Chapter 1 - The Crash

"How dare you question my abilities?" A small voice echoed within the space of a yellow bus. The chimes of laughter followed after. She stood in her seat, with her hands crossed over her chest.

The bus driver told her to sit down, but she didn't hear it. The man sighed, slightly giving up and continuing to drive off, focusing on the road in front of him.

A snicker was heard, behind the seat of the first voice. She turned towards the sound of the laugh, "What, Anastasia?"

Before she could say anything, the person beside her spoke up, "Shut the hell up, Yuno.", which was accompanied by her eyes rolling back. She put her headphones in and tried to block out all the stupidity coming from the short girl, which wasn't received well by the said person.

A chocolate covered stick was shoved into Yuno's mouth by the girl in the seat across, "Although I agree, it's not nice to tell someone to shut up Thea." The snack box was then put away, as if the only reason it was out was to hush Yuno. Or prevent Yuno and Thea from fighting, who knows?

Thea, the girl who sat next to Anastasia rolled her eyes, "Whatever.", her hand motioned towards her phone as she turned it as loud as possible. Anastasia glanced over, noticing that it was alternative music and decided not to say anything. 'That time of the month?', she pondered.

Anastasia's feet swayed below the seat, she wasn't tall enough to touch the bus floor when she sat back. Her mind kind of drifted, as if something was intruding into her thoughts.

Because of the commotion, these girls didn't realize that the bus had just entered the highway. The rattling and bouncing of the vehicle seemed normal to them, but due to the teasing, laughing and screaming, a small high pitched screech that marked the side of the bus was unheard.

The girls and their teammates were on their way to a soccer competition in California, leaving the state of Texas in hopes of bringing home a sense of success and souvenir.

Anastasia paused, breaking herself from the laughter and began to feel a chill down her spine. Goosebumps appeared on her arms, "Hey, girls did you feel that?" only for her voice to become drowned in the screaming.

It was too late.

Yuno was fumed because of other teammates creating a false scenario of how the opposing teams would just flick her away because of how short she was. The ride was hectic, but none of them could have guessed that a black car from another lane began to go out of control.

Startled from the noise of a tire popping and the high pitch cries of a car sliding against the grey roads, the bus driver slammed the breaks, causing the girls launch forward, colliding into the seat in front of them. One of the wheels popped, bursting the eardrums of those close.

The girls at this point were all looking out the window, noticing the black car drive through a barrier, deforming to nearly half of the original length.

The driver of that car was definitely dead. There was no way he survived the car getting smashed. To make matters worse, it wasn't stopping, but instead continuing to speed up towards the bus.

"Sh*t-"

From the break of the barrier, a passing 16-wheeler ended up flipping resulting in a leakage of gas. The strong and distinct smell could be noticed from even within the bus, and the girls felt nauseated. Yuno began to vomit on the side, out of panic. Her stomach collapsed due to the stress. Thea grabbed hold of the seat, as if it was going to brace the impact instead. Anastasia froze, staring at the vehicle spinning towards them.

The black consistency spread across the road, covering the lane-paint and concrete in black. A loud crash was heard, in the perspective of all the girls in the bus...

Their world became as pitch black as the oil spill on the road.
