Chapter 21 - Brainwashed

Helkep had a frown on his face, 'Where did that come from?'

Shaking his head, Helkep started walking towards his dorm, he prepared himself for the trouble that was coming, looking at the lizard following him.

Inside his dorm room, Helkep looked at the brothers examining the lizard.

"This lizard…seems familiar." Braco said, grabbing his chin.

"…Wait! Isn't this the lizard I lost a few days back?" Bobco said, with his eyes wide open, shock the only thing on his face.

Helkep wanted to clap for the brothers wondrous acting.

"Indeed, indeed. I remember this lizard acting so close to you a few days back. Look at it now, it seems it has been fed well." Braco said with anger and contempt.

"I…I loved you so much. But you repay my kindness with a betrayal?" Bobco said, his eyes red, like he was actually about to cry.

Forget the lizard even Helkep was surprised. 'There acting…is good.' Helkep looked at the two boys with wide eyes. He really wanted to ask if there was a class or something about acting.

"Sniff, Sniff! You betrayed me and now you are standing in front of me like that, so happy...HOW DARE YOU BETRAY ME!?" Bobco raised his leg and smashed it on the lizards face.

Grr! That lizard growled and retreated backwards.

Helkep had a frown on his face, he had somewhat expected them to do this. 'Now they have they found someone else to annoy as well? That's why I didn't want to bring it here.'

Bobco raised his leg again and smashed it on the lizard. Braco joined in the fun.

Helkep only watched and didn't stop them, he didn't feel anything but his heartlessness wasn't the only reason for him not defending the lizard.

'Sigh! Its best if it knows what's going to happen if it's going to stay with me. It's best that it hates us and leaves, otherwise it will have to bear this…everyday.' Helkep thought calmly, he wasn't going to bother the brothers fun but the same wasn't true for everyone.

The brothers who were having fun chasing after the lizard and beating it up, didn't notice Helkep's shadow moving and wiggling.

From the shadow came out a monster, the hidden boss to be exact.

Seeing the lizard getting beaten up, anger started to bubbling inside him, his eyes glowed red, his fangs grew longer, they shined a murderous light.

Helkep looked at the hidden boss, the hidden boss wanted to charge forward and crush the two boys, but something was preventing him from moving.

He felt something restricting him, he didn't notice Helkep staring at him, his eyes were fixed at the backs of the two boys.

The brothers who were busy kicking a helpless lizard suddenly stopped in their tracks, they felt as if…death was staring at them.

Cold sweat drenched them, it all vanished just as quickly as it appeared .

The horrifying aura didn't even last for two seconds before it disappeared but it was enough to freeze them in their steps for ten minutes.

They actually didn't move from their location for 10 minutes. After finally believing that the threat was gone, they looked back, only to see the lifeless eyes of Helkep glued on them.

They felt…fear from those eyes, they had known Helkep for over half a year, they knew it wasn't Helkep who could produce such a horrifying and bloodthirsty pressure.

They were shocked and afraid from Helkep on the fact that…he was still calm.

His eyes that were always calm like a sea, from those lifeless eyes, they felt…fear.

It was the first time in their life, they felt fear from someone who was simply standing still, and looking at them with no emotions.

At this time they felt as if they were the actual ants, standing in front of a mountain, an immovable mountain.

Helkep had just realised that his control over the hidden boss was quite big, he had wished it and the hidden boss was forced back in his shadow.

He knew the hidden boss only struck to kill. So he was very intrigued when the hidden boss had came to save him when he was about to die, he wondered what made the hidden boss save someone else.

And when he had not killed him, when he had handed the hidden boss a knife, the hidden boss had moved the knife to his neck but didn't kill him, he was intrigued at that time as well.

Now he was forced to think that it all might not be so simple as the hidden boss somehow getting interested in him.

'What could it be? What could possibly force the hidden boss to retreat, right now? No…what did he gain from saving me? What...HOW can he enter my shadow? …I...I have been trying to escape these questions…why? What is it, that I am forcing myself to believe? What is it that I am laying to myself about?' Helkep looked at nowhere blankly, his blank eyes got even blanker, his eyes fell on the lizard sitting besides his leg, snapping him out of his mind, from his questions.

Helkep remembered that he still had the healing pills Noil gave him, he took one out and fed it to the lizard.

The lizard after swallowing the pill did something…that surprised Helkep.

It…cried. A stream of tears flowed down from its eyes.

It looked at Helkep…happily, gratefully.

Helkep wasn't able to read those eyes, his interaction with monsters was almost nil after all.

A deep frown appeared on his face, he didn't like the fact that the one thing he was good at was proving itself useless.

'I can read Humans. I guess monsters are out of my reach.' Helkep thought before looking ahead and saw that the two brothers had left, probably in their rooms, shaking in fear.

He went inside his room, looking at the lizard following him he could only sigh.

'I guess it's not going to leave anytime soon.' Helkep shook his head and took off his shoes before sitting on the bed.

Remembering something, he got up and grabbed an oval shaped device, he pressed a button on it and a transparent screen lit up.

He moved his hand and the screen moved along with his finger. Swiping a few things away, he opened up a browser.

On the search option he typed, 'How to make a contract with a monster?'

Various posts appeared, he clicked on the top one and read it.

The content...was like this:

To form a contract with a monster, I recommend you to chose a low levelled monster as your slave.

To make the contract easier, make sure to torture the monster a lot.

Break it's willpower, remember, higher levelled monsters will naturally have a high willpower. So they will need to be put through more torture to weaken their willpower.

I recommend going to a monster taming company and taking the help of a professional monster torturer to torture the monster.

Remember, the more louder it screams the more higher your chance of successfully breaking its willpower.

If you believe the monster's willpower has not broken enough, feel free to chop off some of its part like the arms, legs, ears, nose, fangs anything, feel free to even chop up its puny monster's dignity if you want.

Those deformed garbage don't die unless you rip their heads or the heart out after all.

When the monster's willpower is weak, draw the monster's blood.

It's not legit but it's said the more you draw the more successful the contract.

Create a circle on the ground with the blood, draw a star pattern in it. Write the monster's details on it, after this you will receive a notification from the system.

After this you will be put through the integration process.

The integration process will allow you to become the master of the monster.

But you will receive a punishment if the monster somehow dies, later on.

So to avoid the punishment, when you draw the circle, place the body part of the same monster or some other monster's, what this will do is make you the semi-master.

What will happen is your control will lessen on the monster, but if you were the one to have broken up or in easy words played with the monster, then it will do nothing.

You will not receive the punishment instead, the monster on its death will be punished. The perfect win-win situation don't you think.

'Sigh! Humans truly do hate all species of monsters from their cores, don't they?' Helkep reading the post couldn't help but shake his head.

He felt even weirder when he saw the 2 trillion likes on the post.

'In their hate, humans forget that they are nothing more than monsters themselves.' Helkep shook his head and closed the 'laptop'.

He looked back as he felt the hidden boss coming out.

Before he could look back, he was slammed against the wall.

A grey hand was on his neck, one inch long nails were pressed against his skin, he spoke, "Why did you stop me!?" He spoke in his mesmerisingly, malicious tone.

(Note: The hidden boss isn't talking in the human language.)

"I don't know what you are saying, but I think my guess is correct ." As Helkep spoke, the hidden boss also realised the problem of communication.

For the first time, he wished he could speak another language.

Though that thought was quickly suppressed and his rage took over again.

He truly had a weird relationship with the lizard.

He had first met it in the Volcanic Land, the first time when Helkep had entered it with Noil.

That day when Helkep had asked him to go away, he had started wandering the first floor.

Some foolish insects had dared to challenge him. So he had squashed them all.

Looking at the meat he had never tasted, he wondered how it would taste like.

He didn't like eating raw meat like most of the other monsters did, he only liked it when it was burned on fire for some time.

Looking at the hot atmosphere and the monsters which he fought, he thought it might not be that difficult finding someone who could help him.

But when he went and asked others whether they could spew fire, they just shivered looking at the hidden boss with fear.

Finally he saw a lizard like creature spewing fire on someone which looked quite similar to it.

Seeing that the fire breathing monster was about to be killed, he got enraged and killed the insects that were beating the lizard.

He grabbed the lizard and ran back to where he had killed the bugs.

He asked the lizard to burn one of them. Yet it acted like an idiot and just stared at him.

After getting a bit annoyed, he grabbed the lizard's tail and like a trigger the lizard started spewing flames.

Finally realising that for the lizard to breathe fire, it's tail needed to be grabbed, he picked up a body and grabbed the lizard's tail. Who started spewing fire and roasting the body.

But unfortunately, he didn't get to taste the monster as a weird sensation forced him to run to the next floor.

And the lizard had followed him to the next floor as well. Eventually he started liking the idiotic lizard.

And seeing something that he liked getting harmed by something disgusting, he was enraged.

If it was another creature or even Helkep himself he wouldn't have cared.

The hidden boss who was contemplating whether he should just give Helkep a beating, was suddenly interrupted from his thoughts by the lizard speaking.

"Gigigigigi." The lizard spoke and the hidden boss released Helkep.

Helkep could only stare at the two monsters talking and he couldn't understand a thing.

Though he was wondering one thing, how was the lizard able to communicate?

Only some very rare monsters with intelligence were able to communicate, and the Shifter Lizard race weren't apart of the intelligent ones.

Slowly Helkep was also led into his own thoughts. Some very weird thoughts, 'What lies…have I brainwashed myself to believe? What is the truth? Sigh! Is there really something that I am hiding from myself?'

Very strange thoughts, normal people would consider themselves crazy when they begin to think about such things but Helkep truly didn't fit in the word normal.
