward to keep the blood running down. Feeling up the bridge of his nose, he felt for the break. After finding it he drew a deep breath and snapped it back into place. Chris gave him a moment before attacking again, letting him have a second to right himself.

"Give up now. I'm not going to let you win."

"I wouldn't want you to."

Zeven went in for a hit to her stomach, but Chris managed to dodge right before it connected. Their movements picked up until it was turn for turn. But now they were more careful about where they hit. After a leg sweep left Chris in the dirt, she returned the favor by latching on to him and pulling him down as well. They rolled on the ground for a minute, fighting for control. Chris was considerably lighter than Zeven but she managed to avoid being pinned at last second as she slipped out from underneath him.

Both of them were panting and covered in dirt, sweat, and small scratches. Zeven was getting tired and needed to put an end to the fight. So when Chris came running at him, he lunged left grabbing her arm as he did. Twisting her arm at the same time, he used her momentum to flip her over. Slamming to the ground, there was an audible pop from her shoulder. As she cried out in pain, her breaths were shallow, the impact had took her breath away.

Not letting go of her arm Zeven stood above her. "Call it." Chris grit her teeth, "No." Zeven pulled her arm up, as Chris bit back tears, "Call it Christopher." He ordered. "No!" Chris looked up at Zeven. "Please call it so we can end this... Please." He couldn't bring himself to tug at her arm anymore, he carefully set it down beside her as he crouched down. Using his hand he felt the shoulder confirming what he already figured. He had in fact dislocated it with his last move.

Even touching it was excruciating, as Zeven felt around Chris couldn't stop from groaning. It was clear he was trying to be gentle, but that didn't help the situation. "Call it. Please, so we can put it back in place." "...fine." Chris barely managed to get out. "Oh thank god." Zeven rushed closer, helping Chris sit up. His hands cupped her shoulder again, trying to feel out the extent of the injury.

Chris shivered and tensed. Zeven pulled his hands away "You need to relax or this is going to be a lot worse." She did relax for all of two seconds until he placed his hand back on her. "Is it the pain or is it me? I can go get Gunter, but wasting too much time will cause your muscles to tighten making this harder and more painful." Chris shook her head. "It's fine, do it quick." Zeven looked at her, giving her a once over before positioning himself behind her. Bracing her injured shoulder he took her arm and raised it level with the shoulder. "One… two…" He snapped it back into place before he hit three.

Chris cried out as it popped back into its socket. Falling back into Zeven, she curled her injured shoulder closer. Resting on him she took a few breaths to steady herself.

"I'm sorry for dislocating your shoulder."

"It's fine. I broke your nose."

The pair sat there in silence. Catching their breath and resting their bodies. Zeven was the first to move, cautious of her shoulder, he moved out from behind her. Finding his feet, he looked down at Chris trying to figure out a way to help her up that wouldn't jar her shoulder.

Chris caught him staring at her. Looking up into his brown eyes, she held out her right arm. Catching the meaning, Zeven grabbed onto her forearm and helped her to her feet. It was obvious they were both sore, as they began to shuffle back towards the house. "I assume we don't tell Gunter?" "yep." Zeven and Chris looked at each other before breaking into a smile. Zeven's throbbing nose was ignored in the euphoria.

They got to the front door, but before entering Zeven stopped her. "You go clean up in my bathroom, I'll go to Gunter's." Chris listened, but found herself questioning him, "wouldn't it make more sense for you to go to your bathroom?" Zeven scratched the back of his head, "By now I'm sure that you've seen that Gunter is very private about his room, if one of us has to be under constant supervision it probably should be me." Chris couldn't argue with that.

"Also to the less comfortable part… your shoulder is going to need to be wrapped in place." Zeven looked Chris in the eyes, but it didn't help the conversation topic. Taking a deep breath, Chris nodded and let Zeven continue. "Can you manage everything up to that point?" "Yeah, I'll be fine." Zeven opened the front door and they both went their separate ways.
