It took me a while before all the things that are happening settled in my head. The phone continued to ring, so, I anxiously stood up from the living room floor to get the phone, all their eyes were on me as I slowly approached the kitchen counter where the phone is still ringing non-stop. I hesitantly lifted the earpiece of the phone and placed it to my ears, trying my best to calm myself down and speak.
"Hello?" I greeted the person on the other line, hesitantly.
"Good afternoon ma'am Mitch. There's a delivery for you here in the lobby." I let out a sigh of relief as soon as I heard our receptionist's voice and the pounding of my heart to my chest began to subside.
"Thank you, Miss Kate. We'll be right down." I replied to her and put down the phone after saying goodbye to our receptionist.
"The delivery man is already at the lobby." I informed them and they all exhaled deeply, letting out the air that they didn't even realized they were holding in.
