Chapter 4 - The Deer, Mana and What's Under My Skin

As i looked through all the options I picked a few for skin, bones and muscles. How i knew I couldn't pick anymore was instinct my body told me i couldn't handle it.

I picked up,

Skin reinforce- Makes the skin rougher and stronger, Slash, Stab and Blunt damage is harder to get through your skin and tear it apart or rip it.

Hollow skeleton- Hollows the bone making you lighter, while maintaining their strength and consolidating them to resist breaks and fractures.

Thread Muscles- Changes the way the tissue is held and stretched by twisting the muscle fiber together around each other making for a snapping motion.

It felt weird as my mind pulled back from the void and into my body. Still sleeping i felt my skin tighten then loosen it felt strange and itchy but the worst part was the muscles. They broke and sprained causing pain if not for the deep sleep I'd have tried running from the pain as my muscles broke down and rebuilt themselfs.

Hours past, when i woke up i felt lighter, my movement faster and easier. Standing up and eating the boar the town brought me was felt good, slowly i started moving around the village the children avoided me and i could understand why. Big scary ass monster that eats people in two bites would scare anyone.

Looking around i see a few of them making strange symbols in the air and it glows with light and the earth moves around to make a ditch they then pour water into.

[So magic is used with a wave of the hand to bad I've got the huge claws or maybe I'd try, I really don't feel like making a fool of myself by waving these big meaty hands around]

Snorting in displeasure, Turning and heading away i feel something strange almost like a small tugging on my mind and i turn to face a bigger, older building made of mud bricks and tree's.

Making my way to it i see an old woman, Not a tree woman but almost human woman if not for those weird antlers and the fur on her body I'd say she was human. I approach and feel the tugging become a little harder till slowly i hear another voice in my mind.

[Beast why have you come to this village and why stay]

Startled by this sudden intrusion in my mind all of my eyes narrow staring at this old lady. She flinches back and holds her head when i use my own mind to respond.

[How are you in my mind i didn't see you making symbols in the air. Why question me as if this was my plan. I simply wandered into this village was attacked, killed the one that attached me, Then decided to stay here a little bit. They're feeding me so I'm not going to eat them and when i feel more comfortable with my body since I'm only recently born I will leave]

I can see the pain in her face it's almost like my thoughts are stabbing her. It takes a few minutes before she replies to me as she relaxes back in her chair.

[You do know that the villagers are thinking you're some kind of guardian beast because other monsters won't come near the village now. Also one does not need to make the symbols outside their mind to cast a spell but it helps to draw mana, All things have their own mana to use this village just uses the mana in the air, walls and plants because they are weak with mana]

Blankly staring, eyes not daring to twitch for fear of showing any emotion, I look around and notice that the villagers clasp their hands together when they go to pass me and bow their heads a little. I shake my thoughts of it and spend the next few days learning from this deerling how to use my mana and aura which is basically my stamina in the form of power, (talking for a bit i learned her race and the races of other sapiens around the cave forest, along with monsters).

Spending weeks learning different patterns that allow me to manipulate my mana in different ways we learn that whatever species I am is best with spatial and death mana. I hunt and kill what small creature's are around the village, learning more and more of the cave i am in. I came to learn that we are about twenty miles from the surface In what is called the fungal forest because of the mushrooms and other fungi that grow here.

I also learned that every month all the villages come together and journey to the surface for a week and trade with the surface races and species. Learning all i can over a few weeks before getting ready to leave i tell the deerling goodbye before heading into the cave to hunt and go deeper just to see what's down there.

My size had grown, When I'm on my hands and feet im just as tall as an elephant, my mouth can open wide enough to swallow a human that is over six feet tall in one bite, the strength in my legs and arms is enough to lift a car and throw it like a frisbee. But the strangest thing of all is the constant wiggling and squirming that I can feel under my skin It's almost as if my blood is alive and is a creature of its own.

[What I'd do for a real room and a shower but all i could get is this cold waterfall and stacked piles of soft hay mixed with leafs. Really food would be amazing to and maybe music. Maybe i can find someone of something that can play music and follow me around because I'm gonna go crazy with the silents and constant sound of insects]

Stopping i think about that for a second. Insects why haven't i heard them before but now all of the sudden i hear tons of them. Eyes taking in every moment i see it a small dump truck worth of human sized insects is coming my way.
